  1. The rumor 'round these-here parts is that Sector Alpha slots are the hot ticket at this shindig. Ah course, I'm not one to believe everything I read (if the words ain't too big), but the scrolling on the men's room wall hints that for a good time, be on the 20-way hybrid dive that the Alpha Tribe could be offering up for the enjoyment of the masses. You didn't hear it from me....
  2. We're headed to the Malevsky cup next month. Any tips on traveling with rigs in Europe and Russia? Any hassles with carrying on in a gear bag? Blue Skies! Scott
  3. Friend of mine heard this one...he was talking to a whuffo about skydiving, and the guy looks at him and says "So, let me get this straight..you made a sport out of an emergency procedure?"... >> "Here's how you cure cancer: make it more cool for a kid to grow up to be a scientist than it is for him or her to be an athlete or a Pop Star. 4. At is early February meeting in Brazil, the International Parachuting Commission of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale accepted a bid from the United States to host the First World Cup of Canopy Piloting at Perris Valley Skydiving near Los Angeles this fall. The IPC also approved a new performance record category, head-down largest formation, in time for freefly record attempts in Sebastian, Florida, February 7-9. Large canopy and freefall formation records rules were modified to be complete and in control, rather than held for a specified time. >> "Here's how you cure cancer: make it more cool for a kid to grow up to be a scientist than it is for him or her to be an athlete or a Pop Star. 5. The key is that you don't have to memorize all of the blocks at once. Start with the first 6 (or 5 or 4). Go over them each time you workout this week (you do workout, right?). Then, the next week take next "block of blocks" (sorry, just had to do that), and go over them along with the ones that you already know. Once you have all the randoms and blocks memorized, be sure to review them at least once a day, only takes a couple of minutes. Just a suggestion, although this may not work for everyone. I used this method to memorize the 4-way and 8-way dive pools...I know, I know, I'm one sick puppy... >> "Here's how you cure cancer: make it more cool for a kid to grow up to be a scientist than it is for him or her to be an athlete or a Pop Star. 8. He's doing good things to the DZ. Check it out! (Rumor has it that he's even going to update the website!) >> "Here's how you cure cancer: make it more cool for a kid to grow up to be a scientist than it is for him or her to be an athlete or a Pop Star. That's how you cure cancer."
  9. I have an "original" VooDoo and a version 2. I love both. They are extemely comfortable (on the ground, in the plane, in freefall, under canopy), well built, and RI service is second-to-none. If you have any questions on the rig, call RI, and ask to talk to Sandy Reid. He loves talking about his rigs :) >> "Here's how you cure cancer: make it more cool for a kid to grow up to be a scientist than it is for him or her to be an athlete or a Pop Star. 10. Word I'm getting from a friend who knows a guy who once dated a girl who may have been at the DZ yesterday is that they would have got credit for a second point but the formation was flying so flat that some of the wackers didn't see Kirk's key, so the judges gigged 'em for not showing complete separation between points :)
  11. Might want to ask around the Houston area before making the trek to San Marcos. Word I get is that since they sold their Otter, they are mainly a tandem DZ now. Could be I'm misinformed, but doesn't hurt to check first.
