  1. I just had a brand new tongue switch go bad this weekend too. I jumped it about 8 times. There's a tiny little hole in the membrane. I'll bet it's the same problem. I found this post from a few years ago. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=237785;search_string=conceptus%20hole;#237785 Has anybody tried the self fixes they mention? I tried the superglue, but it didn't work. They're very cool about replacing bad ones. I just wish I had known that they weren't very reliable. I would have bought two of them. I lost a lot more money this weekend because of this than what an extra tongue switch would have cost. Plus I sent them a pre-paid express mail envelope just to make sure I got it back in time for next weekend. Express shipping both ways cost almost as much as another switch. Are the rim world switches any better?
  2. Waycool makes really nice stuff too. I bought the .25 Black Eye lens from them. The only thing I didn't like about buying from them is the shipping from Australia. They make it very clear that when you buy from them you risk not getting your stuff and if you don't it's not their problem. You don't get a tracking number or delivery confirmation unless you pay the extra for FedEx. And from Australia to the US on FedEx isn't cheap. They would be alot more appealing if they had a distributor in the US.
  3. Hypothetically, would it matter? Unless he's going to sell his presentation or something? I'm not saying it's ok or that he should do it or anything. Just wondering what the rules really are...
  4. Hell yeah. Just got mine today. You guys were right. Riggerrob's handi-mount rocks! Rob is great to deal with too. If anybody's thinking about getting one of these I'd definitely recommend talking to him. Thanks for the advice. Check it out.
  5. There's lots of them at www.skydivingmovies.com
  6. Have you needed to re-line in these 400-500 jumps?
  7. Thanks for the replies guys. It doesn't sound like anybody's got anything negative to say about it. Just what I needed to hear. Looks like I found a new ride... I'll write a review when I get a few more jumps on it, but so far I love everything about this canopy! Thanks again! Tony
  8. Dude your English is 1000 times better than my Finnish, but I'm not sure I get what you're saying...
  9. Yeah, there are 2 on there about the Blade, but neither mentions maintainence. Seems people write reviews when they first get a new canopy or demo one. I'd like to hear from someone with some long term experience with it.
  10. I got to try out a 108 the other day and I loved it. I'm thinking about buying it, but I'd like to hear from someone who's had one for a while. The guy that's selling it said it had about 100 jumps on it and the lines look fine, but I've heard that those HMA lines wear out quickly. I can probably live with that, but I'd like to know if there's anything else I need to be worried about. If you've put a few hundred jumps on one of these I'd really like to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks. btw- He wants $1250 for it with the risers. Sound like a good deal?
  11. I've never seen 28mm threads before. I've seen 25, 27 ,30, 37... but never 28. What kind of camera is it?
  12. Very nice! What program do you use to edit?
  13. I've had quite a few different cameras lately. TRV17 TRV27 PC101 PC105... The best one for the money would have to be the TRV17 mostly because touchscreens suck. I wish Sony would quit making them. I've seen TRV17s go for around $200 on ebay. They're good cameras. Seriously, I wouldn't spend $1000 on a skydiving video camera. For that kind of money you could get a decent video camera and a nice digital still cam too. But, if your profile is right, you'd probably be better off spending the extra $ on lots more jumps before you do that. Good luck with it!
  14. That is a badass looking helmet. I think I'll take that color. Wish I would have seen it before I ordered a new one. I could have saved $50. Even better, I wish I'd known about those bonebonds 6 months ago! What a deal that is! Thanks guys.
  15. Well I broke down and ordered an FTP from Sq.1 today. The standard options on colors were carbon fiber, one color, or "one color fade to carbon". I went with sliver fade to carbon, but I've got a few days to change it if I want. Does anybody have a pic of what "fade to carbon" looks like? I looked through their website and I looked through all the pics on the post your helmet thread and haven't been able to find one. Thanks.
  16. What are the tuck tabs supposed to do? Is there any disadvantage to not using them? Ours are all curved now so they rarely stay tucked in anyways, but even when they were new and flat it's hard to imagine them being strong enough to hold the container closed with the drouge released.
  17. Thanks for the helmet Velocityphoto. I took the mount off and put it on my current helmet and it works great. Check it out. It's a Flat Top Pro-tec.
  18. Last summer I took a lady on her 84th birthday. I think I was a lot more nervous about it than she was. She did great though. The canopy ride was a little rough for her and she dry heaved for about 20 minutes after we landed, but she said the freefall part was "Delightful!". She sent me a Christmas card with $50.00 in it.
  19. Well, I jumped that nose heavy helmet all weekend after taking ltdivers advice on the ringsight . It worked but my neck hurts. Velocityphoto if your offer is still open I'd really like to take you up on it. If you pm me your address I'll send the $20 tomorrow or if pay pal works for you that's cool too. If that isn't any better I'm going to skip my house payment this month and buy an FTP. Thanks again you guys for all the help. I really do appreciate it. Check it out. Here's my very first freefall still picture.
  20. There's ony about 2 inches more room behind it. I don't think it would make much difference. The pc105 is really light compared to the digirebel especially with the Sigma 15mm lens on it. I shouldn't have bought that lens. I should have used the money to buy a decent helmet. I probably could have gotten by just fine with the kit lens. What if I switched them around and put the rebel on top and the 105 out front? Is there any reason I shouldn't do that?
  21. Alright. I just now finished putting this together. I'm almost afraid to jump it though. It feels reeaaallly front heavy. I've never jumped a still camera though so maybe that's just what it feels like. I know I'm an idiot for putting $1800 worth of shit on a $30 helmet, but I spent all my money on the cameras and the other stuff that you need with them. What do you think? Would you jump it? Or should I wait until I can get a real helmet?
  22. Thanks for the info guys. I just bought one on ebay for $16. This is going to be a pain in the ass having to get behind the VCR and take off their cable to plug mine in every time I need to edit. Then have to switch them back for the next guy. Thanks again everybody. I appreciate the help. Tony
