i have 6 not-so-typical piercings & i feel naked (metaphorically) without them...... did you not feel the same? you get to used to always seeing your body with the metal, and sub/consciously adjust to them (like i sleep on my right side to avoid the left ear piercings). I THINK if you get piercings for the right reasons, then you'd miss them a lot what do you think? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

PHEW! i can't believe i couldn't make that last step! i kept thinking it had to do with their "tails cut off" or something. honestly, i was about to pull my hair out so THANKS!

THANKS! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

i know a skydiver who named their dog: CORK; also CHAOS is cute

hey sky ~ i know how much it SUCKS to have no money! i refused to put my rig on credit card; i had 200+ jumps before i had my OWN complete gear i gradually would save $ and buy 1) an offer that was too good to pass on or 2) the most necessary items first (ex: bought a reserve/container first 'cause you can always demo main canopies or bum one :) honestly, it helps to network & have friends who are skydivers. being on good terms/friendly with others @ the dropzone, sometimes they'll know of an unused canopy you can borrow or where you could get a cheap, used rig, etc. P.S. you say you may only have $1,500?! i put my rig together for about $1,100..... so it's possible!!! GOOD LUCK!

Recommend a DZ in Indianapolis?
rocketdog replied to Punky_Monkey's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I know there is a dropzone up by Purdue area (not sure how far from Indy that is).... also, Skydive Wayne County is in Richmond, IN. which is a little over an hour from Indy www.skydiverichmond.com Like others have said, I think most instructors have had a first time/returning student who has been freaked out :) GOOD LUCK! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com -
why did you go to 2 different DZs (just out of curiosity)? very cool though! glad you're not throwing any more $ to Tandems when you could be on your way to getting licensed

NELKEL~ as you'll read in MY post, the driving-to-skydiving comparison was made because i was trying to parallel insurance needs for both. i used driving-to-skydiving to illustrate my point & question THUS making it relevant to Shayna's thread..... i don't believe anyone on here is trying to "hijack" her thread..... just weighing the options since Shayna clearly isn't going to post again & clarify. why is it of particular concern to you? i suspect that's why this thread hasn't been locked as you've been pushing for -- because it's not off-topic. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
-
Actually, if you are under 18 it is more likely that you will be able to jump through Accelerated Freefall or Static Line method since the Tandem manufacturers have a minimum requirement of 18 years of age. Just wanted to clarify. GoOd LuCk!

Do you pay taxes on your goods? I pay taxes and part of those taxes go to people who are not responsible and make the Government pay their bills. HOLY TOLEDO BATMAN! did you really just stoop that low & blame everyone who uses federal assistance? did you really just generalize everyone by saying people who have federal assistance are "irresponsible" & "don't bother to pay"? your ignorance must be blissful! although this is a tangent, TRUE many people work the system.... but many use it to get back on their feet/remain there. i don't think Shayna is "trying not to pay". clearly she is asking for help, but you seem to have it beaten in your head that she has an ulterior motive..... see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

so prior to the first stagecoach carriage & Ford Model-T humans simply did not work or earn money?! give me a break. driving is a luxury, convenience, how else shall i word it? that goes for you & any other human on this planet... that aside...... so you don't drive anywhere UNLESS it is to/from work? "produces a benefit of employment" -- you'd be fired if you didn't have a car? i understand you think skydiving is not a need, so it was reckless/silly/etc. for Shayna to jump. however, one might say the same about you for if you were in a driving accident..... yes, in this case Shayna went skydiving for recreational purposes..... likewise, many people drive for recreational purposes. so please answer the Q & stop digressing: would you have the same beef w/her if she made the jump w/o insurance BUT landed unharmed? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
-
creditably? .....ANYWAY, is it not fact that although it is against the law & people SHOULD NOT drive w/o auto insurance, many people do? yes, because (in most situations) no one discovers/worries that the driver is uninsured until an incident happens..... in relation to skydiving, (as many others have stated) YES death/injury was always an option, but *i belive* Shayna wasn't focusing on all the MIGHT HAPPENs. that's why i'm trying to understand posters' rage -- how many of us actually live our life like that? furthermore, i don't understand how i'm fraudulent because i was simply playing devil's advocate..... but i loved how you tried to judge me based on 1 post..... gee, i don't have health insurance so i must not be "responsible". RON~ i really have to disagree w/you. Driving is NOT a need..... it is a convenience. Skydiving is NOT a need...... it is a hobby/convenience. same principle, which is why i asked my Q. what i was trying to get at is: IF nothing had happened to her & she passed jump #X would this be such a big deal? are you appalled by her ACTION or her REACTION or both? (which you answered, so thanks for sharing your opinion) ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
-
just playing Devil's Advocate so please don't lynch me here ...... back on page 8 or 9 someone posted: "You don't have insurance due to your job and hobby. OK, but you *need* a job and *want* a hobby. Skydiving is not a need. To do a high risk sport, just cause you want to, when you could lose everything is bad judgment. " ....so i ask: Driving is NOT a *need* either. Would you (the poster OR anyone else) consider getting up earlier & taking the bus? Very doubtful. i have no health insurance. does that mean i should lock myself in my house because if i get sick i cannot afford the bills? Extremely doubtful. my point is, driving or skydiving -- neither is a need nor is insurance required (well auto insurance, but no one knows til you get pulled over). but many people assume that risk because we cannot live our life in fear or based on the "what if"s. do you still think she was wrong for jumping? or are you pissed that now she has jumped, she cannot face the music? OR BOTH? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
