  1. I’m not confused as I think this is total bull too! The closing loop is nothing more than cypress cord just like any other rig. You are not making an alteration and I know plenty of riggers that make them. It is also the first time that I have ever heard this. I agree, I will make mine too. A lot of DZ's use Kenner rubber bands, I use Kenner rubber bands on all mains, pilot emergency and reserves that use bands That is silly as every rig made has its own list of proprietary parts. You also have to change them every time! Really, that would be a neat trick if the cypres cut the loop and it wasn’t there. That is absolutely untrue as I pointed out in my PM, so quit trying to mislead people into thinking otherwise! Again not true. You have been told and shown several times how to prevent this since it is a concern to you. Your concern is obviously self preservation since it can be prevented. If you were truly concerned about the skydiver’s safety wouldn’t you want the rig that has the longest and best safety record in regards to this issue? No rigger has ever been questioned about it in thirty years. And I know it “could happen” well so could the next ice age. I and other riggers are confident enough in both our competency and documentation that it would stand any challenge should it ever arise as in any other rigging scenario. So say what you want as long as you want because you can not change the fact no matter how you try and twit is that an over tightened Racer has never killed anyone in over thirty years, a claim that certain other manufactures can not make!
  2. Why? What is your issues with hybrid?
  3. What does that have to do with being rigger friendly? In fact it would make it more rigger friendly as it is one less thing a rigger would have to make.
  4. When did they start covering the PC completly? I just looked at both and they are still semi-exposed pop tops. They are not a completly covered PC like a RWS rig.
  5. Well, since it was a non-rigger (owner) that showed me, I guess that blows the confidense defense. The FACT still stands no matter what you say that NO malfunction has occurred. Another FACT: No rigger has EVER been questioned by the FAA or any other legal entity for your scenario.
  6. Not mine!Don't know, it didn't say. It just listed the cubic inches and that is what would fit. I think Howard is jumping a 98/75 in that red power racer that he has. Stay safe, Mike
  7. I don't care what you think, since you are not an attorney, have no case law or letter rulings from the FAA to support your theory. Your log book is a legal document. Do you think that you are 100% responsible for everything that happens to that rig once it leaves your control? You can what if till the cows come home, the FACT stands that NO malfunction has occurred.
  8. Jump Shack has made power racers as small as 75/75. To give you an idea of how small and light Jump Shack can make rigs the racer tandem generally comes in at around 38lbs.
  9. Really, and how did you determine that since you are not only the only person that I have heard that from but it is also NOT true? Do you know what the function of a speed bag is? It is not to slow it down but rather to prevent line dump and bag strip. If that were the case then why does the reserve deploy so quickly? Again, not true as the canopies are used for both. What do you think shock cord is? A covered rubber band maybe? And what do you base this on, since besides Jump Shack just about every emergency pilot rig made uses rubber bands?
  10. Teardrop for one and about every other rig if you know how. And don't even ask how on this public read post. If you want to know see me at the PIA. And it is still a non-issue as it has never in over thirty years resulted in a malfunction! That is the FACT, the rest is nothing more than unproven speculation at best.
  11. Really? I bet Javelin, Wings and a few other manufactures would disagree with you on that. Then the issue is not the Rig it is the lazy rigger that needs to give up rigging. And unfortunately the same thing has happened on every other type rig. Ask any rigger with any experience if they have seen a rig with a frayed closing loop?
  12. Riggers can and have over tightened ANY rig. One even resulted in a fatality (50lbs and not a Racer). In fact ALL three of the items that you listed above can be done on any rig by any rigger. And you were told by me how to prevent tampering and it is also listed in the manual. In addition, in over 30 years that Racers have been made there has never been a malfunction as a result of the senario that you posted. So now let me make sure I understand you concern: You are worried about something that could happen that in thirty years has never happend? Why? [Quote]nor do I like the pop top design that can create a snag hazard. The snag issue has already been addressed in the prior post and is just another "what if I do somthing wrong then this could happen".
  13. That is silly since all the different rigs have different tricks to packing them. How do you "omit" a closing loop and still close the container? And how often do you have to replace that loop? I replaced probably three in a year working at the factory. If the rigger follows the instructions and/or contacts the factory like any rigger would do with any rig this should not be an issue. Do you think that the closing loops are all of the same length and route the same for all of the other rigs? No, they are all different. And if putting a finger trap in both ends of cypres cord is too complicated for a rigger then they should not be rigging. And the same is true for the semi-pop tops like Javelin, Wings and also if the cover flap comes open on some of the internal pilot chute containers. This is true, Jump Shack gave factory rigging classes at every boogie that Jump Shack was at including Rantoul.
  14. Wow, I'm glad I got to see the rack in person for free! But the JFTC was well worth it.
  15. They have bands at strip clubs?I don't remember any music.
  16. Everyone always wants to see the babe. I just not feeling the love.
  17. Yes the blender will be there!Don't forget your secret decoder rings to find where it is at.
  18. I'm with you. Did my jump in the PAC 750 at Rantoul.....I'll take the Otter....see you there!
  19. I thought that is when they do the cross country jumps to Texas.
  20. That is not smart to go after Chuck, his wife Katie must be 6'4" and 280lbs and will kick you ass!
  21. This is a good way to deal with skyride. If everyone refused to do business with anyone supporting or doing business with skyride they would go away!
  22. My apologies, I did not notice it. Sure, I don’t even know what canopy the poster was talking about so in absence of or conflicting information I will always recommend that the factory specifications be followed. This is not true and since I was the factory rep. that contacted PD and resolved this issue, I probably have a little more insight about this issue. I’m sure that you are aware that if there is a conflict between the manufacture of the canopy and the container the container manufacture prevails.
  23. The issue is who should make recommendations to the end user. When a factory or master rigger accepts an alteration suggestion from anyone it is not usually blindly implemented. Do you think that just because someone who is not qualified comes up with an idea that is accepted by a factory that gives them some wisdom to make alteration recommendations all of the time? When I worked in the factory setting I received valuable information from master riggers to students all of the time including you. Why do you think that I asked you to jump the canopies at Rantoul, because I wanted your input. When the 2K3 became popular, Rduch stopped me at the DZ one day and since he is a packer he asked if we could label the flaps with the closing order. I went back to the office, we had a meeting and within 24 hours the production line was stamping the closing order on the containers. Now if someone asks a question on here about an alteration and you were to call the factory and discuss it with them and what you thought, you might be suppressed what you could learn and maybe you have a good idea that gets implemented and helps everyone.
