  1. So did I (vote for America) . Where there is a melting pot of races, beliefs and cultures. Where the people are supposed to be heard and treated equally. Maybe now I can start to love this country as I once did when Clinton was President. Go Obama!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  2. Yeah, those are the same brilliant minds who were most likely responsible for our last President. It is quite embarrasing that they call themselves American quite frankly. I'd say that if you are so disgusted with this country that you are hanging flags upside down and believe God should be the one you are concerned with, perhaps you should live in a country run by faith and not democracy. Perhaps you should move to someplace like the middle east where they believe in dying for their God to prove a point. I am disgraced by these people, especially after all of us had to endure the last President who was as anti American as they get. I agree. Love it or LEAVE it. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  3. If his tax plan goes throught i will have to get rid of some people. And the people i know supported Obama will be first! They brought it on there selfs!!!!!!!! Hey they wanted change and they will get it!!! Sore loser #2 Maybe Kallend #2 Well I hope those people you intend to get rid of chime onto this website to see that you are getting rid of them because of their political affiliation. Isn't that called discrimination? That just shows your true colors and the probability that you are a discriminator. No wonder you wouldn't want to vote for a black president. You know, if Obama was President, people like yourself might be able to afford an education and learn how to spell too. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  4. Yeah!!! Great Post! And to those of you who think America sucks now and post tombstones relating to the recent death of our country, etc. As far as I am concerned you all can go live somewhere else. I have had to look at that disgusting creature you elected for the last 8 years and have witnessed him destroy our country, our economy and our relationship with the rest of the world. I was beginning to be embarrased to call myself an American. Well, now maybe I can have pride over it once more. It is about time we got someone in there who is not a greedy Republican looking to pad the wallets of Fat Cats. I know things can always get worse but I think George, to some of you a hero may have topped the cake for the near death of our country. All I can say is Republicans go home, it is time for some Good Change for a Change! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  5. Ummm no offense but your tombstone's expiration is about 8 years too late. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  6. That is such a retarded argument! Well all I can say is that I am finally starting to feel like an American again and I am proud of the American people. Unfortunately there are too many out there who are racist biggots who would rather vote for a guy based on skin color than what he can do for this country. I don't see how after the last 8 years anyone can conceptualize voting for McCain. Unless maybe you make more than 250K. I am happy to see the Repiublicans leave the White House. I hope to never hear or see Bush's ugly face again, that guy makes me angry and sick. I am all about the change and am disappointed when I see and hear people in Missouri talking about how they would never vote for a black president. Well I voted for him and his family and I couldn't be happier that they prevailed. Go OBAMA, Go home Republicans!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  7. Bump. Come on People, it is time to vote if you haven't already. Get to the polls today by 7pm or your voice will not be heard!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  8. I was predicting 8 ish about a month ago... Thinking Jesus, it could get down to eight before it starts to turn around. Let's just say 8 got here a bit quicker than I had planned! Starting to get a little nervous. I know I am not buying anything until it hits at least 8 or even lower now... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  9. Yah and what a crock! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  10. I know crap about them too and thanks to these fellas, I know less crap I still have questions, but I can't ask them yet. I need to let all of that digest for a while but thanks! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  11. John, when you said "Actually, forcing the engine to turn REDUCES the drag of the prop. The maximum drag is when the prop is completely freewheeling in flat pitch." can you explain? Now I am completely confused compared to the analogy of the leading edge of the prop parallel to the ground to prevent drag. What do you mean by "freewheeling"? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  12. Yes and thank you. Can you define what is meant by "proper engine rigging?" Second in your #4, there is a problem with the engine or propeller, could that issue be congruent with the torque issue you mentioned in your earlier post about not enough torque to create enough rotational force to allow the props to provide the necessary horsepower? Am I at all on a track here or just completely stretching? