  1. Tom, I have done a few O2 jumps do you mind discussing the O2 systems you are using? Propblast
  2. As rob pointed out. It isn't widely used. As I pointed out it is sometimes used. Not all paratroopers in large formation are getting training on the old (can't believe I just said that) -1 or the MC6/SF10/FS10 variants. However even in the bigger units they are occasionally exposed. In times past they even had to go to school. 99 percent of the time they are jumping a T10D or T11. Cheers. Propblast
  3. You would think that right. Well in other news the batteries in it are only 5 weeks old . It has also dumped my jumps and in the last 5 days logged 240+ jumps from 3500 with a opening altitude of 600 feet. Something isn't right. Guess I'll be calling L&B. uess anyone has seen this becore Propblast
  4. Promotions are automatic until recovery. (Based on time in grade) Which is why he did not receive the one he was pending. It is just part oft he process. Plus they will always try to recover citizens and they should as stated above. From the Washington post today- ------ On June 7, three weeks before he walked off post, Bergdahl e-mailed Harrison’s daughter, Kayla. “if at any point in time, kim gets a call from red cross, or the mill, no matter when, in a week, month, or years. . . . Keep her from panic and bad ideas. You know what I do, and ash I am still perfecting, actions may become . . . odd. No red flags. Im good. But plans have begun to form, no time line yet. . . . love you! Bowe.” Alarmed, Kayla wrote back, “Exactly what kind of plans are you thinking of?” “l1nes n0 t g00 d h3rE tell u when 1 ha ve a si coure 1ine about pl/-\ns,” Bergdahl wrote back the next day. “There is still time yet for thinking.” “Just don’t do anything stupid or pointless,” Kayla replied. “you know I plan better then that,” Bergdahl wrote back. ------ I just think a lot of folks are burying their head in the sand. I honestly would like to hear more opinions on this. Propblast
  5. So I live at sea level. Today my Protrack has decided to start randomly going off in the living room. Anyone have this happen before? Propblast
  6. Ok I'll buy that for a dollar. I wanted to look at it from a language point of view since English was brought up. Lets use article 85 and go down this track. Article 85 states... “(a) Any member of the armed forces who— (1) without authority goes or remains absent from his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to remain away therefrom permanently; (2) quits his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to avoid hazardous duty or to shirk important service; or (3) without being regularly separated from one of the armed forces enlists or accepts an appointment in the same or another one of the armed forces without fully disclosing the fact that he has not been regularly separated, or enters any foreign armed service except when authorized by the United States Note: This provision has been held not to state a separate offense by the United States Court of Military Appeals in United States v. Huff, 7 U.S.C.M.A. 247, 22 C.M.R. 37 (1956), is guilty of desertion. ----- So Bergdahl a private which I think is important to note wrote this while in captivity. "Leadership was lacking, if not non-existent," he wrote.. The conditions were bad and looked to be getting worse for the men that where actuly (sic) the ones risking thier (sic) lives from attack," he wrote. Sure seems like he decided to fall under this set of criteria at a min: Desertion with intent to avoid hazardous duty or to shirk important service. (a) That the accused quit his or her unit, organization, or other place of duty; (b) That the accused did so with the intent to avoid a certain duty or shirk a certain service; (c) That the duty to be performed was hazardous or the service important; (d) That the accused knew that he or she would be required for such duty or service; and (e) That the accused remained absent until the date alleged. And probably this set. (1) Desertion with intent to remain away permanently. (a) That the accused absented himself or herself from his or her unit, organization, or place of duty; (b) That such absence was without authority; (c) That the accused, at the time the absence began or at some time during the absence, intended to remain away from his or her unit, organization, or place of duty permanently; and (d) That the accused remained absent until the date alleged. Note: If the absence was terminated by apprehension, add the following element (e) That the accused’s absence was terminated by apprehension. Sure seems intent was there. Propblast
