Melissa: may i be so bold as to inquire why you would want to be a rigger, but not a skydiver? i admire your personal ethics as far as paying attention to detail, etc...but there's nothing like "hands on" experience to help visualize the importance of rigging, packing reserves and the like. i know that your aware that if a sky diver is presented with a serious mal at deployment time, that reserve is all we have, there is no "plan c" i had visualized in my mind for years what a reserve loked like deploying after a cut-away, i finally found out, until that time i didn't have a real "experience" per se that i could base my visulations on. your enthuziasm is admired and respected, but experience this exillarating sport for yourself!

in addition to FJC and graduating to Self Jump Master, then the "A" license and purchasing your own gear, we ought to have a "common sense seminar" that's all this comes back to is common sense. it's sounds simple, but it obviously isn't. when i saw my first swoop it was at SDSL in Rosharon, the guy flying the canopy was one of my AFP jumpmasters, i questioned him about the physics involved in this "high performance landing teqnique" his reply was "Richard, when you can explain in detail every thing i just did, and when, and why i did it, i tell you what i know" the matter never came up again. i still admire this particular indivudual even though i haven't seen him since 2001. words of wisdom, listen, learn or die by rebellion. sad, harsh, but true. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i wonder if the deceased signed any waiver forms, since he was a photographer instead of a sky diver. if he didn't, that opens a huge portal for his family in this ever litigeous society. i'm not sure what the rules are on a dropzone for choppers take-off and landing perimeters, but where i work, there is a yellow circle painted around the propellers blades and a painted yellow walkway to the storage area and door to get in and be seated. (on Offshore Drilling Rigs, And Storage Areas For The Sikorskis) everyone knows Rod did not do anything out of the ordinary, that said, whether the photographer had permission or not, he should have had enough common sense to stay clear of the rotor, and motor blades. it's a rather simple observation that if you are struck by the blades, that's all she wrote. while my heart goes out to the individuals family and friends i would hate to see someone/anyone profiting off of anothers death, regardless of how it happened, unless it was an impaired operator of any type of machinery UTI of any illegal substances, then i'd go for the juglar. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

if my canopy isn't S.S.S. i'm not sure which Dr. Stewart you're referring to, but it's ironic at least that the name of the chiropractor i use is last name is Stewart, Jimmy, has a brother named Vince, they're both pretty good. Jimmy worked on me 3-4 times a week (over the course of 2 years) just to keep me pain free long enough to stay in the gym, but finally he couldn't help me any longer. we did some new x-rays after it wasn't getting better, and he advised that i visit an accupuncturists, i did. he said it would take at least 7 visits for him to fix it, it took 2. i can count at least one you've had returned for constant missbehaviour on deployment. everything from line twists to end cell closure. i did my research on this canopy before i bought it, all i ever got from you guys was "body position" at deployment time. c'mon now, that's getting old. when this canopy flew well it flew well, but when it didn't it made my life hell. i was half scared to pull, not knowing which malfunction i'd be dealing with next. and Dan, it does make a difference how you pack the thing. i'll agree the best opening i got was in a track at 172 mph (pro-trac) but when i would deploy in belly to earth, it was totally unpredictable. the reason i'm addressing this now is to bring to your attention to stop making excuses and fix the canopy, i still miss my made to order custom colored canopy with the red diamonds. let's see, you guys kept my canopy, what, 9 months, 10 months and i was promised a competition 170^2 canopy and it never happened. thank god i have a fairly decent job where i could affored a new canopy. by the way, i bought a PISA HeatWave 170^2, i have yet to be dissapointed. nothing odd nothing peculuer don't need to do anything fancy at deployment time.....coincidence? canopy pilot? i use the same 24" jim cazer pc i bought for my Cobalt, the only difference is the HeatWave works and the Cobalt didn't. because the HeatWave hasn't acted wierd mean i got better at deployment time? or does it mean PISA has a better canopy? i'm in question mode here. fix your canopy, quit making excuses for it, and return your phone calls. ready, set...go! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
