  1. Did find a couple of visiting jumpers to hang out with for the short time I was there. For the most part, these seem to be the only people I could find with any decent social skills. Staff are very rude and abrupt. "Big fish in a small pond" attitude. The jump tickets are dirt cheap and if you can ignore the rude staff the loads turn quickly. I guess you get what you pay for.
  2. If your from Kapow. Dave Keiser is flying the Otter up from your dropzone for the Westcoast Skyflyerzs boogie. (End of August Beginning of Sept.) At Pacific Skydivers.
  3. Here is a nice shot of Jason from last year. What concentration in those eyes.
  4. The flat plate is mounted to the box with four lock nuts and bolts. The "fifth bolt" goes through the plate and box and attaches to the camera.
  5. Always had a great time at this boogie and the people and vibe at this DZ is awesome. Count me in.
  6. This is one of the best dropzones I've jumped at. The locals take you in like you are one of there family. No sky Gods. The Otter is the cleanest one I've seen to date that hauls jumpers. Had no problems getting on a load. The landing area is the largest and flattest grass landing area I've ever seen. The surrounding area has plenty of outs. The facilities are top notch and kept very clean. World class coaching available. I can go on and on, but if you are in the area I would highly recommend you drop by.
  7. I'm forever grateful to Matt for being headsup enough to chase me down and stay with me until I regained consciousness at 6,000. I talked to him the next day and he down played the whole incident. I know Matt was ready to pull for me if I had not come to. This beat the hell out of taking a cypress fire spinning on your back unconscious. Trunk, if you run into him, please let him know I will never forget him.
  8. DSE What is your arrival time on the 22nd and departure time on the 2nd?
  9. I've stayed at the bunkhouse a few times and the experience vary depending on the number of people and how they acted. Over all I'd suggest bringing some ear plugs. Each bunk has a privacy curtain that shuts out the light. There are space heater in there as well if the temp drops. Pillows, and blankets are provided if need be. For the price, it is a decent place to stay if you don't need a lot of personal space.
  10. Was this dog in some sort of harness or just placed in this guys jump suit?
  11. Here is a few more pics from the boogie. JJ thanks for the jumps. You folks had one great boogie. Hope to see you again next year.

  13. Amazing cloud shots for backdrop. Nice work.
  14. Lighting/shadows a bit off being near the end of the day.
  15. Hi karen The softest opening canopy I've used for camera work has been the crossfire-2 approx 800-1000ft openings. Good glide ratio if you need to get back from a long spot. Excellent flair right to shut down on landings. Canopy has very good performance range and is a good swooping canopy. If your still in Snohomish, talk to Brad.H as I sold him my X-fire-2 and he put a few jumps on it.
  16. I have a Matter Proconcept. Not a bad suit for the price. They tend to make there suits on the tight side so if you wear multiple layers be careful with the measurements. Turn around time was 18 weeks. Never again. I had a chance to look at a new freefly suit from Vertical Suits and was quite impressed. A very light weight and well fitted suit. Very well constructed. Turn around time right now at 4 weeks.
  17. Just trying to put together a list of DZ's that have recently either have a restriction on the degrees of your turn or have all together band swooping. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Yesterday I to aborted a swoop. I was setting up 270 and saw another pilot coming from my right and below me setting up for a 180. I had plenty of time to make a decision to abort. After landing I thought that if I was setting up 180 as well he would have been in my blind spot at that time and I would have not had a visual on him, my time to make a decision to abort would have been significantly reduced and may have ended in a close call or worse.
  19. Everybody flies a little different, but to get a general idea for the correct body position, lie on your back on the floor. You will notice that you can put your hand in the space between the small of your back and the floor and the back of your neck and the floor. Now if you bend your knees a bit, the space between the the small of your back will decrease. If you lower your chin to your chest the space behind your neck will decrease. Adjust your body accordingly till your spine is straight. Spread legs apart and put your arms a little bit in front of you so they are in your view. Now standing in this body position, close your eyes and find your balance point over your hips. This is your neutral body position. If you move your chin forward you will feel your balance shift forward. If you move your chin back your balance point will shift and put you into reserve. Practice this feeling of subtle shifts of your balance point over your hips. A little movement goes a long way. Relaxing and breathing goes a long ways as well. I'm just barely scratching the surface of this topic. A good coach with video will definitely speed up your learning curve.
  20. Damage plastic on cutter cause the closing loop to be cut on Mirage G4 MZ with a PD113 in it. During the repack, rigger got a pilot chute in the face. Vigil sent out a new style cutter and had it in my hand in less than a week.
  21. Was leading a tracking dive on my back when I notice something briefly passing my right shoulder and just missing someone chasing on their belly. I figured something came off my gear or someone's gear. Once on the ground no body was missing any items. Frame by frame video showed a blurred image of a small bird I had stuck at approximately 5000ft. No blood or feather to be found on my rig though.
  22. Accidently stowed the extra brake line between the steering line and the riser. Normally would not have been a problem, but my other toggle was released by my slider. Canopy started to spin up and loaded the steering line to the point that it locked the toggle in place. Time I realized the problem I had run out of altitude and had to chop it.
  23. I usually buy what I need or want during the year, so a lot of gifts are items I do not need. So this year I tried something different. I told family and friends to either give me non perishable food items, unwanted clothing or sleeping bags or just cash. I took a drive to a downtown shelter on Christmas Eve to deliver these items. Along the way I saw a family with their young children in the worst part of town giving out food. I thought to myself, those kids are going to be pretty grounded individuals when they grow up. This Christmas meant more to me than any other I can think of.
