  1. Fair enough. I'd rather not see our cops armed, either. The reality though is that in today's society that it's practical and even necessary for them to do so. Forget about what we all want for a moment and ask answer this question: Given the rising numbers of immigrant thugs with guns over there, do you think that it's reasonable to arm the police force? If not as a whole, is it reasonable to arm those who wish to be armed? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Sad death...

Agreed on both points. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. Nobody disagrees that it's a pilot's responsibility to learn about the TFRs in his/her area; not me, not Kallend. What the good Professor is saying, I believe, is that this particular TFR is both unenforcable by the authorities and impossible for any pilot, with any gear, to accurately detect its boundries. I think that perhaps these two points are key: Again, I'd love for another pilot to join the discussion and either backup or refute his claims. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 6. I think that what the professor is saying is that given ALL of the technology available to pilots today, that there's simply no way of knowing whether or not they are violating the airspace restriction or not. That's everything from GPS to simple maps. It would be nice if another pilot would chime in and either back him up or refute his claim. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 7. So, pilots have no way of knowing whether or not they're violating the TFR and ATC has no way of enforcing it. Correct? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Agreed. I'm not sure about Rots, but human aggression is NOT a trait of the Pit Bull, not genetically, anyway. For the record, I've never met a human aggressive Rot, either. The owner of these animals ought to be tried for at least manslaughter. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Good point. I'm far from an expert (or even a novice) when it comes to pilots and navigation. Professor, perhaps you could explain this a bit more for those of us who don't understand it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. I have a feeling that he's referring to this part: - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Where do you draw the line at what is and what isn't offensive? What if my Christmas decorations are offensive to others in the office? What if someone's Menorah is offensive to me? AMEN. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  12. Why? After all, there isn't a culture of violence over there. There's simply no need for a gun. Isn't that what you've been telling us all this time? Now you're just making an ass of yourself. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. John, no mention of guns? That ought to make a few heads explode. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. You didn't answer my question. Why don't YOU want the police to have guns. They are, after all, your most trusted public servants, are they not? Those who you turn to when the going gets rough? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. Do you know why he let his official rating lapse? Perhaps it's an issue of finance, or even more likely, an issue of principal. Not sending his rating renewal FEE to the USPA doesn't make him a bad instructor, it doesn't automatically strip him of his skydiving ability, teaching skills, or safety awareness. Does it? Evaulate the instructor on his ability, not whether or not he sent his dues to the USPA. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. Why not? Do you not trust your police force? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. In the case of the scum who shot and missed, why a lesser sentence for being incompetent? I think it's reasonable to show some compassion to the guy who thought twice and layed down his weapon, but a lesser sentence to the guy who was simply a poor shot? Come on! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. You don't need 'em, but you've got a whole shitload of the wrong people who have 'em. Why don't the right people have any? Oh, yeah, you made that illegal. Good move, that one. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  21. If it should be treated like any other medical information then why shouldn't it be treated like any other medical procedure? Christ, kids can't bring asprin to school with a note from their parents, no doctor will see them without signed consent from their parents, but for some reasons it's OK to perform a fairly invasive procedure on a minor without parental consent. I don't get it. Edit: I see now that this has been/is being discussed. I guess I should finish these long threads before replying to the earlier posts. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. The whole terrorism as it applies to fanatical animal rights groups thing has been around a lot longer than the Patriot Act. Hell, I don't see any mention of the PA in the news article. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  23. Funny you mention that, my boss is a JW and we occasionally have a good discussion surrounding religion/the Bible. Just like politics, there's kooks on both sides of the aisle, I think. Edit: You wanna talk about fun, I used to share an office with a Born Again Christian, a JW who is rather high in the JW organization (my perception), and me, a middle of the road agnostic (I think). The fourth member of our team who had a cube down the hall was as athiest as they were relgious. Lots of good discussion back then, and you know what? Everybody got along. Those were the days. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  24. Good. If nothing else I've found that discussion, honest discussion, about the Bible/religion (any religion, really) can be interesting. That is, of course, presuming that both sides are willing to actually listen to and respect the other. Hell, in the long run, what's a few hours a month if it means a peaceful relationship with someone you love? It's nothing. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  25. Because Bush is going to be the last President of the United States. Armageddon is scheduled for next month. Dogs and cats living together. Blue and yellow make green. Rice Crispies go Snap, Crackle, Pop. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
