  1. my dropzone charges $16 for 5000 feet. its not cuase they want to but its cause they have to do so to just break even or make a little profit due to price of fuel at our airport. i would believe this is the case at most dropzones where the price is a little higher than normal. its not because they are tryin to rip people off as you say.
  2. what kind of camera are you using on that set-up. i see that it is a sony but what model.
  3. nothing special...just a couple pics i found from this summer.
  4. we got two good paintjobs on our cessna's, one we call sharky adn the other we call bubbles. http://www.skydivecoastalcarolinas.com/gallery/shark.jpg http://www.skydivecoastalcarolinas.com/gallery/plane.jpg
  5. my dad managed to get a thing of silibands back in january and has been jumping them since hten. he has put probably about 30-45 jumps on them and i put about 20 jumps on them and only one has broke so far. they work good but i dont really care for them. they are hard to put lines through when you first get them. they do last awhile though. i know that regular rubber bands done last over 50 jumps. that is just my opinion on them.
  6. if i change the length of a closing loop which i rarely do without asking the person first, then i make sure i do tell them when i give them their rig back.
  7. i would recommend to stay of the front risers period on a conquest. i had one for awhile adn they do not like any front riser input at all. i played around with teh front risers up really high (about 8000') and all i did was pull both front risers down and the nose rolled under on me. i sure wouldnt want that to happen on landing. the canopy doesnt do it everytime but it does it often.
  8. i believe the biggest reason so many people dont have an icon is that it is still a fairly new rig on the market. As far as the javelin odyssey goes it has been on the market for awhile and there are a whole lot more used ones out there for people to buy. that is just my opinion on it, take it for what you want.
  9. yea it sucked about the wind. that seminar was great, i learned quite a bit from it and some of the other locals were talking about it all night about how much they learned. it would definately be great to get something going again down there and i think it would be awesome to do it on the beach.
  10. the only prob wiht moving the 4-way comp to teh beach is not everyone will have a C license adn so then they wont be able to jump the beach. and also liek dagimp said, it would take alot longer for the video guys to dub adn all that great stuff. i think it would be kinda nice for me as the packer. it would give me a little longer to pack the rigs seeings as how i might be the only packer there.
  11. any wingload can be considered radical really. its just a matter of how you fly your canopy. i fly a canopy wiht a wingload of just over 1.3:1 and ive got over 500 jumps. i can swoop that thing just about as far as any one on my dropzone. we dont have that many big time swoopers though. but like i said its really jsut a matter of how you fly the canopy. but still beware cuase it can hurt you.
  12. i just put the jump number, date, aircraft, canopy, exit alt/pull alt., type of jump( FF, RW, CRW, adn so on), and my freefall time, and thats about it except if something happens like a cutaway or something
  13. had one at 75 jumps, then another at 374. so i guess i didnt do as good as heath.
  14. the meet for coastal is on the last weekend of april, which i believe to be the 23rd, 24th.

  16. you can jump a helicopter, ride a bicycle off a cliff and base. there are so many different things you can do with that parachute that its amazing. plus the graphics are awesome.
  17. a 24" zp custom made monkey fist. only one other monkey fist pilot chute out there like this one and my dad owns it. below is the link to a pic of the pilot chute. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/sk8inskydiver/pilotchute.jpg edited to add the pic.
  18. ive had the same thing happen on one occasion and even though it wasnt stuck long its enough to get you thinking.
  19. ive got one, never used it though. but someone at my dz used it this past summer. he had a spinning mal and when he cut away he said one riser didnt release(i think he jsut didnt pull the handle all the way) adn he deployed the reserve. so he had the main attached by one riser and the reserve out. it looked quite ugly from above. he used his hook knife to cut the riser on the main and landed sucessfully under his reserve. that is the only story i have for hook knives so i hope you guys enjoyed.
  20. ive got 500 jumps and ive jumped a canopy at a 1.42 wingload on about 20-30 jumps. i normally jump a 1.33 wingload and that is enough for me. ive been jumping at that wingload for aproximately 350-400 jumps now and i still dont think i have maxed out my canopy so i chose not to go smaller for a full time canopy yet.
  21. does anyone know if boneheads cutaway mod for a ftp will work for a hansen helmet. im lookign to put a cutaway system on my helmet adn if this will work that would be awesome.