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  13. Bush's need to engage in war over Sadaam's weapons of mass destruction was a hoax from the beginning. He also used 9/11 as an excuse to attack and conquer Iraq, telling the American people that the war on Iraq was about a war on terrorism. Anyone with any common sense could see that there was no relationship between Osama Bin Laden and Sadaam. Although I do agree Sadaam was a dangerous dictator who needed to be overthrown, that should have been Bush's reason and the truth which is that the middle east is home to some obscene amount of oil, I am just guessing here but I think it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 80% or higher. Maybe it is just a coincidence that most of the oil resides there and Bush's family is heavily connected with the oil industry Do I trust a word that comes out of his mouth? No. And to have the gall to transport and protect the Bin Laden family ... at the same time he is gearing up to declare a war on Iraq. Confucius say, Some Ting Fishy... As for the severity of the financial crisis? Well, let's see, we spent trillions on war in the middle east, have had billions spent in many natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and others, many states have been in a state of emergency needing federal funds, then you have the beginning of the housing meltdown ... Bush does not want to accept or look like the fact that he is probably the worst President America has ever had. I would try and cover up for it too if I looked that bad. You have got to expect that. Yet the Republicans couldn't wait to uleash Clinton's sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  14. Question for Totter, Chris or anyone else who has knowledge on this: If there was a "problem" with the torque gauge earlier that year that did not seem to be that big of a deal at the time, it seemed like there was a problem with the gauge rather than a problem with the torque... Again sorry to sound like a dumbass but can someone please explain what the torque is related to and how it is measured? Would that have anything to do with what Totter was talking about with regard to there not being enough engine torque? I can't recall everything you said off the top of my head but I do recall you mentioning an issue with torque and I am trying to figure out the possibility of the two being connected. I wish I remember exactly what the problem was but I got that it had to do with a torque gauge and the pilot who was flying did not feel comfortable and brought the plane down to land. Also edited to add: Thank you very much to WolfRiverJoe and LongWayToFall for the explanations, you guys are helping me to understand better Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  15. Also can someone please explain what a "rolling start" is in comparison with how you are "supposed" to take off and what it means to "feather an engine" vs. shut it down? Thanks ahead of time... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  16. I have a few questions after reading many of these posts again. First, can someone please explain what "ground effect" is and what it means to come out of it... Next, with regard to the Torque and performance that Totter was talking about. There are two times I have landed in that otter due to engine problems. The first was after a climb to 7K. One of the engines just seized up. I am almost positive it was the left engine that seized but I may be wrong. Scott was flying and I was doing an AFF with a student. I remembered wondering whether we should get out at 7K or stay. When I asked Scott what he wanted us to do, he said "it was up to me". I interpreted that to mean that things were OK either way and it was my decision to exit or land with the plane. I chose to land with the plane on that day and it was without incident. We were over the DZ and we came in for a smooth landing. I think if faced with the same choice today, I would definitely go. If you are an instructor or even if you aren't, one thing I learned from that experience is to think about your exit strategy ahead of time and have some clear decisions of when you will go or stay. Nowadays, I think I will always GO if given the choice. Then there was another time when another pilot was flying. This load was much more full. I remember we took off and started to climb but we were forced to land. I don't remember how high we got but I remember it being much lower. I think it was around 3,500 feet and I know it wasn't more than 5,000 feet. I questioned both Scott and the pilot flying that day why we needed to land and I was told there was something wrong with a "torque gauge" and was led to believe that it was just a little gauge problem and not a big deal. Now after reading Totter's post, I am beginning to wonder if there was more to it than that. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  17. Well Bush signed it and the DOW still fell another 157 points today; that sure instills a lot of confidence in me... Next week should be an interesting time in the markets... I just hope this is a repeat of history and we are going to just have to sit tight and hold onto our pants for a while until we recover... I hope that isn't wishful thinking. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  18. Accuracy at the polls depends on if you are George Bush with family ties in Florida and a close race. