When you do try FF and you mess up, as you will, the default position is belly flying. I believe you're thinking of class 1 and class 2. Class 1a has the same identification markings as the class 1. They are also both mil-spec and both approved by the military for critical use. Here is a roll I just picked up military surplus for very cheap. Should be good for practice. Another tell to look for is the identification yarn required in class 1. On Type VII it is 2 yarns on each side, the salvage, and on Type VIII there will be 2 yarns down the middle of the webbing. Took 100 ft. of rope and wrapped it twice around the wing strut. Wore a climbing harness with a carabiner attached. I had the pilot hold one end and I clipped onto the rope. Eased out of the plane and repelled down about half way and played superman. When we got over the spot I repelled off the end of the rope.
