  1. my DZ had a Porter this past season full-time. let me tell you 8 was AWFUL -- 7 jumpers would be ideal i'd say. i liked the wide door, OR you could use BOTH doors. i think the lift-to-fuel cost wasn't too shabby either. that is a guess though.... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  2. having read all the posts, it seems to me like this may be just ANOTHER business ploy to scam more $ out of the customers. is this $5 for 2-3 weeks/$20 for 1 week rate new? if it is a rather new policy, i'd say it's crappy. it seems like USPA may have realized, instead of doing what we've always done for a slight fee (which in this case is 'processing' immediately) let's ease up/drop that price, & charge more $ for the same service we WERE doing. or it could be a greater demand with less staff, but it seems money drives every business these days.... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  3. LOVE Sesame Street! think of all the cool things the kids on that show do, the silly skits, the funky animation & the unpredictable puppets....er....characters i think it's better than watching soaps or Judge Joe Brown in the morning!
  4. my vote: get a legit job to support your skydiving habit & then balance your weekends/time off with starting a career (typically through the week). worked out pretty well for me.... GOOD LUCK! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  5. my opinion is to just jump your ass off (can you jump year-round wherever you live?). you gain A LOT of experience going on group skydives.... sometimes you have to chase someone, sometimes you have to set a solid base, constantly adjusting/matching fall rates, etc. as someone relayed to me, it's some of those crazy, chase-the-base-all-over-the-sky jumps that make you better GOOD LUCK! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  6. man that's 2 replies with something about "quail egg" already is it the whole egg or the insides?!?!?!? bagel rolls (salmon + heavenly good cream cheese) TEMPURA is the only way to go. i like eel sashimi too, just not in a roll. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  7. thanks for all the help so far..... i will try to check out the various websites for those named! no luck with the Mediterranean places though?! anyway, keep the names coming & thanks again for all the help!
  8. anyone know the names/links of an excellent restaurant around Atlanta area (see options below) my best friend moved to Atlanta & i wanted to get her a nice restaurant (no bistros) gift cert. for her b-day..... except i've never been! i was thinking along the lines of either 1) a chic, modern sushi bar 2) Mediterranean food (dunno this kinda food but she LOVES hummus) something with a cool or funky atmosphere! i'm assuming they're obviously going to be higher priced. THANKS!!! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  9. good Q ~ hey kinda along those lines, do you know if Cloud's Edge is available on DVD & where i might be able to buy it?!?!?! thanks!
  10. more related to the original thread...... .....i think even a student with 3 jumps at ONE dz can make a very valid & competent review. especially when he/she supports the review with details. as a student -- still a customer -- they have expectations too, just as experienced jumpers. alluding to the restaurant comparison, customers STILL have expectations whether or not they have been to any other restaurants. in fact, students posting reviews could definitely be helpful (i.e. comparing teaching methods; maybe 1 method is better suited for you). ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  11. i think it's cool if the pin was PERSONALLY yours & then it became more decorated as a necklace. BUT people who buy them & wear them are a little too trendy for me. but to each their own. although i bet it'd be a great conversation starter with whuffos..... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  12. good way of summing it all up! why did George Clooney want to return to Beirut (sp?). was it because he wanted to "warn" the older brother.... was it to retaliate against the department that just terminated him..... was it for sheer pleasure? i'm wondering if this is something implied that i SHOULD HAVE picked up on, or if it's one of those interpretative skits. what do you think?! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  13. REALLY? but how do they track them down? in the boy's situation in the movie it seems highly unlikely that his family will be rewarded (monetarily) for his sacrifice. also, -- i can't remember but -- what was the older brother (NOT the Emir) en route to when he died?..... i feel like this held some significance but i could be absolutely wrong ~hollywood P.S. so Crotalus, since it seems you understood the movie, did you think it was a GOOD movie? well done? see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  14. i didn't think so...... remember how spiritually lost the main Muslim boy was? i think the leaders looked for kids who were unsure & malleable. BUT geez, i can't believe i couldn't figure out he was electrocuted ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  15. SUNSET freefly with my friends (that would actually build) ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  16. hilarious avatar... ANYWAY.... thanks for the help! next Q: did Matt Damon's son really die from drowning?! i feel like it was homicide connected to the Emirs, but only because that 1 surveilance screen wasn't working....... ? am i completely wrong ? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  17. i THOUGHT that the FICTIONAL Dan Brown book Angels & Demons focused solely on the Illuminati...... but i could be wrong & i don't know just how much of the book is truth/fiction. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  18. ok HOLD ON! are you talking about the man in the very beginning who was trimming the rosebush?! how did he orchestrate the ending? i'm sorry to be so clueless but i understand how he was a key player though rarely seen. oh it's been bugging me ~ where did the movie get this title? THANKS EVERYONE

    Piercing?

BZ~ so you took the more "personal" piercings out for your girlfriend ~ that's very nice! a friend of mine has a couple manly piercings & his girlfriend says it hurts her too. i have a hard time taking out piercings (especially ones that were painful & a bitch to heal) because then i feel like i've gone through all that crap with no end result did you feel that too? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

    Piercing?

girls don't have to worry because of bras -- woo hoo! but i know a guy who puts tape over both nipples to prevent anything catching..... good idea too! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  21. THANK YOU SKYMAMA! jimmy~ ok so am i right that the US & US oil powers were directly & indirectly responsible for the bombing @ the end of the movie?! because obviously they supported the NEW Emir (the younger bro) and his policies, not the older bro who was pushing for reform & equality. can you explain to me WHY George Clooney was finding the older bro's brigade at the end of the movie? THAT WOULD BE A START TO ME UNDERSTANDING IT!
  22. a rigger could make modifications to your gear to help you! i would definitely make the trip to the DZ to become current mentally as well. no one will write you off because you took time off -- that's what's so great!
  23. ooooohhhhhhhhh good call ~ had you ever heard of them before they blew up though? just curious.... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  24. i think when we start sacrificing innocent, civilians' lives in order to capture a single war-lord (or any other title), war loses its efficacy. true, sending Allied troops in may mean more soldiers killed (compared to just dropping a bomb) but it may ALSO mean more civilian lives saved. for the people leading the attack (in this case, the Allies) it almost seems subjectivist to value an AMERICAN/EUROPEAN troop's life over a MIDDLE EASTERNER'S. an innocent life spared is an innocent life spared, no matter race/religion etc. was that even what you were asking?!?!?! i don't think it matters whether the Allies get SPECIFICALLY this 1 war-lord because his/her influence may still exist. true, you'd be eliminating the original source, but then you still have to go round up all the followers. P.S. i too voted on a general idea (although i named specific countries). honestly, i don't understand the current US-Middle East-Europe situation, otherwise my vote might have changed. i was voting idealistically
  25. ay yi yi! i just saw Syriana & i don't even understand where the movie gets its title from?!?!?!?! could someone who has seen the movie PLEASE water down the plot/characters into a basic "Matt Damon's character supported Older Brother because [he liked him OR he agreed with his political goals ETC.]" here's what i got from the movie: weapons of mass destruction are baaaaaaaaad. (**keep this mind -- i am somewhat aware of Muslim beliefs but VERY confused when it comes to global trade/economics/politics**) THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! although i have a feelings it's a very complex storyline..... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
