  1. Don't make me call you with my helium voice again! Just making a brief appearance while I had some time to kill.

Looks like there's still SOME familiar faces on here! Hmmm, lemme head over to the 'Ladies' forum and see who I can piss off! :o;)

My husband had it done this year and is really happy with the results. The doctor determined he only had to have one eye done, which was nice because it really cut the cost. He only missed one afternoon of work and besides the normal recovery time of a little swelling and having to use special eye drops, there was nothing weird or odd that happened.

So now that he can see, does he still want to stay married to you? :D;)

Sabre II is definately the way to go, however don't think for a second that you can't do yourself harm because it is a Sabre II. If your intention is to explore canopy flight/ high performance canopy flight please do yourself a favor and take whatever canopy you are currently flying and attend several canopy courses find Scott Miller, seek out the Fast Trax folks, contact Ian Drennan who is a moderator for this forum, take some basic or essentials courses from the PD guys. DO NOT try to figure it all out on your own, in the long run you will spend more money and you can seriousl injur/ kill yourself. I know there are some die hards that say you should never pay for coaching.....put that out of your head, you want to explore a discipline with very narrow margins that provides extremely high personall reward, do it right.

Best advice I've seen in this thread. I second Dan's comments - all of them.

Yes Jared, jokes are always funnier the second time around!

    Especially when they're told louder!

***Please everyone, stop making jokes about the size of Jeff's penis. It has to be very painful for him, especially since it's probably been several years since he's even seen his penis, or his shoes.

Jeez.... all those years of expensive therapy down the drain. Thanks John....

At least the sheep think my penis is big.

  6. I wouldn't worry so much about the lumps, but the daily puking isn't good. It honestly sounds like some kind of mild poisoning to me.

Have you used ANY kind of pesticide in the house lately? Even the plastic traps for ants, roaches, etc. can make them sick. No, they don't need to lick or eat the traps... ants walking through ant traps, then across the food dish will make pets sick.

Give the floors where he eats a good cleaning, as well as any favorite hang out spots like window ledges.

If that doesn't work, just end his suffering.

Two of these shots were taken of me doing a tandem with a 15mm lens. It works really well with a .3 wide angle lens video.

That's the combination I use for tandems, and works really well, since I like getting in close and interacting the the tandem pair.

Good for freeflying too, but as far as everything else (canopy, rw, swooping, etc.), that's just too wide, IMHO.

  8. Hey Dee,

Guess I'm a little late here (haven't been on in a while), but hope you heal fast, and don't feel you need to continue to beat yourself up for the next couple months. Negativity won't get you far.

Looking forward to competing with you next year!

  9. Yeah, I know... Life has been a whirlwwind the past few months. Got a promotion at work, been trying to finish up the Cobra and get the Camaro ready for the Turkey Rod Run, and managed to keep a girlfriend for almost four months (we broke up a couple weeks ago :().

Anyway, dz.commers are the most opinionated people I know, so I figured this would be a great place to get peoples thoughts on the iPhone.

I'll call you later... on (hopefully) my iPhone! :)

  10. Ok, since Apple is dropping the prices on their iPhones, and my current cell (Razr) has pretty much had it, I think it's time to pick up an iPhone.

Here's my question. They have the 8gig version, and a smaller version (4gig?). I already have an ipod for putting all my music on, so what would I use all the extra space for? How much of the 4gig is used by the operating system?

At most, I plan on throwing a few dozen pictures on there, and maybe 50 - 100 songs. I really just want it for the email, Internet, and visual voicemail.

I know the smaller one is being discontinued, but figured I could save a couple hundred bucks since I don't think I need all the space.

    Thanks for the help!

  11. Skydive Palatka allows 90 or 180 turns on regular turbine loads. Swoopers can get out low, or pull at altitude if they want to do bigger turns.

If there's enough swooping going on, they'll break out the 182 or 206 to fly dedicated 'swoop loads'.

I swooped somebody's french fries, while he wasn't looking. Had he made an unexpected turn after I was committed, I would have been toast. I didn't really check first that nobody else was going to enter the "fry lane" at the same time -- I just depended on my speed and experience.

Yeah, unfortunately I was involved in a similar incident. I was swooping some buffalo chicken strips at Hooters last night, and it turns out my other buddy was trying to swoop them as well. We ended up in the same space at the same time. It resulted in disaster... the chicken strips entangled and went flying out of control; both impacted the ground. We both sustained bruised egos.

