I had my tonsils out a bit over 2 years ago when I was 20. I had strep 5 times in one semester of school, I would finish my medicine, and then about 10 days later get sick again. Getting my tonsils out really helped me out a ton! I've only been sick once since my surgery. It did hurt a lot the week or two after my surgery. I was on percocet. My daily routine for the first few days after surgery was take the pain meds, then about half an hour later, I could eat/drink a bit, then I would sleep until it was time to take more percocet. What did help me was that I kept a cup of crushed ice by me at all times. Oh yeah, I didn't have any problems with bleeding or anything after my surgery.
