  1. I'd understand where he is coming from, but I don't think its limited to just skydivers. ALL groups typically do this... since you met by being part of the group, thats what binds you together as friends. When you no longer belong to the group, you lose your binding and they don't care about you. for example, how many friends did most people have in college... now how many of those friends still email/talk regularly after its over.... a few, but most quickly grow apart. I've heard this conversation many times at DZs, boogies, etc. "What happened to old XXXX? Doesn't he jump anymore?" "No, he said he didn't have the money/time/gear" "huh.... so hows the weather looking tomorrow?" MB 3528, RB 1182
  2. there is generally not one website where all of them are posted. I'm sure everyone would appreciate if any people who did take pictures and put them on the web, put a link to them on here though
  3. I've actually done something similiar... my college stadium didn't allow jumps into the stadium, as they already had other actractions during pregame... usually a boring award ceremony for donaters so we did a demo into a soccer field outside the stadium during a paintball tourniment they were holding there. Its obviously a lot more open, and didn't require a PRO rating. Looking down into the nice big empty stadium under canopy sure tempted me though I think though your idea of landing outside the stadium on a demo won't work. People inside the stadium won't be interested in a tiny speck in the sky that never gets closer than 2000 feet. I'd say keep training, get your PRO, and then do demos at the games. MB 3528, RB 1182
  4. Does this issue make you want to have rigs repacked more often than 120 days or longer than 120 days? Just think, a rigger is human and can make mistakes which you could be jumping. Of course you would rather not have to jump a riggers mistake, but if you were, would you rather jump it for 120 days or 180 days? the answer is: doesn't matter. More or less repacks does not affect error rate of riggers. if you got a bad reserve repacked, there is the same amount of chance that it would be repacked incorrectly the next time. MB 3528, RB 1182
  5. I wish i could wingsuit with them. I've only gotten to fly my canopy near birds. once I got lucky and deployed near a pair of bald eagles. I spiraled down behind them, and one turned his head over his shoulder and looked at me. They were about 20 feet away, and after giving me a look, they just sped up and left me in their dust. Its amazing how much better the birds are at flying then us, even with all our amazing gear. MB 3528, RB 1182
  6. im just posting this to remind myself to look at this later, when i'm not at work MB 3528, RB 1182
  7. at least did people see the weather report for this weekend? highs in the 80s, winds 5-10 mph, and no rain. seems about perfect! now just pray to the weather gods not to change it! MB 3528, RB 1182
  8. haha great story, keep em coming guys MB 3528, RB 1182
  9. for christs sakes, martin, it was sarcasm. it is taking them a long time to post the prices though maybe they are all still underwater MB 3528, RB 1182
  10. if they haven't told us by now, I'm kinda worried. We might show up and it will have turned out to be $35 per normal jump ticket! MB 3528, RB 1182
  11. when landing off, rather than looking for a safe spot to land, you look for the spot nearest a road. when you go to a boogie and jump from 14k, your internal clock starts screaming PULL at about 6k MB 3528, RB 1182
  12. i agree, its pretty bad to see these things going for that high. at my old DZ, if someone who got it didn't need it, they would give it to someone who did. I got a 50% off wings one that way from someone, and I've given away certificates before too. I think thats the way it SHOULD be done. MB 3528, RB 1182
  13. prices pulblished yet? also any word on the specialty aircraft, i.e. a jet? MB 3528, RB 1182
  14. pretty cool MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. IHOP, and lock your stuff in your car MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. wow thats pretty pricey. at least you would get video of the entire thing... is it outside video, or inside video? because I think that would make a huge difference in the value MB 3528, RB 1182
  17. they tack on an extra $30 for gear on the tandem jump???? sounds like the "big plane" fee at skyride DZs MB 3528, RB 1182
  18. yeah 125 jumps wouldn't improve your freefall skills at all. I'd honestly guess AFF and S/L skills are about equal at 50 jumps. MB 3528, RB 1182
  19. I am but I never use the thing. its great for getting party photos from friends though MB 3528, RB 1182
  20. +1 I've safely landed in high gusts, and I've also been pulled over backwards at 10 feet off the ground with a big gust MB 3528, RB 1182
  21. just wait until you can do night freefly... great stuff MB 3528, RB 1182
  22. Fournier must hope that he has better luck than the amateur skydiver who tried three times to break Kittinger’s record in the 1960s. On his third attempt, his visor opened at 57,000ft. He fell into a coma and died four months later What is this part about? Never heard of this MB 3528, RB 1182
  23. it doesn't matter what the repack cycle is... if your rigger made a mistake he made a mistake. lets pretend your scenerio... I get my rig repacked, with a packing error in the reserve. I get lucky and never have to use it... well guess what happends when I get it repacked... IT HAS THE SAME CHANCE A RIGGER WILL REPACK IT WRONGLY!!! in fact, repacking it more often would probably lead to more chances of error... because the rigger now has 3 times a year to mess it up, instead of 2 times a year under the 180 reserve cycle. MB 3528, RB 1182
  24. feel free to get yours repacked every 120 days, or even less if you want... but don't spoil our fun for the original poster, if you are seriously worried about it, get it repacked. The repack price is worth being scared of an unreliable reserve on every jump. MB 3528, RB 1182
