There is actually a much easier way. Those who don't have visa's to work here can still own companies. For instance, if you open a business in several different countries etc... You can open a business in CA for $30 filing fee to have a DBA name. Open a bank account in that business name, have people pay the business and not the person. You have to pay taxes that way, but its nice and neat. The entity breaking the law by employing the individual is the individual themselves since they own the business. Now that doesn't work for staff positions where you have to fill out an I9 as an employee, but it works for freelance positions.

Just wanted to suggest to anyone looking for a full face helmet... Check out the Aero. I just got one and can't believe how much time and attention they put into it. Lighter than my G3 by quite a bit, better visibility, fits my head better, integrated cutaway... love this thing!

What everyone has said is correct. Both face tail, sit flyer closer to prop. Sit flyer gets high in door, HD lower in door and tilts head back to see sit flyer. Grab outside hand and go. HD flyer needs to have straight torso… Don't let the hips sag. Sit flyer hops up a tiny bit and kicks feet into relative wind.

Generally people that are just learning to sit fly have a slower fall rate as well because they are usually flying heavily on their arms. Lots of ways to speed up sit flying… any of them know how to stand?

I jumped an Xfire2 169 at 1.2, opened and flew great, almost always on heading no line twists in 300 jumps. Jumped a 149 at 1.4 Opened about the same, handling in turbulence about the same, but turned and landed faster which was to be expected. Love the XF2. If you want the best answer to your question though, and any question relating to canopies or gear, ask the manufacturer. They designed and build the canopy so they'll be able to best tell you pro's and con's.

Good idea to try to stick with the same coach. I like to stick with a couple different coaches as its nice to get different perspectives and teaching styles. As far as slow speed sit, there are a lot of techniques, but to be honest… try a faster tunnel. I am a big dude (215 lbs). and I couldn't sit fly at Perris when it first opened… It took a huge amount of effort. When I started learning head down I started in Eloy then went back home to LA and kept flying at iflyhollywood. I felt like I had gone backward.. couldn't fly for $%*)@#. Took a trip to Utah and progression went crazy fast. It is true that's its the flyer not the tunnel, but it does make a difference when your learning in regard to the smoothness of the air and the speed of the tunnel, especially if your a big dude. I can fly on my head and sit at slower speeds in a lot of tunnels, but I definitely progressed faster when I started flying in faster, smoother air.

As far as sit flying goes… the core of your body, back shoulders, everything… gives you a huge amount of power and is so important. It all starts with the core, then moves out from there.

So I am starting to get back into the swing of things and working on my sitflying some. Before I stopped (about 3 years ago) I was to the point where I was stable off the net and working on carving, side slides, etc... Needless to say I was a little rusty getting back into it (started back about a month ago) and am now flying at a slower tunnel than I was before (Im in orlando now). The mechanics are slowly coming back to me (a little over an hour of tunnel time since I started back up) but I cant seem to stay off the net in a sit unless im moving forward or carving (which is really more of a modified back/sit carving).

The instructors I have worked with have said they think its due to speed of the tunnel and some minor tweaks I need to make in body position (remembering to keep my head back, and occasionally having to remember to keep my hips down).

Those problems will be worked out with more time, and I think I will be able to overcome the speed issue with my sit, but will this be more of an issue when I eventually more to HD? I think its going to be a while before I progress that far anyways, but I tend to look ahead at things. Due to time/money I am currently only doing the tunnel and havent made the transition to actually jumping again (still need gear, recert jump, etc...) so I would like to be able to progress as far as I can in the tunnel.

Does anyone know of a good tunnel coach in the orlando area that may be able to help with this? I havent found a freefly tunnel coach in orlando yet and I think it would be a lot more beneficial to work with a coach regularly than to keep jumping from ifly coach to ifly coach since not all of them know where I am at in my progression.

***This is really good news, the ISG design is really, really smooth. I've flown VossVind and it's pretty awesome. The VossVind tunnel uses an airlock to allow people in and out without having dead air above the net.

Has anyone flown in both a re-circulating iFly/Sky Venture tunnel and an ISG tunnel like VossVind? I'd be curious to hear from folks who've flown in both on how they compare in terms clean air flow and anything else that makes you favour one over the other.

I've flown in an ISG tunnel as well as ifly utah, denver, hollywood, eloy, perris, and dallas. Each of the ifly tunnels feel different as they are all different generations. The ISG tunnel felt VERY similar to ifly Dallas. Both were very smooth, very fast air. The ISG might have been faster. It lifted me 8 feet off the net on my head and I had a lot of lift left in my arms and legs if I wanted to go higher. And that was at 85% and I weighed 220lbs…

The Sony A7r is out now and A7s is coming in July. Both would be very cool to see in the air. A7s especially on night jumps, ISO up to 400,000 extended. And records 4k (with a separate recorder :(

Make sure that everyone's group order and pull altitudes are taken into consideration before getting on the plane. I've seen some pretty scary stuff on night jumps where this didn't happen. Some people may do a tracking jump, pull high, then fly back to the DZ across the flight line… Or groups of trackers… Some may decide they want to change their pull altitude from 3k to 5k because its at night… which is fine, but that needs to be known before jump run… Communication and planning is key.

I will say that throwing cards out of the back of a C-130 is about one of the most fun things I've done with a rig on…

If you'll notice, my only posts to this thread beyond the first one were only in response to questions or comments. (including this one).

True, $750 isn't a lot of money. Not really to me and not to you apparently, although an hour of tunnel would be pretty nice to buy with it…

But for some $750 is a month of income… And for others its the tip they leave on a bill in Vegas. Why does it matter what the amount is?

