  1. Apologies if this is a repost. But holy cow this is a great PLF. http://bg11.org/wp-content/uploads/Parkour_In_Russia_71.gif __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  2. An oath saying you will vote for whatever candidate the Republican Party nominates. http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=7411021&nav=S6aK Which has got to be illegal (you can't have a contract forcing someone to vote a certain way), but is surely at least unenforceable. But aside from that, it's an insult to your constituents. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  3. Blu-Ray has consistently sold more movies. See attached image. Also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_high_definition_optical_disc_formats __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  4. The new Strong canopies I've seen have six grommets, having two extras for the brake lines. Is this the design you're talking about? Would you say the sliders on their new canopies encourage tension knots more than four grommet sliders? Does anyone know why they went with 6 grommet sliders on their new canopies? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  5. How much do they cost, and where can I buy one? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  6. That was a pretty good time! Good to meet some new people every once in a while. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  7. If anyone answered no to this question, I'd be surprised they're on this website. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  8. I'm pretty sure you can't do that, since you need to do night jumps to get your D and you can't do night jumps with just an A liscense. (I forget if it's B or C that lets you do night jumps) __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  9. Definitely "tha fuzz" __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  10. Unless you get some bridle protection put on, I would not do any more freeflying on an unmodified Vector II. I've heard nasty stories of premature openings breaking the arms of people sitflying in older gear. I know it's really tempting, I've been in the exact same situation, but it's a definite danger. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. 11. Isn't the pilot chute normally on the opposite side of the d-bag as the cypres cable/ cutter? No, I don't worry about it any more than any other freak accident that could kill me. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  12. I'm actually a big fan of calling it a "wing" __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  13. Our club just bought an all-orange (actually "tangerine") Navigator 280 to match our school colors. This is the most BLINDINGLY bright canopy you've ever seen. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  14. How can stows affect the speed of the deployment? The canopy is still in the bag until after the stows have released. Stows may change the time to line stretch but have no affect on deployment. Sparky I believe tighter stows mean there will be more continuous tension on the lines during deployment, as opposed to having having loose stows, which could dump the lines out too fast, and end up hitting you hard when your weight catches all at once. However, I wouldn't intentionally do this as a way of speeding up the deployment. If you want to speed up the deployment: Don't bury or roll the nose, leave it exposed. The further it is out, the faster the opening. When quartering the slider, pull it toward the tail of the canopy moreso than the front. When rolling the tail, don't roll it so far, and don't roll it so tight. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  15. I call it a parachute when i'm talking to whuffos. Less to explain. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  16. I'd say its a good lesson reinforcing altitude awareness, since you shouldn't be depending on fall time for determining breakoff anyway. If a skydiver is being truthful with him/herself about their skills on their belly and tracking, acts intelligent learning about the new precautions necessary for freeflying, and takes learning it it one step at a time, 100 jumps isn't too early. IMHO. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  17. I would be sure to somehow dry the insides of them as well as possible afterwards. Even with stainless steel, you don't want some water staying inside the housings for a long period of time. Stainless steel will rust if in contact with water for a long enough time. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  18. The odds of having two out at a high altitude is pretty small. If it happens, it's going to be low and you're not going to want to burn up a few hundred feet of altitude getting yourself an intentional downplane. You could also conceivably cause one of your canopies to run into the other and collapse/entangle when trying to do this. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. 19. I think cannibalism ought to be grounds for leniancy in murder trials since it's less wasteful. Thoughts? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  20. Someone please tell me this story wasn't made in a way that made the skydiving industry as a whole look crooked. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  21. Well, they said they're cheaper in "many" areas, and they'll probably be able to find one or two dropzones in the country that charges more for tandems than they do. chriswelker, Makethappen, diablopilot, and hooknswoop, FYI, you are mentioned on their countercomplaint. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. 22. Do we know there isn't a reason that they require a retirement after 12 years? Depending on how it malfunctions, a malfunctioning cypres could be more dangerous than no cypres at all. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. 23. Here's a fun idea: next time they're doing a car jump in Arizona, get an old, no longer usable reserve and container. Pack the unjumpable (for a human) reserve with your outdated cypres. Hook it up to the car, somehow. At 750 feet, see what fails first! __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
  24. Nah, I don't even buy lottery tickets. I bought one once, but didn't win. It was so stupid. I figure I can still dream though and have roughly the same odds. My dropzone would also have its own cotton candy machine. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
