  1. Low profile is key. The goggles or glasses need to be as close to the face as possible or they will likely catch wind. I'm a repeat customer of Sport Rx. I started with the G103 (goggle), then bought a pair of Bolle Boomslangs, and just got a pair of Bolle Spirals, all of which were ordered with perscription lenses. The G103's were ok, but eventually the foam padding will peal away from the goggles and you'll have to screw around with super glue to fix it (which never turns out quite right for me). Both pair of Bolle's are awesome. I still have my first pair (now 2 years old) and wear them almost daily. I just bought a new pair for the hell of it. If your going with perscription lenses, I strongly recommend getting sunglasses over the goggles. They hold up great and you can wear them all the time. Hope this helps... John Z.
  2. Thanks for all the input. I think I'm just going to keep my PC105. You can still find a few new ones on e-Bay once in a while. Somebody still has a few sitting in a warehouse somewhere. John Z.
  3. Does the PC109 have the port for a Cam Eye on the camera or the docking piece? If it's on the docking piece, how does the camera + docking piece combination compare in size to a PC105?
  4. I currently jump with PC105 and am pretty happy with it. I just wondered if anybody has experience with PC105 & PC109... Which do you like better? How does the smaller lens compare? How do the camera's compare in size and performance? I've been seeing some good deals on the PC109 lately, and might consider picking one up. Thanks, John Z.
  5. It doesn't really bother me that much. I'd fly the canopy either way, but little details like this should be improved on over time. Most other canopy companies don't have this problem, so why should Icarus. I hope that Johnny1488 is right, so it won't be an issue any more. Thanks for the input guys. John Z.
  6. I was hoping so... I've got a CF2 129 on the way. Thanks for the info. John Z.
  7. Does anybody know if Icarus ever started using a better quality logo material on their canopies? My last crossfire2's logo's were cracking and peeling at 100 jumps. You'd think they would have fixed that problem by now. John Z.
  8. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good digital still camera with bite-switch capabilities. I'm not a professional camera/video guy, so something small and easy to use that takes a decent picture is all I'm looking for. Thanks, John Z.
  9. I've seen many different kinds of lenses. The Diamond 0.3 is my lens of choice. The Diamond lenses are a bit pricey, but they are built specifically for skydiving. Remember, you get what you pay for.... Also, a lot of those cheaper lenses are deeper in size, allowing less light to get into the camera. The more natural light that gets into the camera, the cleaner the picture (from my understanding). Also 0.3 is wider than 0.45 or 0.5, allowing you to get more in frame if you want to be close to the action. I just freefly and basically have my camera on for fun, and recalling what we did that day. If you are planning on filming 4-ways something like that, you might want something else.
  10. Check out the following link to see what we missed. I'll be there next year! I hope everybody had a good time. See you in a few weeks. http://skydivechicago.com/gallery/mexico2005
  11. Myself and a few friends will be there. Does anybody have any recommendations for an inexpensive and clean motel in the area? How much are jumps going to be? Any info would be appreciated.
  12. I just checked out that search engine. Thanks a lot for the info. There is a small weekend-only DZ 25 miles from Ft. Myers, but I'm thinking it's going to be Clewiston or Lake Wales. I want to do some fun jumps too.
  13. I'm going to be down in Fort Myers with my girlfriend December 30th to January 3rd. She wants to do a tandem and I was wondering where the best places are that would be relatively close to Fort Myers. I've only been to Deland and Sebastian (as far as Florida goes), and they are a pretty good hike from the Fort Myers area. Any info will be appreciated.
  14. Thanks for all the input... I'm thinking we might go to Florida and hit Deland, Sebastion and maybe Lake Wales and Zephyrhills... I've been to Deland before, but none of my travel buddies have... I know they'll like it. South America would be cool, but we're all on a budget. We did Ixtapa last year and would go again this year, but that's also a bit too expensive.
  15. Me and a few friends are looking for a good place to go for a quick 5 day vacation towards the end of January or the beginning of February. Florida, southern California, Eloy... Where is it the most happening this time of year? Anybody aware of any boogies this time of year? Isn't there a Key West boogie some time in the winter? We are all free fliers and just looking for altitude, turbine aircraft, reasonably prices hotels nearby, warm weather and other places to go at night. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
  16. I just sold my IP5... It was a nice lightweight easy-to-use camera. I used an aluminum Bonehead L-bracket on a Bonehead Optic helmet and a Diamond .30 lens. A jump-buddy of mine works in a machine shop and was able to shave down the bracket a little to fit the camera perfectly. The only reason I sold it is because I got a great deal on a new PC-105, which has a better picture quality, a LANC port and is compatable with what most other skydivers are using (It's nice to be able to firewire back and forth between cameras... so you can see yourself once in a while). I think that it is a great starter camera though. Hope you enjoy it. Johnny Z.
  17. Thanks for all of the replies. PC-105 is what I've been looking for. I'm sure I'll find a decent deal on one somewhere.
  18. I'm interested in buying a new PC-style camera. There are so many out there and many of them have very similar features. I was wondering which of them are the lightest and smallest while still providing the important features (LANC port, good picture quality, etc.). Any info will be appreciated. JZ
  19. I've never heard of them before... Good looking stuff in the gallery on their web site though. Are they in the United States somewhere?
  20. Container: 1) Vector Micron 2) Mirage G3 or G4 3) Javelin... I wouldn't have a Voo Doo... I've seen quite a few chops that have been blamed on the design of this container. Jumpsuit: 1) Michigan- awesome suit, very well built, pretty fast production time, and they will make sure you get the suit you want 2) Flite Suit- Very well built also, but a bit pricey and it took a pretty long time for delivery. I ordered a Kurupee suit ad in my opinion...it was crap. They didn't use very good stitching and I could tell when it was new that it would fall apart.
  21. I want to know who makes a quality pair of past-the knee freefly shorts? I'm looking for solid construction, freefall friendly pockets (ones that close and don't blow out during freefall), and great looks. Any info will be appreciated. JohnnyZ
  22. I think I would be a teacher (preferably a high-paid one)... The summers off would be really nice. I travel a lot with my curent job (truck driver), which is cool too. I get to stop at various dz's when I want to. It would be nice to have a less time consuming career, though.

    Best Heist Movie?

My vote is for "Oceans 11"...
  24. 338 this year (March 13th to December 31st). I only had 34 jumps the prior year/first year. I'm going for 500 this year. This sport just keeps getting cooler and cooler. In 29 days I be landing on the beaches of Ixtapa. It will be a great start to a geat year!
  25. There are plenty of cool dropzones all over the country, and plenty of different companies to work for that will put you near them. Go to a truckstop and look for a magazine rack (usually near the door closest to the truck fuel island). They have these little magazines about the size of a TV Guide with advertisements by trucking companies looking for drivers. Get yourself one of those and start making phone calls. The should all be able to tell you where they go and how much free time you can get on the weekends.