A related story… A friend of mine had someone walk into his bank with a fake ID and drain $6,000 out of it. He obviously panicked and went to the bank and they figured out what happened. Put the money back into his account right away at their loss… They said they had the guy on camera at the teller etc.. But weren't going to report it to police. To them $6,000 wasn't enough to bother. Surprised him and me when he told me about that. Criminals often know the thresholds for that sort of thing and don't cross it so they don't get pursued. That's sort of sad to me, like saying there are no consequences if you steal under a certain amount.

Back to this… its not worth my time to actually track Robert down and try to have locals arrest him, nor would it be worth anyone else's. Not the point here. I do think its worthwhile to report him though, might save the next sucker $750 and they can fly that hour of tunnel...

Here is warrant information on him. This is one of two. He has two warrants as it turn out. One for "obstructing a peace officer" and another for "deceptive practices" which is the legal term for stealing $750 apparently…

Well it actually wasn't a pain at all to get the case report. I need to edit out some addresses and personal info that won't be valid anymore anyway… and I'll attach it. After talking to the city attorney's office, I don't know if they'll send me a hard copy of the warrant itself although it was issued in July 2012.

In response to a few previous posts…

In regard to "whining about having money stolen from"… Well ya… Should we simply allow criminals and con artists to steal from people at will? Just move on and forget about it and allow them to continue doing it while everyone else makes an honest living? Allow them to make dropzone.com classified's a place you can't trust.

In regard to the post about "I'd go find him and beat him up." Uhhh… wow, couldn't think of a worse idea for about 1,000 reasons. The biggest being that you'd go form being the victim of theft to being the subject of an assault and battery investigation which would leave you in worse shape than the thief you were going after. Then maybe that person would sue you for damages, medical care etc… and take the rest of your money.

In regard to another post. Yes, he took me for $750 total. No its not a huge sum. I've probably spent far more of my time than $750 is worth pursuing the issue. It was a huge pain to go through the process of investigation with the PD while I was working on a long term freelance gig and putting in 16 hours a day. I really considered just shrugging it off. However again, should we simply allow people like that to take from others and never have to pay the price.

The point of making a post here about it was awareness of the guy. I got an email from a guy in NC who said Traynham pulled the same thing on him, except with the "sale" of a gps unit. Had I known that before… I would have avoided him. So maybe this will help others doing business with him or being around him think twice. Would you want the this guy near your gear bag, maybe you have an audible just sitting out, or some cash in your logbook pouch? Would you want to know that the guy next to you has a long history of theft and an outstanding warrant? I would...

Oh… and Robert… if you didn't do anything wrong… you didn't have any problem sharing your name. Could you also share your current address and phone number?? Or even city is fine.

Working on it. Just actually got off the phone with the records division of the Bozeman city attorney's office. It's kind of a pain in the butt process… The detective's office has to sign off on the last 2 levels of approval for the reports etc… to be public information and available to me. Then they have to process my formal request… But shouldn't take that long. In the meantime….

Well since Robert has surfaced here and felt the need to approach the issue with hostility instead of any attempt to apologize and get me my $ back, I'll pull up my email archives and post our conversations via email and I'll contact the DA in Bozeman and see if I can get a copy of the police reports and warrant information. At least those in our community can know the kind of person they may potentially be dealing with.

And again Robert, even after 2 years and having you steal money from me. I'm happy to put in the past and clear it up in Montana as well if you'll send me back the money I sent you. But regardless of how long it is… 2 or 10 or 50 years… I'm not going to just let it go. You can't steal from people and just shrug it off.

Well look who we have here… You do indeed have a warrant out for you in Montana, but its not a federal warrant (maybe I shouldn't say that)… but oh well. That would be why customs or federal officers would not stop you.

Would be more than happy to clear this up with you and officer Barge at the Bozeman police dept, who personally paid you a visit. You didn't seem to want to clear it up when he offered to give you a lift to UPS to get a tracking number you said you lost… and also didn't have a car. When he returned the next day, whoever you lived with told him you hitchhiked back east. Need a copy of the police report or warrant? I could post it here?

Did however notify some DZO's in the area you used to frequent according to your dz.com posts. One DZO (who I can name after asking his permission if you like), said you skipped out of town on him for $450…

I don't ever get on dizzy anymore. However, a friend told me about this bullshit. Let me get this straight... I committed the federal crime of interstate wire fraud in Montana for a used Pilot then skipped town... to the East coast... From MONTANA. I must have been criminal of the year. God damn. I should start recruiting fucking Nigerians for this shit. I mean hell who wouldn't want to sell a 1200 dollar canopy to leave home and take an 800 dollar drive into fugitive status in the deep dark East. By the way my name is Rob Traynham. This shithead bought a canopy from me 2 fucking years ago. I am also pretty sure he is either completely full of shit or customs officers at LAX yesterday need serious remedial training.

Just wanted to let my fellow skydivers to be on the lookout for Robert Traynham. He is in fact a skydiver, but is also a scam artist. I "purchased" a pilot 188 from him while he lived in Bozeman, Montana. He took the money and broke off communication and never sent the gear. As soon as the Bozeman police payed him a visit, he skipped town back to the east coast before they could get a warrant signed. He does now have a warrant out. Believed to be in Tennessee or North or South Carolina. He has family in TN I believe. If anyone sees him or knows where he is, the police would like to chat with him about interstate wire fraud...

Are they just trying to beat Luigi's record of a 37ft with a 35?

Those are pretty cool machines. The rigger that trained me was rebuilding one while I was in his shop years ago. It was a beautiful beast.
