  1. The dams in the article are hells canyon, oxbow, and brownlee dams. Some environmentalists think fish runs will return with dam removal. Unfortunately once a run is gone it’s gone forever! It’s just another political ploy for power, so a small group of people can impose their will on the rest of us!

    As I said...

Yeah, I'm in favor of a lockdown. I've already moved my Cooper discussions over to the new forum anyway. Not many members, but we get a newbie once in a while. Better than wading through repetitive crap at Dropzone.

Look at the bright side Robert, you will be the last man standing on the internet when this tread goes down!

  3. I disagree with you Robert, deleting this thread would exclude others who wish to read it. That said a lock might be more appropriate. I B T L !

After much thought, I have some observations and have a made a couple of decisions regarding the Cooper thread at Dropzone.

Although I could continue to put Derek the Spammer on the ignore list so I don't have to read his posts, I don't think this thread serves any further purpose.

For one thing, it certainly consumes more bandwidth for Dropzone's owners than any other single thread. Now it is made worse by the forced hosting of thousands of pictures by Derek the Spammer, none of which serve a purpose. Due to things such as this, the thread was previously closed by DZ admins for five years. It was then reopened, but obviously its become a failed experiment. Few, if any people participate, and that includes most of the known people in Cooperland, who no longer use this spot for discussions on the Cooper case.

I have recommended to DZ admin that because of the ongoing problems with Derek, the lack of traffic, and other factors, that they PERMANENTLY delete this thread. By doing this, they will not only save themselves money paying for all that bandwidth, but rid themselves of Derek's ongoing spam attacks at the same time.

I am sure that many long-term skydivers who hang out at Dropzone will agree with me. The thread was given a second chance already, and it is a failed experiment. In fact, the situation is worse. If you are a skydiver, and an active member of Dropzone, I am sure you will agree with me. The thread should be deleted, once and for all. It really serves no useful purpose, and has become a target instead. Most of the people who still investigate the DB Cooper case no longer post here anyway, with a couple of exceptions. And those few exceptions, coupled with the persistent attacks by Derek, make it an easy decision for Dropzone admins, in my humble opinion. In fact, I have sent them a message giving them the reasons for my opinion. They are the same ones you are reading now.

Further, Dropzone is no longer the be-all and end-all for discussions in the Cooper case. Over at the Quora Space on Cooper, there are nearly 2,000 followers signed up for the feed, which means every article or post to the Space goes out by email to everyone on that list. When I add my personal followers at Quora, they go to more than 2,500 people. On a personal level, I reach many more people regarding the Cooper case via Quora and WordPress, than is possible through Dropzone. My content views at Quora now exceed THREE MILLION in a three-year period, approximately. Some of you won't believe this, so I have posted a picture of my profile at Quora below for you:

And to be frank about it, for me to post anything further here Cooper-related is pointless. WordPress Cooper views are way up. My Quora content is over a million views a year. And after all of that, there isn't much participation by anyone at this Dropzone thread anymore, including the most well-known names investigating the case. (Can't say I blame them, especially lately.)

The bottom line is that this thread, and its more than 60,000 posts has reached the end of its useful life. But someone has to pay the bill for all that bandwidth to keep it going. It makes no sense for Dropzone to keep paying for all that bandwidth on a thread that is not used, that is under a persistent spam attack, and was already given a second chance. It has become both a waste of money and a waste of bandwidth. It should be deleted.

I'm pretty sure most Dropzone users will agree with my opinion on this. Many have already called for the thread to be deleted permanently. It was given two chances. To pay for it further is senseless. I have already linked DZ admins to this post.

Be assured that to make my point more valid...Derek Godsey the spammer will now post up more spams and unwanted content in an effort to 'bury' this post. That should be the thing that finally puts my suggestion over the top with the Admin.

On a personal note, I do appreciate the chance I had to make over 8,000 posts to the Cooper thread, but I'm okay with all of them disappearing from Dropzone. The discussions on the Cooper case long ago moved elsewhere anyway. They've showed much patience over many years even hosting this thread, and I appreciate it...but it's time to move on.

If anyone reading this has comments or questions, don't post them publicly here. I won't answer you. PM or email me with anything like that you may have. This weekend I am creating a new page at the main AB of Seattle website showing all the available options to discuss or post on the Cooper case if you wish. There is also Shutter's site, aka The DB Cooper Forum, and Derek the Spammer is not...and will never be...a part of that. Neither will he be showing up at any of AB's public outlets on the case.

I have also gone public on Speakers Corner about this issue. You can see my thread about that HERE.

(A link to this post has been sent to the Administrator at Dropzone)

  5. Looks like we’re headed for a lock, my two cents. In 1993 I was 4 wheeling on sauvies island, I hopped out of the truck to take a piss. Looking at a pile of sand I saw a thin cable sticking out. I pulled on it and out came a rectangle made out of round stock with the cable attached to the middle of one side. I thought what the hell is this?and tossed it. Ten years later I became a sky diver, what I found that day was a handle! From where when or how I have no idea, food for thought.  Blues. Jerry

  6. I'm in Baker City now, the smoke from all the fires in the region is thick.
Hopefully it will clear up in the coming week. The forests are shut down, so no camping in the sticks. We are all ready seeing people show up here. It's going to be epic!

  7. Jo, I hope if they ever make a movie of your story, and I have only seen one picture of you, they get Linsey Lohand to play your part. Because LILO has the look of a woman that just screams trashy sex!

  8. Granted, I am a new jumper and have no experience on round parachutes, if he pulled off the step, and I would in this situation because 10,000 feet means agl , over terrain how high? He could land anywhere . I don't think this has been really been looked at.
