Make the trip to Raeford. First jump course includes 6 minutes in the Paraclete XP tunnel. You won't regret it. Arrive Safely John
  8. Enough. I just combed through this mess and removed all the PAs. Those who made them were given a 3 day break from G&R. This thread and the companion thread from months ago have been locked - do not start another one. Take any further conversation on the topic to PMs. Arrive Safely John
  9. USAPT Golden Knights posted on their website late last week that the Black and Gold meet scheduled for Veterans Day weekend has been CANCELLED I don't have any details as to why . . . http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/goldenknights/Webpage2005_content.html Arrive Safely John
  10. The overall point here is that it was quite clear what he meant, despite the spelling mistake. You are among the 1% of the members here that really give a shit whether or not spelling is perfect in a post or not. I make an effort to spell things correctly as you do, but I think it's petty to correct others here when the spelling/grammar errors don't really matter when it comes to the meat of the subject at hand. 11. Since we're all about sharp-shooting others with a spell checker around here, it's "a lot" (two separate words). This isn't a grammar forum, it's a skydiving forum. Arrive Safely John
  12. The first thread on this subject was removed at the request of the OP. The manufacturer changed the SB right after it was issued and the OP did not want to cause confusion. Arrive Safely John
  13. Another factor to consider is your body size. I am a bog guy, and went with an M-Series. A Micron sized for the same canopies would have put the main deployment handle much higher on my back and harder to reach. Arrive Safely John
  14. Nope. Being a SLJM in the military doesn't qualify you to put out SL students. It certainly will make it easier for you to earn the rating, though. Arrive Safely John
  15. Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street. Arrive Safely John
  16. The post in question, which has been removed, was from August 13th of this year. Arrive Safely John
  17. @ Devarona: [warning] Personal attacks are not allowed in the forums. [/warning] Arrive Safely John
  18. Did you try the User Search? If you PM me their name I'll see if I can help out. Arrive Safely John
  19. Your altimeter should not stick or lag at all, climbing or falling. I strongly recommend you don't jump that altimeter any more until you get yours tested in a vacuum chamber. Where are you located? Arrive Safely John
  20. Let's get the thread back on subject, please. Arrive Safely John
  21. Post this on the Raeford Parachute Center Facebook page - I bet you will find a hook-up. PM me your phone number and email address - there are a couple of folks I have in mind that may be able to help. Arrive Safely John
  22. Hi and wecome to the forums! A few suggestions: -Take some time to understand the topic of each different forum, then choose the best fit for your post. In this case, the best feedback will come from other Instructors in the Instructor Forum. I moved it there. -Put a clear thread topic in your Subject line . . . it will lead to more people reading and commenting on your thread. -Use the search function. Topics like this have often been discussed before, including very recently, and many Instructors that have already replied to those may choose not to repeat themselves in another thread of the same flavor. Now onto your question - AFF/Is and TAN/Is at my DZ make $37 per jump. Arrive Safely John
  23. I am not sure how old this fella is, but if he is both physically and mentally capable of continuing to make static line jumps, and your DZ Rigger vouches for the airworthiness of the gear, I would do everything I could to accomodate him. Assuming that your aircraft is capable of static line jumps the nuts and bolts of it are easy (spotting the airplane and putting him out (which he can probably do himself) and retrieving the static line). The most important part is making sure the weather conditions are safe for an SL jump and choosing the spot (he may be able to do that himself as well). From my experience (I personally know a guy just like this), a lot of these guys will continue to do these demos regardless of how often they actually jump . . . if you accomodate him at your DZ you my be making his demos safer in the process. Additionally, you contribute to this gent and his team honoring a group of soldiers that should never be forgotten or takn for granted. I have met many of them over the years - they are incredible men that took on unfathomable tasks at a very young age. Arrive Safely John
  24. I use one on both my work and personal rigs and love it. On the ground, after you stow your brakes, just bend over and shrug the rig down to the back of your neck. Reach over your head and disconnect it - easy. Arrive Safely John