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  19. Let's just agree that they are all corrupt in some fashion or another. Just like we are all human and make mistakes too. That set aside, who is going to make things worse and who is going to have a chance at making things better? I think at the very least from current history, we need a change in the status quo. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  20. Normiss and Hotamaly, Why after watching that debate do you think McCain will make a better president? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  21. And, I think people should vote for themselves, not what party they consider themselves a part of. That is why I suggested watching 60 minutes clips on Yahoo so people can make INFORMED decisions, not just listen to my opinion. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  22. Well if my statements made you want to vote for McCain and you thought I was calling you ignorant I was not. Ignorant is not a bad thing or a stupid thing, it is a dangerous thing. If my opinion made you want to vote for McCain than I guess you will just join the other Americans who haven't seen enough abuse of this country for power. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  23. I was just watching the 60 minutes debate on the current issues facing America between Obama and McCain... All I can say is that I hope people have learned over the last 8 years what the Republicans and Bush have done to this country, spending, taxes, health care, education. It has gotten so horrible on all levels. I don't have that much faith in people since Bush not only got elected but then re-elected... But if people continue to be politically ignorant when they vote and we end up with another Republican like McCain... You are looking for destruction unless you are a multi-millionaire. If you are apathetic, get off your butt and get to the polls to vote and vote Democrat for President Obama. Yes, I wish his name was different and all but the bottom line is the guy is way more intelligent, way more prepared to lead America and his ideas are right on. I am and always have been pro Clinton. Anyone from that family in office is OK in my book. I still think Clinton was one of the best presidents (especially in my lifetime) so I was upset to hear that Hillary dropped out but I do understand. America may not have been ready for a female President, not in today's times. But the "First Gentleman" would have been a former Pres with good ratings and a good political track record. Bill would have been right behind her. His days in office were days I was proud to be an American and it was easier on the average Americans to live fruitfully. I really want to feel uplifted by my government again and not disgusted like I have been the last 8 years. All I have is my voice and my opinion so if you are reading this and you don't know who to vote for, go to Yahoo and look up 60 minutes debate Obama and McCain and listen to each candidate's responses before you decide who to vote for and then go and VOTE!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  24. I'm not sure what the solution is... All I can say is that I am responsible for my actions. I do not live beyond my means. When I was super poor, I paid $300 rent to live at my DZOs house and was a skydive bum. I worked hard at the same time to go to college and put myself through since my parents were unable to help out financially. I only acquired debt when I had to, that which was necessary for me to get ahead in the future. I worked hard and continue to work hard so I can provide a better life for my daughter and I. That is my focus. Like you said, if I can't afford it, I don't buy it. I own 3 credit cards for emergencies and can see how crooked banks are by predatory lending and high interest rates. I choose not to play. I was almost in trouble with a variable ARM but once I got wind of all that BS I quickly refinanced over to a 30 year fixed. For the Americans who have played their cards right and made sound decisions, those who were responsible with their finances, the last 5 years could have been an opportunity to refi at a low interest rate and get some cash out for improvements or to pay off debt. Perhaps put money away for a rainy day or even get ahead by investing in good solid investments. I don't think it is fair that we now all have to suffer the burden for those who did not and were not responsible. People who got greedy trying to buy numerous houses for profitability in a market that shoud not have supported it... Many had to have known that they were getting in way over their heads. Then, lenders, banks and brokers who lied, cheated and stole making exhorbinant amounts of money hand over fist like fat cats without any thought of the reprecussions. Those people who made those decisions should have to bail themselves out. And if those greedy fuckin banks need our help, we should get paid back with the ridiculous interest they choose to tack on and get a taste of their own medicine for a change. As far as Dr. Phil goes, I think the guy is pretty bright. He may not be the world's great economist but he usually has something enlightening to add (Just my opinion). 25. "POTUS"? I am guessing that stands for Piece O Terrible Unscrupulous Shit??? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
