  1. http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2017/09/18/wiretapped-cnn-admits-trump-campaign-breitbart-news-right-mainstream-media-wrong/ Two different things. Not surprised the idiots at Breitbart and those who read their "reporting" can't figure that out. You are funny when you squirm Trump said "Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory" - that's a quote from his Tweet. What's being reported is that the FBI got a court order to tap Paul Manafort's wires - that's very much not the same thing as Obama tapping Trumps wires in Trump tower.
  2. I use exactly those and have for years - the choppers logo prises off nicely with a fingernail. They work great and a bunch of my friends also use them but I suppose it will depend on the shape of your face. Eventually an arm will break where the over the ear section attaches but they're cheap as chips so just buy some more. Keep the broken pair and when the next arm breaks, as long as it's the opposite arm, scavenge a spare off the old set. Alternatively you can remove the arms altogether and use the screws they attach with to attach the elastic and turn it into a strap like a regular set of goggles.
  3. The guy the cops were chasing ran into this guys truck and killed himself and putting him in the hospital. He has a case against the police force. If he had been drunk or high that would have been used against him in those proceedings. The other possibility and actually what I've seen being openly cited by the police as what they were hoping to do, is obtain the evidence to exonerate him - ie: another example of going to great length to protect their own - far more insidious if you ask me.
  4. I have a book containing the Nick Alkemade story, including photographs and artefacts (IIRC a letter from the camp commander certifying the story or something similar). I can try and scan some if anyone's interested.
  5. You know what they say "Guns for show, 20ft pike for a pro[/I]".
  6. Looks something like a US version of a Sealed Knot event: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/81/6e/e5/816ee508538f4761b64cc80564b9f760.jpg Except our Civil War was a few centuries before yours and no one over this side of the pond really gives much of a shit about the outcome... 'cept maybe some in Northern Ireland and then only somewhat tangentially.
  7. This is surely one of the most jaw-dropping Speaker's Corner posts in many, many years. Credit to Ron where credit's due IMO. You'd never get that kind of open admission from rushmc.
  8. One of these: https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2508/3858850863_14f93e79a8_b.jpg If you mean first mobile (cell) phone, then one of these: http://www.retrofones.com/image/cache/data/Philips/Diga/1-500x500.JPG Got it free when I opened a student bank account in 1998. Out round about number 6 on your list - certainly pre-dated number 7.
  9. Meh - we'd all do that if we could get away with it. "Rippling: One member of the crew flashed her athletic physique as she walked through the field with her jumpsuit unzipped" Lols - that's one for Sian to cut out and keep!
  10. Plastic barrier tape - like the police put up round a crime scene or workmen round a hole in the road. Buy a reel on Amazon or somewhere and tie a length to a shoelace. It'll only take you a couple of tries to find a length that works best. If it gets caught on something it will just break. If it doesn't work you've only wasted $5.
  11. In fairness she was a filthy immigrant.
  12. Where do you jump? Where are you going to jump?
  13. [caine]"You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" [/caine]
  14. Be prepared for it not to go. I just need one more aborted balloon jump and I'll be cleared for self supervision on aborted balloon jumps!
  15. Have you looked in a mirror lately? Have you ever had an original thought in your entire life? I don't understand how you can devote so much energy to being wilfully ignorant all the time - I'd be exhausted. Liberal on display That doesn't even make sense.
  16. Who are understandably kinda busy right now, which leaves... The US. Well done on achieving pariah state status.
  17. He'd have got my vote.
  18. This from a week before the election: "Across the country, voters are pinning their hopes on no party achieving a majority, leaders refusing to form a coalition, and the delicate machinery of government basically having a live cow shoved into it." http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/politics/politics-headlines/total-clusterfk-is-britains-best-hope-20170602128710
  19. Depends how you define "European". Kalomna (just south of Moscow) were jumping very young kids when I was there 10 years ago or so. Like 5 or 6 years old - if they could make the harness fit they jumped.
  20. If anything I found transitioning to packing for myself actually made me less nervous as a newbie skydiver. That little "what if I get a line over mal" thought at the back of my head became "I know I'm probably not going to get a line over because I did all those things I need to do to minimise the risk of one". Ditto any "what if I get a >insert mal type here
  21. You're right, Trump. 'EVERYBODY PANIC!!' is the message a real leader would give. Heaven forbid that politicians try and keep people calm during an emergency. Our president, ladies and gentlemen... using a terrorist attack on an ally to promote his own agendas. Class. It's not even what Khan said - his original statement was "Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There's no reason to be alarmed".
  22. How about supporting British industry and innovation and helping fund future developments? Sorry, but I want to be sold it as a product not as a feel good pat on the back. You said you didn't need one so how can you be sold on one? The information is in this thread already. I'm only repeating it when I say smallest, cheapest audible on the market. Innovative with the app and future developments. Sorry if supporting a young local doesn't tip you over the edge. Sorry, maybe I wasn't as clear as I could have been in my original statement. I said I don't think I need one. Maybe there's something I'm not realising/appreciating on the capabilities of this. I don't need one as I already have devices that do what I want, but I wanted to know what makes this a better option to have than an Optima, as if I could be reasonably convinced on that one, I'd happily replace the optima. Also, maybe this has features that an Optima doesn't have, which could make this the better device to have? I was really just looking for real-life usage reasons as to why my kit would be better for having one of these. By a Pebble and sell the Optima second hand - you'll probably make enough of a profit to buy a couple of jumps.
  23. A bag lock always calls for a cutaway. No controversy. A total malfunctions (can't find or pull the main) does not call for a cutaway. No/very little controversy. As you move past being a newb, it is OK to know that a PC in tow is where there is some controversy about whether cutting away first is best. Lots of threads that focus on this. Don't believe those that claim only one side of the argument has any advantages. Understand fully what is being claimed before deciding which side to come down on, or that a particular person's good result proves their position. This. In my view there are two schools of thought, each with perfectly reasonable arguments in favour of which way to go. The don't cutaway school says why bother - you're doing 120mph at or below deployment height. Don't waste time, get your reserve out straight away. The cutaway school says if you have only 1 set of reserve drills you are less likely to brain fart or hesitate. If reserve drill always = "cutaway and deploy reserve" then malfunction will always = your single reserve drill as opposed to stop and decide which version of your reserve drill you should employ in this precise situation. You are doing 120mph at or below deployment height after all. There are other arguments each way about how the gear might behave post deployment but those two arguments tend to be the main ones deployed whenever there's a thread on this topic.
  24. I doubt the leak was in the UK. Both the name and the photos were published in the US - if you're going to leak you leak to your own press, there's no point leaking to someone else's.
  25. That's just happened. After the second release of information in a week, the UK Govt. has just confirmed that it will no longer be sharing security intel' in relation to the attack in Manchester with US security services because they can't be trusted not to simply release it to the press. The US security agencies were told not to release the bombers name and did anyway, were reprimanded for doing so and then did again anyway by releasing forensic photographs of the bomb remains. Enough's enough
