  1. The design and the trim of the airfoil is the most important for colapse and turbulence resistence
So, the center pressure (CP) of the airfoil, the camber, inlets position and the trim is very important for colapse and turbulence resistence.
We know that when we want more airfoil performance (speed and flare power) we lost some safety
So, for HP canopys the CP is put more rear instead of the normal 25% of airfoil and the camber is more increased for more lift coef
It make the canopy more performant but less safe in turbulence.

  2. The problems with Cypres and Vigil never resulted in expulsion or banishment of the market.
They always had protection and the second, third, fourth, fifth... opportunity
If the Argus was alone in the market, Argus would never banned
So was easy to destroy the weaker party. Hypocrisy
The actual situation of the Aviacom is can solved only in justice by court
In my opinion, In moment the Aviacom have no other alternative and all possible palliative for try to remedy the problem and their customers can not have definitive effect
I understand the Aviacom, when they were put against the wall, they can only give a response to customers after court decision

  3. I do not understand how still misgivings
about if the loops are broken before or after impact
If the loop was cut after the impact the cutter will show many filaments loop with signals clear that they were
torn and that not was cut by the guillotine cutter
Today have many forensic and engineering laboratories that can give the fast and conclusive answer

  4. I don't agree
For several years of experience with armides (kevlar) and spectre (PE) lines in all situations the kevlar broken more easy than spectre.
You can make a simple experience. Try to cut one line of kevlar and other of the spectre with scissors blunt
You can see that the line kevlar broken and cut all and the spectre don't cut all wires

One of reasons tha the kevlar is refused for loops is exactly because the less abrasion and elasticity resitence that can make expontaneous broken when suject for fast and strong tension or pression, that can cause the open container out of the time when the loop is in poor conditions or it is suject a very surge strong forces.

  5. I agree with the John, I don't understand that the dynnema (polyetilene fibres) was utilized for aad reserve loop for all time. The superior elasticity and resistence of the dynnema can avoid the normal separation of the loop filaments .This problem is incresed because the design of the AAD cutters of today
Is urgently necessary to make another cutter design with guilhotine free after fire. Also I think too that the kevlar (aramide) is more suitable for to make the reserve aad loops because the aramide have less broken resistence and less elasticity

  6. Be sure that the Onix is the best cross braced canopy in the moment.
The onix is very ahead of the other concepts of the current canopys
If some top pilot to compete with the onix you can believe that will win even to the velo
I am not sponsored by the atair! Only I know the modern canopys project and I admire the excellent work of the atair in the onix.

  7. "I did not bartack them; I used the Jump Shack non-sewing finger trapping method and it has been working well."

    Hi Nick
Caution. The no bartacked lines with tecnhora lines
    don't seem good idea

The tecnhora lines is aramide. The aramide is very sensitive to knots, abrasion, moisture and UV. The jump shack method "non-sewing finger trapping method" is good for spectra lines because the spectra is not sensitive to knots but no good for aramide lines.
This process is similar than the knots and knots in aramid lines can make the reduction of resistance in 10 to 30 %

  8. I think that the Blade is equal to Nitro but with an more accentuated trim. Even so only the maker can conform this.
I already had a Nitro 88 and I liked, good openings, good landings, even so to canopy it possessed a trim a lot of flat.
About the aramid technora lines, you don't need to worry.
These lines maintain dimensional stability and resistance for hundreds of jumps, since that you don't put the lines exposed in the sun for a lot of hours, because the aramid is very sensitive to the UV rays and it degrades its resistance when exposed. The aramid is also more sensitive the abrasion, then you have to verify well if the gromets of the slider is not rough.
Of rest the stability and small volume qualities of the aramid technora lines supplant well the disadvantages.

  9. It is your opinion, but remember that the gelvenor fabric is double coated fabric with similar filament of the other know fabrics.
Double coated fabric = more durability, more volume than fabric with only one coated side

  10. The Demon is a canopy complete different of the Stilleto.
The Demon have a 3/1 of Aspect Ratio
The Stiletto have 2,68/1 of AR
This can be that the span of the Demon is more big than a stil with same size, and the cord of the Demon is more short of the stilleto.
Like is a general knowing the canopys with increased AR have less induced drag and better aerodynamic performance (speed, glide ratio and lift)
Also, the technical concept if the Demon is complete diferent of the stilleto. The demon have a end closed cells, and 3 and 6 cel with triangle in nose for better opennings and end cel pressurization (like a modern paragliders).
The construction process of the demon is different with 2 top and bottom panel for cel and sewings for inside of the canopy. It increase the performance because make a less parasit drag.
The demon have no more size of the stilletto but have more volume because the construction process and a bit volume of the Gelveanor fabric (more volume but more durability)
In flight the demon is different and can be load much more than a stilleto.
When you load the demon to low you can seem that is a big canopy because the particular characteristic of this canopy.
The demon opening (when proper packing) is fast and soft in all situations
The only handicap of the demon is when you load it more than the 2 the spectre lines that came with it can stretch and decrease the performance. Is a good idea to put aramid or vectran lines in this canopy when load it more than 2.

  11. For me the better process to tune the brakes of the parafoil is the following:
After opening seek the stall point.
The ideal point of stall is near with the hands the kidneys
Then see the length difference and adjust the length of the brakes for to have the hands close to the waist (kidneys) in the stall.
The point of brake setting for openings is + - 3 or 4 inches above the full flight or even in full flight
For to avoid the pilot in front of the nose use a bridle with 1,5 meters and F111 pilot chute with 90 cm diameter.