  7. http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/13/politics/bowe-bergdahl-return/ The disappearance Bergdahl went missing on June 30, 2009, in Afghanistan's Paktika province, where he was deployed with the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. Several veterans and soldiers call him a deserter who walked off his base. An Army fact-finding investigation conducted in the months after his disappearance concluded he left his outpost deliberately and of his own free will, according to an official who was briefed on the report. The Army has no definitive finding that Bergdahl deserted because that would require knowing his intent -- something officials couldn't learn without talking to the soldier, a U.S. military official told CNN. ------------ I disagree with the last part of this article from the standpoint of the oxford dictionary. Desertion does not involve intent. Being a traitor does. The oxford dictionary in my library says: Desertion: the action of leaving the armed forces illegally. ---------- Desertion is a action not a intent. BB is a deserter who may have had multitudes of other intents. Thoughts? Eta:line breaks Propblast

  9. Rob, The 82d used to send guys through school to be able to jump the -1b in the 70s. Although uncommon regular airborne units have and sometimes do jump steerable rounds Propblast
  10. You continue to prove my point. You are to dense to realize it. Glad you are btw. Propblast
  11. there's a world of difference between the two. Sloppy mistake or not, Americans who get caught in other countries with guns or drugs are subject to that nation's laws. He is hardly a prisoner of war. The starting point for the family is the State Department, not the President. This UK article doesn't mention any response other than the 911 operator. BB was not a POW either Guilty before proved innocent... way to defend the Constitution of the Disgruntled States of Right Wingery. You know nothing about me but make that sweeping statement. How very open minded of you. Perhaps I look at the evidence that has been posted including the Rolling Stone article.( which is not know as a publication of the right wing)and make a informed opinion instead of one based Wiley on your hatred of the other political party. Project much there guy??? Personally I will wait for the finding of the courts martial. I have been watching the POW-MIA sites for a few years and everything was bring Bowe Home.. Do not forget Bowe... now.. like you he has been convicted by the right wing guys creaming their jeans on command from the Tea Baggery Right. As I said before... the guy may be a douche... but he is our douche... and last I checked we really do try to repatriate ALL Americans. It is part of the deal. Listen. You said it not me. Or did I just imagine all that right Wingery talk above? Look through this thread. We got him home I support it. I don't agree with the method but it is done. He is not and never was a POW. He is a traitor and should be hung. I'm also sure he won't be. Many good men died looking for him. That is a fact. That you can't argue with me. Although I am sure you will try. He made his bed. He is being called out. He should pay. People jumping on his band wagon or making it a political issue just amaze me. But please continue your poorly informed weak argument. You will find out that you are wrong with time. Enjoy your eve. Propblast

  15. Just the vibe I got from a couple of interviews I have seen.. in-group out-group dynamics.. pretty blatant. When you go to the enemy you are in the out group. Expecting anything else is dumb. Sorry to be so blunt. Propblast
  16. Have you noticed that the soldiers involved in his "disappearance" have all resoundingly have come down hard on BB. This incident has reinforced some hard feelings at least in those folk. I haven't seen one report yet from a member of his unit that said he did anything but walk to the enemy. Propblast
  17. Any and all citizens should be recovered and expect for the government to do so. This includes BB. However he is a deserter and should face the punishments of one. Propblast
  18. You have to make it a partisan political issue as well huh? Alot of surprises in this thread. People that normally make good arguements coming out like rabid dogs. Propblast
  19. The partisan politics both ways kill me on this issue. Take the politics out of it. BB did long ago. Propblast
  20. I happily have friends that live in Normandy and others that participate in the celebrations every year. I have been lucky in life to know many D-Day paratroopers. They are a breed apart and to this day I am in awe. Propblast
  21. No, he was promoted in absentia. Captured a private, released a sergeant. Correct. As to your other question of me. His status in the international community and as put up by the military over five years are....telling. Propblast
  22. He didnt go through any promotion cycles....until he walked away. Propblast
  23. You couldnt be further from the truth. Just like you look at this as a lawyer. I look at this as someone who has expierence with UCMJ. You cant throw your expierence out and just tell everyone thiers means nothing. By the way what was BB classified as during his 5 years out there in the wild? Have a wonderful day. Propblast
