mmmm. i've broken ribs 4 or 5 times (playing rugby and generally getting beaten up!). I generally feel fine after 4 weeks, but experience has shown that 4 weeks isn't enough for me. it's a real pain but i find it best to wait at least 6-8 weeks before doing anything too strenuous again. Broken knees aren't all bad though... I wrecked mine about 4 years ago playing Rugby, ACL sheared clean off, others stretched and cartilage gone. I can't play again, but thankfully it's meant i could get round to getting into skydiving - i can still land okay see. (p.s. i can appreciate the feeling/depression of not being able to do your first love - yes rugby was my first love!... cool. good work. isn't everyones first jump a bit of a blur? I was the same way, and to be fair it really pissed me off when people kept saying 'all you need to do is chill out'. They just couldn't understand that I was different, and I was not meant to jump out of planes, and i wasn't as confident as them, and i coudn't just chill out no matter how much i wanted to. As it happens 'they' were right. My Dad jumped with the British Army back in the 60's. As a kid i always remember his uniform had a parachute badge on the sleeve. I'm 25 and have wanted to jump ever since I started doing a 60+ hour week in rainy London. Kinda gets to you after a while. Ummm I also get bored very easily. (Probably something to do with my attention/hyperactivity disorders!) I recently passed my AFF. (in fact this is my first post!). Have you tried using a wind tunnel? I hit a real wall at my level three, and my confidence was really low. The instructors suggested the tunnel as my main problem was not being confident in my ability to 'chill out and arch'. I then did 10 minutes in the tunnel (albeit with a fairly rocky start!).. Wow. The next day i sailed through the rest of the levels and did another 25 odd jumps over the next week. Can't say it'll help for you, but it really gave me a massive boost, and basically reassured me that once I was in the air I would know what to do. With that in mind ascent to altitude and exiting the plane were much much easier!
