Diver, If you can come up with just one "good" reason to go below 190 at your size, go for it and get a Velocity 79. Besides feeding you ego a small canopy just increases you potential for pain. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Shawn, "I can't afford it" is a cop out. Any one who can afford to jump, i.e. buy gear, jumpsuit etc. drive to the DZ, buy lift tickets at $20 each can come up with cost of an AAD. If not buying one in not high on you list or priorities then just say so. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

One hour + or - is about right. When you think you have it all done, have a rigger look it over. Remember this sport does not allow mistakes. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Nitecap, Haven't heard "Cardinal Puff" in some time. It took two years, but I finally made Cardinal. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Pulling the vent off center increses canopy pressure, thus slowing decent rate. The holes cut in the T-10 is very low, close to the skirt and does not effect the canopy pressure higher up. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Kirs, By standing up you reduce the area where the briddle can be from 6 ft. to the width of your shoulders. If you pull the briddle and pilot chute in, it should be out of the way. Or else just lay there and pull into it! What the hell no one lives forever. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The first Wonder Hogs had external main pilot chutes that would look realy scary today. Then there was a little thing called a belly band. The first hand deplys where deplyed from the belly band. A twisted belly band killed several people. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

By pulling down on the rear risers you move the apex hole of center thus slowing the vent of air. If the canopy is modified or steeable, you lower the rear of the skirt and raise the front of the skirt. This kills any drive produced by the mods. The result is a small decrease in desent rate. It was a common method of landing sport rounds such as the Piglet canopys. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Dutch, Don't dry clean a rig, it will screw it up big time. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Jayhawk, I have washed several rigs over the years and found the best way it to put the rig a B-4 type kit bag, go to the laundromat and wash it is the large commercial machines. When it comes out hang it out of the sun for 24-36 hours and it is ready to go. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Lewis, RSL's have without a doubt saved lives and will continue to do so. For several reasons I do not jump them but think are good for the sport. I hope you never have one but if you do, stand straight up, reach over your head and grab the bridle. Pull in the pilot chute and pull your reserve. Blue Skies! Bob is special. I first met him over twenty years ago and recently had the honor of jumping with him on my 2000 th. It was a loose load and he left the DC-3 7 or 8. I looked up and saw him coming, no jumpsuit, no gloves and no goggles. He closed 9 or 10 and I'll swear he winked at me. And by the way he has always looked 80, he is now in his late 70's. My first canopy was a C-9 modified to a 7-TU. They would not let me jump it at first because it was too high peerformance. Michael Owens My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
