  1. I would like to share your story on facebook. it personifies Scotty and the old school mentality that I found so attractive in Skydiving.. awesome story... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  2. Tell that to the woman who fell out in Ohio. attitudes like that get people killed.. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  3. bull shit. You do not stop putting a harness on for pictures or anything else and if you do you are placing your students in undue danger. That student is on her way to the airplane with her instructor. If that is his routine he is acting dangerously with his students lives. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  4. Mr. Cooleo there is clueless. I bet he pulls the main lift webs down as far as he can before exit and the chest strap becomes chest high and she becomes a squatting skydiver.. other wise this looks very dangerous.... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  5. Some are here to learn and rigger robs comments are definitely appropriate to the conversation. IF you are walking to the plane and then tightening legs traps as one gentleman suggested his coworkers are doing that is,a problem. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421

  7. 3 or 4 chuckers in 10k tandems. 1st was after 4000. ALL were on strong harnesses. ... Sigma harness adjusted properly help get student in a seated position and takes most pressure off femulal arteries. . Some people are going to get sick. JUST no way around it... 8. If you are jumping igmas you might review the studentharness docs.. if a student can't stand straight they can't arch either. That is COUNTER productive. JUST because you feel better about it doesn't make it right.. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  9. I've had 2 reserve rides at max weight 1 on a master and 1 on a tvr both were spinning mals. They accelerate rapidly at that weight and breakaway was tough on both. BOTH reserves flew and landed very well at 500lbs.... The mots difficult part was the breakaway. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421

  11. When its to cold for the TI to safely perform their duties. That will depend greatly on each TI. bulky clothing and gloves change the game especially in touch and feel which are important during EPs. in Some countries TIs jump in the cold most of the time and are accustomed to it and the intricacies of wearing heavy gloves and clothing. practice practice practice.......many thin layers and tight clothing are my preferred clothing and Latex gloves covered with skydiving Gloves usually do the trick for me. the winter gloves from Square One are awesome also even in sub zero... Just my 2 cents Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  12. I have taken several 300+lb passengers over the years with a personal weight ranging from 160 to my current weight of 185 it can be done safely. The manufacture does not condone it or allow it so you are on your own when you do it. I have 100s of jumps at 500lbs. no issues what so ever on Sigma and Vector. I have 3 injuries on passengers over 250 on strongs. All 3 were in great physical shape and 2 decided to put their feet down on landing while being instructed to pick them up resulting in ankle injuries and 1 was a stand up landing that resulted in a broken tibia. Turned out he had an existing fracture from martial arts and was told not to skydive. Old Strong harnesses will cut off blood flow and make lifting feet more difficult on over weight passengers. I use 60" drogues in my sigma 340 for slower freefall and openings which really helps with the big guys. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  13. Shooting sw 720 's 60fps What are the fastest rendering settings for USB?? We were getting 12 minutes for 6.5 minutes video but someone changed settings in USB and now it's 23 minutes.. Please help... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  14. Faa says must meet manufactures requirements and manufacturers say Faa medical so by virtue of manufacture requirement Faa requires an FAA medical for tandems in the US. And FAA requires by virtue of manufactures requirement one must have attained a uspa D license .. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  15. Your statement might be true if you don't care about shitty loose hookups and don't mind having the student floating around on you. Sometimes it is the only way to get a proper hookup. There is no reason to have a student sit on your lap from take off to exit. 182 I almost always have students sit on my lap at hookup. Navajo same unless I get on my knees. 16. Your statement is correct in discription and false in accuracy about providing proof. It has been my experience helping others through the process with their medical and tandem ratings with DUIS that FAA has provided a way to earn the medical back and in most cases that includes meetings and treatment as well as letters of reference from others. Ie: sponsors, wives, bosses, counselers. Also they may provide a meeting sheet to be signed by a sponsor or meeting chair. Some have a spot for phone numbers as well. I have even beeN contacted by an AME to verify attendance. There is,a way for pilots and TIS and want to be TIS to get past their addiction and into the pilots seat if they are serious and honest... 17. Thank you for sharing your wonderful Memories with us. She died as a skydiver and we will remember her as such and we as a community will learn from this and progress. 19. Yes FAA is a Higher Power that has helped many get sober. AA is a spiritual program not a religious program Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  20. I did 3200+ in 3 years out of 182's . I did 32 in 1 day out of a fast 57 straight tail... just me the pilot and students. Longest day of my life... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421

  22. Most of your knowledge and sharing would be inaccurate and missleading. to say groupon dzs only offer lower altitudes and smaller planes is just plane not true. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  23. This is great advice. Social media is the here and now. learning to manipulate it will get the results you are not getting from your print adds. The modern consumer reads reviews and looks for the best deals. Most could care less about how safe you are or how high you take them. Reviews Reviews Reviews..... Stay away from yelp though. Have them visit Dropzone.com and your facebook Page before and after their visit and jump. Have them Check in on social media. Offer a $5discount on video to check in. Create a buz. post tandem and fun jump photos and videos every week on your page to drive likes and traffic. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  24. I have never seen one throwing them out at 4k. Have a local DZ throwing them out at 6500 regularly. Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
  25. wafoos could care less about full altitude or outside video. those only matter to skydivers. Any more tandem mills are moving to turbines and giving 11 to 12 k and customers cant tell the difference in 6 seconds. doing this with the money they are making in volume vs higher prices. Truth is people just want to say I skydived and all the little things that matter to us as skydivers are lost to them... Uncle/GrandPapa Whit Unico Rodriguez # 245 Muff Brother # 2421
