  1. Howdy all. We're back!!! With the overwhelming success of Head for the Hills 2009, I've been asked to do round 2. So here it is - Return to the Hills 2009!!!! The PAC is back from CSC and should be running all weekend long September 18-20 at Seven Hills Skydivers in Madison WI. We'll have RW, VRW, and CRW. Organizers for all. A/C packing area + tent outside that doubles our packing area. We will have packers. Of course we'll have the famous Seven Hills menu of food all weekend. Camping is free. We even have a quiet zone down by the hanger for a good night sleep. I think I heard that Sherri and Firefly suits will be back. Lots of other stuff that I'm forgetting about and will update later. Come be part of the family and lets skydive!!! Blue Skies, Greg
  2. WOW!!!! I'm exhausted. What a weekend! I just wanted to thank everyone that came out to Seven Hills and helped us make one of the best and busiest boogies we've ever had. For a little Cessna drop zone we really pulled one off. Only to get better next year. We did our rain dances all weekend. Surprisingly it didn't effect us as much as I thought it would. 43 loads in the PAC for the weekend and Saturday was beautiful. 9-way CRW diamond on Friday, 10-way on Saturday. We saw a cool drag-plane and some down-planes. Lots of RW, some freeflying and of course the Tandems. 18000' was nice as well from time to time. Did I mention the food? I'm stuffed. I think everyone that came made some new friends, got to see some old ones and everyone got to see how we do things at Seven Hills. Lots of love for all because that's how we roll!!! Hope to see you all next year, and to those that missed out, better get out here for 2010. Blue Skies Porter
  3. Hey all, Just letting everyone know that we are really getting a response for attendance. Still looking for more jumpers though. Get your asses here for this kick ass 2-way CRW competition. Lots of bigger way and RW, plenty of hybrids. Jump, Jump, Jump!!!!!! Plane will be flying hard!!!!
  4. New update everyone. We will be having food available from "Blowin' Smoke" southern style BBQ restaurant and their crazy "Competition" smoker during the day. It even has a Bose sound system. Plus we will be having our infamous Pot Luck Dinner Friday and Saturday nights. I'm willing to bet they are going to be bigger than in '07. Also, we'll have Jerry's Kids again. Bigway organization by Jerry "Cheese" Lehnherr. Still more to come.
  5. Hey guys, Just confirmed DJs for Friday and Saturday Night. Should be cool. They have lights, great systems and Friday may wind up having Karaoke. I'm scared!! More to come as it comes in.
  6. This just in, Wisconsin CRW record attempt at Seven Hills Skydivers, Madison, WI. June 18-21. Fly your asses off and you can be a part of the 15 or more to make history. We'll have some in-house canopy pilots, but we can use some more. Come have fun with us and join the family!
  7. Sorry, Just northeast of Madison, WI. About 10-15min from the east side of Madison. Check out our website for exact directions: www.sevenhillsskydivers.org
  8. Howdy all! Just wanted to let you all know about the Boogie at Seven Hills Skydivers on June 18-21. We will be having a PAC750XL to use for the weekend. PAC is showing around 3pm on Thursday and we'll be jumping until Sunday evening. $23 to 13500'. There will be formations of all kinds, an informal 2way CRW competition, Food, Fun and only a $25 registration for the weekend. Come join us for the festivities and debauchery. More to come soon as things fall into place.
  9. I'm not from the NW, but I did get a couple of jumps in at Skydive Oregon. Mts were beautiful. Put myself into a 360 and just watched the Mts all around me. And Yes I got to see Rainier. People at the Drop Zone were very cool and I had a lot of fun. Talk to some of the local jumpers when you get there and you should have no problem getting on some sort of load. Have fun!
  10. I can't speak for the Tandem aspect of the Chilean drop zone. But I can tell you that Oxcar from the freefly team Orbital Flyers is a great individual. If only 2-3 other members of the Drop Zone are as good a soul, then your friend will have a great time. As for the view, I can only just imagine how beautiful it is down there. Jumping amongst the mountains is so incredible wherever you are.
  11. Hey Beth and All, I know it's late in the game, but I can't help but feel that we could still put something together that won't be the last nail in the coffin. That kind of talk is just stupid. Who would want the end of the WFFC? Seriously! Even if it's smaller this year, and it's a rebuilding year, I'm OK w/ that. Bring it on. We need to make this happen and show all that the WFFC is not dead and is not going to die. Even if it takes on another form then so be it! Our extended family needs this and will make something happen. Beth, please get hold of me if there isn't anything from Don. I will be happy to help put together a convention for this year. What ever it takes, I'm there!! Lots of love, Greg
  12. Either way, don't you think that both have their place? Regardless of preference, each has it's own draw, and I'm of the opinion that people will find their own way to what suits them best. Each event has it's own vibe. Even if one or both are reinventing themselves don't you think each one deserves a chance to make it's own way. There are those that are loyal to each individual event and to both, for various reasons. There has always been rivalry but both have always survived for many reasons. It's not about one or the other, we need both events and many more. New events will come and go, but these are some mainstays in our community. Both should coexist and feed off each other to draw jumpers from all walks of life and around the world to further the sport. Newer events such as Skyfest are showing us that and promoting what we should all be looking at. That is the perpetuation of the sport and furthering skydiving. I for one am for WffC, but I think Summerfest has it's place. Yes both offer similar things, but each has it's own vibe and take from that what you will. It doesn't mean either is better or worse. They are 2 different events that will make their mark on each individual differently. With all the turbines popping up it's tough to have a reunion of the magnitude that both events provide. Why would we be looking to lose one when our sport needs more of what both have to offer? In the long run, registration is minor compared to the amount of jumps one would make at either event, and the experiences one can have that only come from such events. I think both need to look at how that money is spent to benefit their jumpers. Regardless, each event can occur and survive just as they have for many years. Besides, what is $20 or $40 in the grand scheme of things. I have no problem paying for what either has to offer. What is that? Well, Skydivers paradise. Jumpships a plenty and many friends to jump with. That is what both events are about. I for one want the WFFC back and will do my best to make that occur. I have many friends that I would like to see and jump with and I'm sure that Summerfest has the same. Just because I prefer one over the other doesn't mean that both can't bring the same feeling for different people. We need to further our sport and more big events like these only help that happen. I know I'm on a diatribe, but I think my point is valid. Maybe I'm crazy?! Besides, why wouldn't you want many opportunities to jump with friends from both far and wide?
  13. I'm there!!! And I think I can speak for all of Seven Hills skydivers when I say "We're all in!!!!!!" We've got newbies that need to experience the convention.
  14. I think that I can speak for all of Seven Hills Skydivers when I say that "WE"RE IN!!!!!". We'll be 1st on Drop Zone Row. Blue Skies all, And WFFC in 2008!
  15. Hey J, Good to hear you might be on board for WFFC if it happens. It's devotion and innovation like this that make events like Skyfest and WFFC possible. I agree that WFFC needs to be reborn and carried on. I think many people were heart broken to not have the convention last year. I also think that there are many people that would support WFFC this year even this late in the game. Thanks for your support and Rock on Skyfest and WFFC 2008 (Please Don!).
