    munich?

Well, I for one would happily pack a rig, lend it to JT and make a personal delivery if he was stuck in my home town. And I'm not a saint! CJ
  6. Time to revive this poll and thread? Or is it just me getting old? CJ=)
  7. You are a very sick man, my friend
  8. Thanks for the good times, Adam! I'll never forget your smile! My deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to your family! We'll meet again, bro! CJ
  9. He's getting standing ovations. The sound is definitely not as hard as the what we heard on the BASE movies. He's got a vey unique expression that I would be careful to define. Works miracles for me though
  10. Over the years there have been several posts where people have enquired about the sound track from the 1st and 2nd BASE movies. Finally, this Monday, Shaun Bartlett who has lent his voice to the films, released his debut album in Norway: Sometimes Divided I don’t know how it will be distributed overseas, but I’m sure it’s possible to buy online for now. A definite must-have in any record collection
  11. Hardcover, please! Not too many questions asked, like NickD says. Jump#, date, object, and some space for addidtional info. (Who got busted, who screwed up etc.) CJ =)

    The F-word

I second that! Power to him for doing it! Felix obviously likes the action movie style stunts, and this could have been a cool sequence in any film. Nice work buddy! CJ =)
  13. Hi all, I just returned from a great trip to one of the three valleys in mid Norway. The one with the TW. An awesome amount of jumpers have found their way there this year and it's super cool to see that so many foreigners are enjoying some of the tallest cliffs in our country. Most locals in the TW area are very pro base, but there have been a few occations where jumpers have been a bit too keen to get to the exit point and driven their cars quite fast on private roads. Please note that the road to Gridset is private, and the farmer who owns it is really cool letting us use it. People burning past his barn, whirling up dust, is not doing us any favours. This is one of the most accessible jumps in Romsdal and frequently used so please show due respect when entering his land. (I also believe the actual cliff is on his property). A local jumper was approached by the farmer and he (the jumpers) asked to have the information posted so we collectively can keep the valley a happy place to visit for many, many years to come! Cheers, CJ =) (PS. Tom, I know I'm not to name sites here, but this is a legal site I have difficulties with explaining which is without calling it by it's Norgie nick name.
  14. Could some one please share some pictures for us unfortunate absent ones? CJ=)
  15. Stylin'!!! My favourite on this tread so far! Anyone with a copy of Hoover's infamous two-way with his 9 year old son? CJ =)

    Tracking suit.

First of all, don't be sorry for posting questions here as a none BASE jumper. There are a lot of really, really skilled trackers in this forum so it makes sense to go here for answers. I also think it makes sense to keep developing your tracking skills without the use of smoke- or fly-pants. It's a bit like downsizing canopy too fast in skydiving. The question is really hard to answer for someone who haven't seen you jumping though. I've seen people with just over a 100 jumps with more talent and skill than other with 5 or 10 times the experience. The average person with a 100 jumps though would probably benefit from further jumping without any tracking device. Yes, there are added dangers to jumping with smoke or fly pants. Stability is a major issue and you should treat it with the same respect as a wingsuit. Save up and buy a tracking suit, rather than making your own. I highly reccomend Phoenix Fly, but there are other options out there too. Have fun and be safe! CJ =)
  17. Although it started on a tragic note, it is good to see this thread revived early in the big-wall season! Reread; and be safe this summer! CJ=)
  18. And some would say a paraglider who did just that was the man...
  19. I've been pondering these questions myself on a few occations. To call yourself a BASE jumper I think it's sufficient to have made a jump from the four different objects. A minimum of four jumps required. At the same time I don't think it's wrong to identify yourself as a BASE jumper if you're an active participant in the sport and are jumping on a regular basis, but haven't jumped objects from all four categories. I'm guessing there are jumpers with 100+ jumps who yet haven't jumped, say, a building. A BASE jump is a BASE jump, and if you're doing it would make you a BASE jumper. I think the development of the sport, and the idiomatic use of the term BASE jump, may allow people to be BASE jumpers without having received the BASE award. Personally I wouldn't call someone who has done one or a couple of jumps a BASE jumper, but I wouldn't say anyone was wrong to do so either. I have no idea why, but my guesstimate of the total number of people who have done one or more base jumps has been around 10 000 too. When I started jumping, my locals defined an active base jumper as someone who did 50 or more jumps a year. Wonder how many fits this category world wide? CJ=)
  20. Let's say the jump included a somewhat spectacular office entry... Tom Cruise probably walks away unhurt after the jump, old Hoover wasn't that lucky. He did walk away with one of the best base stories I've been told to day though, and I'm super happy I got to meet and jump with John at the start of my base career. CJ=)
  21. I'm with the Doffdonner: It's the sport of base jumping no matter how technically anal you want to get. Put me down for a big fat 747 CJ=)
  22. Funny. I just turned the TV on and 20/20 is doing a story on the making of MI III. They showed the jump... The late John Hoover made a very similar jump back in the 80s. Spectacular
  23. Him being a skydiver could be part of the explanation. Apart from that base jumping makes any movie better. The jump in "Along came Polly" was one of my most memorable cinematic experiences. Bryan Brown: "I'm just gonna do a bit of a BASE jump". I've seen a lot of fun pre-jump rituals, but his streching outdo them all