The Hooters girl responded with a knee jerk reaction. She suspended all drinking, and banned our flip cup competition....

I worked with St. Johns in New Zealand...the volunteer service was a very very basic service...Advanced Life support was paid full time services.

This is an excellent point, that I took for granted that people knew. There's a HUGE difference between Advanced Life Support (EMT-P aka Paramedic) and Basic Life Support (EMT-B).

People see an ambulance and automatically assume the medics know more than First Aid and CPR. Ignorance is bliss....

If you are under the impression that an ambulance is not a useful item to have on hand at a swooping competition, I think you may have a very unrealistic idea of the dangers of the sport.

An ambulance would certainly be a great idea, please don't put words in my mouth. I previously worked as a Paramedic in New York City - I'm fully aware of EMS's value. Better yet, we're at an airport, after all, so let's have life flight come in for the day. Now THERE'S a great idea!

Until the bill comes, that is.... emergency medical care is expensive folks. If there's no accident, there's no insurance to pay for it. Who's going to pay for the paramedics time? Who's going to pay for operating costs of the ambulance, such as gas? Ever notice that the air conditioning is running in the back of ambulances (there's good reason for it, btw)? Well, that AC isn't running all day on solar power...

Unfortunately, many skydivers do not have medical insurance. How anxious do you think emergency providers are going to be to volunteer time, knowing that if something does happen, they'll be eating most, if not all of the costs involved? Each paramedic call costs over $300, not including medical supplies (ya think ET tubes and IV sets are cheap? Think again...)

Yes, there are good samaritans out there that will volunteer their time. My hat's off to them. I think volunteering their services should be appreciated, but not expected.

DZO's and boogie organizers are barely able to break even, let alone turn a profit. Fuel prices aren't making it easier. Rising medical costs are one of the biggest national issues today. That in mind, you expect free medical coverage at an event 20 people in size? You expect 20 people to share the cost of it? You are calling me unrealistic??? :D yeah... ok..... :S

Not directed at you specifically, but I see all these people that think they have all the answers to the logistics of a swoop comp. Ironically, most of these people have never even been to a comp, the most outspoken aren't even swoopers.

The canopy class at WTS that had an ambulance on site

Most of the competitors in the CPC have close to, or more than 1000 swoops under their belt. I'm one of the newest to competition with ~800 swoops. I would imagine that in a canopy class, people learning to swoop are more prone to major error than someone who's done it 1000 times. Now, before you put words in my mouth again, I'm not saying it cannot happen, just less likely with experience.

Its a swoop competition so they weren't out of line by saying that.

Yes, they (and you) are completely out of line by saying that. If someone dies base jumping, is it appropriate to say, "That's what he gets for taking the risk" in front of friends, right after the accident? If someone dies of lung cancer, would you walk by mourning friends in the hospital saying, "that's what he gets for smoking"? Or maybe this will hit a little close to home: a wuffo walks by you after one of your friends goes in and says, "that's what he gets for taking the extra risk of skydiving". Dale was a fellow competitor and a friend to many. Posting, "Sorry he died but he if take the extra risks by swooping... " for friends, family, and media to read, simply lacks class.... [:/]

What do you mean by, "when the swooping is out of control"? :S That's just ignorant. Competitors exit the plane in a predetermined order, over multiple passes. All swoop one at a time, with sufficient spacing between jumpers, through an established course. How in the world can you say this swooping is 'out of control'? :S

Granted, it may not be a bad idea to have an ambulance on standby. It would actually be nice to always have an ambulance on hand at every DZ, given the amount of 'beerline swooping' in far less controlled environments, by less skilled canopy pilots. [:/]

Went about 3 months without gettin' any, then hooked up with this chick, and she got hers (a couple times), then said she needed to rest a minute. She fell asleep and was cranky when I woke her back up to finish, so I didn't get any.

Dude, when I said "blue ones" I meant blue skies! That sux!

    :D:D:D Poor Jeff

I should have worded it 'didn't get to finish'. I'm sure everyone figured it out! :D

Sooo... here I am, getting sympathy from the married chick! WTF!?! :D See what I mean? God hates me.... he could have a hot single chick feel sorry for me, and want to come over for a sympathy bj or something, but no... I get the friggin married chick!
    :P;)

That was about a month ago. God hates me.

I'm so busy, I don't have time for a real relationship right now... maybe I can find some stripper to hook up with, and then pay her to go away in the morning. [:/]
