The rig that Dan Gryer came up with is a combination of  an NB8 container( extended) and a B12 harness. Now pay close attention here..look at the Ripcord handle. That diagonal tubing inside of the Ripcord, that indicates it is an NB8 ripcord. Why is this significant? The NB 8 has a closer pin spacing than a B12/B4.You have to use the NB8 Ripcord. An NB 8 Ripcord WILL NOT work on a B12 container .

Does this mean that parachute is functional? (besides the age)

I was under the impression that there were a total of 4 aircraft pursuing 305 that night?

    2 Darts

    1 jet trainer

    1 C130

Himms riding shotgun in a helicopter...

    Not sure what else...

Did you know that in Walter Peca/Reca's audio confession he refers to Cossey?

Cossey was a champion skydiver at the time, it's not a revelation that another local skydiver knew his name.

After reading this section in NORJACK  I see that SEVEN aircraft went to locate and follow Flight 305 yet not a single one of them had VISUAL CONTACT!!! None of them saw the Boeing 727 !!!!

Not surprising. The pursuit aircraft were put five miles back and 1000ft above the airliner, which was the standard procedure for a hijacking at that time, according to Cliff Ammerman.

Is there a reason for thinking this is in Alaska? If it was after jump school he wouldn't have been caught dead without his jump wings on his uniform.

He's wearing an Ike jacket, not his Class A's. He also has jump boots and the right hat on. There's a slim possibility he was sent to the division before his assigned jump school. Simplest explanation is these were taken after jump school.

that's correct. I'd expect to see photos of the man during active duty if he was in the military for any length of time.

This would have been after he completed jump school. These were likely taken when he was in Alaska. I dunno, this seems like an odd line of inquiry in Reca, when there are so many other crazy things going on in his story.

I do wonder if he got dishonorably discharged, that might be one of the reasons he has a private marker instead of an issued one.

I said I suspected he "was in the military for a minute".

I stand by that considering that the only pics you keep showing are pics of him that look like he's at Jump School but has yet to receive his wings.

He's wearing a patch for the 11th airborne division in these pictures.

I can't find Reca/Peca anywhere on Fold3.com. I suspect he was in the military for a minute and got discharged for something. He was ashamed of this and made up an entire life of lies to compensate.

This is NOT a Veteran's Headstone. Much like his sloppy fake KGB ID, his fake headstone is rife with mistakes.

The marker looks like something purchased ahead of time, and would not be from the military.

However, I can tell you it took almost 9 months to get the required documents for my mother's marker. She didn't keep any of her documents and it took several interventions from some friends still in the military to finally get her discharge papers.

8 x 40" matches the trim piece above the stair at the end.. that piece was not missing from NORJAK.

Either that piece came loose and fell another 727 off or it was a hoax..

Is there a picture of what this is supposed to be?

Yes, you are wrong about that.

It's weird, I used to feel like one of the few who thought Cooper's survival was possible, and now it seems like it's flipped where it's unusual to find someone adamant about a no-pull.

I want to know why Carr thinks Cooper perished in the jump. He seems insistent on this. Is it because Carr has some piece of evidence nobody else has, or just a general feeling on Carr's part that Cooper was 'incompetent' and a 'novice' ? Carr has read files and talked to a lot of people and he comes out of that still insisting Cooper died in the jump. I want to know why in specific terms, if Carr can explain it.

It's my impression that the vast majority of people with real credentials in this matter, don't share Carr's opinion. Am I wrong about that?

Based on Carr's interviews on the Cooper Facebook page, it appears his confidence in a no-pull is based entirely on his interactions with Cossey.

I don't know what you mean. I searched for "Gunther letter Cooper," but the results were almost entirely Jo (I believe?) arguing with others, or others arguing with one another. The general tendency toward argument here actually kept me from posting at all until Arguer 0 stopped posting last year. It's too much static and I'd like to focus on the information itself if possible.

I know and believe there must be more sober discussion about that letter. Do you remember about when it was occurring and how I might search for it?

It was years and years ago. The same "evidence" was cited: Cooper got the exact title of the article right (which honestly just meant he knew how to use hyphens or had acess to a library) and the color of the parachute was wrong.

I did a targeted search, but the old posts seem largely to be people arguing. I prefer to stay in the "data" realm if I can. Are there particular posts from the past that deconstruct the content of the Cooper letter to Gunther?

    Confirmation bias much?

  14. The focus on the Cooper letter in Gunther's book goes back to earlier chunks of this thread, but let me suggest another theory that explains the "perfect recall" of the title of Gunther's original True Magazine article.

Gunther could have lost the original letter and tried to recreate it based on his own recollection.

I doubt this is the case because it violates the Gunther's own ethics, but it's possible the publisher forced this on him.
