  4. .... after all my years of jumping I have finally found something that I can say is really challenging being a smaller female tandem master, and that is the length of my arms and shooting handycam. I am using a Chutingstar GoPro glove. I wish there was a go go gadget extension. Someone please invent one... lol

    So, have any others of you found this harder and what did you do..?

    Really??? She registered 130db on her meter for the full minute of belly-flying free fall? Please verify that. If true, that suqs. Sometimes I wear 'em. Sometimes I don't. If it's really 130db. I'll have to wear 'em all the time. Bummer...



    Unbelievable huh??? Now that was on someone without a helmet on... I'm telling ya... you don't relize how bad it is.. Thats why I want to inform everyone.. because Tinnintus really really sucks!!!

I'll pacify them for seven jumps, but after that, I'm wearing hearing protection. I have terrible tinnitus in my left ear from being young and stupid and that same ear has significant hearing loss at certain frequencies. You only get one set of eyes and ears. Better to take care of them.



    Yes for sure you can not wear them during training because of the radio, so after you graduate.... ;)

  9. An ENT has actually been doing some testing at a local dropzone and its proven that freefall noise is more damaging than airplane noise. She hopes to be sharing her research in parachutist when she finishes it. Im not saying airplanes are not bad... also depends on airplane type I spent several years jumping from a 1952 Beaver... very loud, long ride.

  10. It is caused by the extreamly high decibels in the airplane and freefall. Once a soccer coach blew a whistle and then blew it louder.. he also described the pop followed by the horrible ringing. So im positive and also my ENT is positive its the noise.

  11. No.. the ringing does not come and go.. it is always always there and I would rather not be able to hear and be completely deaf on that ear..

  12. I would just like to remind everyone of the importance of wearing earplugs. I have been in the sport for 17 years and it was my full time job for 14 years. One day my ears popped and I had this horrible ring in my ears and now have severe hearing loss in my left ear and it's caused by Tinnitus. I have tried all kinds of medications and there is no cure for it. I have seen the ENT doctors several times and am currently on a sound therapy. The ATA ( American Tinnitus Association ) is trying to find a cure and until then I will never be able to sit in the forrest and listen to the wind blow through the trees, or the river flow peacefully or just sit in absolute silence. It is an undecribable nuisance that I will have forever.. Just a note to students that you may not be able to wear them during training due to the need to hear the radio, but as soon as you can.. wear them faithfully... and even in freefall..!! those decibels are worse than the airplane.. I went and had a custom pair made at the local ENT doctor and they only cost $75.00 , well worth the price for protecting you ears.. I wish someone would of told me..

  13. It is so hard growing up and continuing to live with an alcoholic parent.. I pray for him everyday in hopes one day we can enjoy life together.. he is so mean to my mom and I and says such hurtful things... I know he doesn't mean them.. he's drunk. I love my dad! But am so fustetated with the hurtful drunk words he's says.. is it time for tough love? I want my dad back.. its been this way my whole life. He has had a brain injury from a fall from falling drunk..
    it sad.. I hate to see him like this ...

  15. On May 25th I got to experience one of the coolest things a mother could.... after 14 long years of waiting, I finally got to take my son Geoff on his first tandem skydive!!!!.. Was I nervous.. yeah, probably more than him, but he had a fantastic time and is now can't wait to keep on skydiving..

  18. I know these are probably gonna be hard to find but I got to give it a shot.

    Was wondering if someone maybe picked up my prescription sunglasses by accident off one of the tables at Skydive Spaceland during the 100 way diamond event ... I've been looking everywhere for them and that is the only thing I think maybe could of happened..
    They were girly black ones and well, if you can't see out of them, then I bet I could..;)

I only knew Scott for a short time because I just arrived at Spaceland a few weeks ago but I am so very happy I got the chance to meet him and receive some of his great hugs that I will forever and ever cherish deep in my heart! He was always smiling and happy, a hard worker that never complained. He was very outgoing and always there to high five us as we got on the plane.
    It just hasn't been the same around here without his smiley face. we will never forget you brother

  22. Yeah, not a good night to go out and get wasted.... lol... but you should bring a tent out to the dropzone because we have camping and bon fires on Friday and Saturday night, we usally know how to have fun...

    Wow, first jump course tomorrow? Where are you jumping? I see you are from Woodbury so I can only guess your jumping at Skydive Twin Cities and it just so happens I'm gonna be your instructor tomorrow :)Its understandable to be nervous but you'll see that after class you'll be more confident because of all the stuff your gonna learn...

  25. Well, lets see here...First off I am just a manequin head... I came to Skydive Twin Cities last summer, Karl and Meriah brought me there for my first time and all I got to do is sit in the car staring at people as they walked by. finally out of the car. I got to sit in the otter for many loads, back in the cubby hole until someone took me and put me on top of the hanger. the next morning people noticed me there and it was quiet funny.. I sat for a couple days up there even during rain and sun and finally someone got me down and placed me somewhere else and thats where the game started...... WHERES BETTY?...... After surviving a summer being moved from place to place to place all season long always being found and then people hiding me, being found and and then hiding me, the season ended.... now what... Well, It was time for nationals to take place and someone thought I might like to go somewhere warm for the winter and so I traveled to Arizona, hoping to be re-united with my orginal owners and wish them luck at nationals and the game went on there.... I scared the be-jesus out of meriah when she opened her gear bag and found me, it was nice to be with my original family for a while they even gave me a tour around the dz so I could check it out... after nationals was over I got lost, someone said I went back home with Karl and Meriah but they say they didn't have room for me so they left me there ..... I know the summer is approching and I would really love to be at Skydive Twin Cities when they open... I Miss You Guys:(
