    Skydive Utah

Stopped off here for a few days on the way to Lost Prairie. From start to finish I felt welcome here. Everyone from manifest, to the DZM, packers, fun jumpers were friendly and inclusive. They have a King Air that flies to altitude super quick. Approximately 10 minutes (maybe even less) with a full load. Manifesting for jumps is super simple. After checking in you tell manifest when you want to get on a load, no tickets needed. At the end of the day if you don't have enough money or credit on your account you pay the rest. They are very organized with a screen by the packing area that shows who is on what load and estimated times for each load. This combination makes it easy to get many jumps in quickly if you are motivated to do so. In fact one of the days I did 5 jumps in 5 hours :) Landing are is large and I imagine Skydive Utah is an excellent place to learn from what I saw of the instructors. I camped out for two nights and felt right at home. Just keep in mind no running water so stock up before hitting Skydive Utah. Hope to return soon!
  2. I can totally relate to this. The jump after my first reserve ride I almost rode the plane back down and I had over 100 jumps at the time. Something that may help you is trying to think about your cutaway from a different perspective. You correctly handled your emergency, so maybe try thinking of it as a confidence builder in that you can handle whatever emergency occurs in the future. Keep practicing and reviewing your EPs. Another thing that may help is finding gear that you can really trust. Do you have your own gear or are you still on rental gear? I was put on this earth to do one thing. Luckily I forgot what it was so I do whatever I want.
  3. Thanks for your response. I understand I need to work on my landings before downsizing. Downsizing isn't a fix to my landings but something I'd like to do in the future after my landings improve. That is a good idea, when I take the flight 101 course I'll talk to the instructor about potential canopies including the safire2 I was put on this earth to do one thing. Luckily I forgot what it was so I do whatever I want.
  4. Hi, maybe I didn't state this very clearly. I am not downsizing until I am more consistent in landing. Possibly at the end of this summer. I would like get a head start researching canopies and hearing what canopies people have had experience with and would recommend. my landing problem is that I'm not landing on my feet most of my jumps especially in no wind conditions thanks for your input I was put on this earth to do one thing. Luckily I forgot what it was so I do whatever I want.
  5. Looking to downsize in a few months and want to hear opinions on what canopies may be suitable for me. Currently flying a 168 pilot which I've put approximately 75 jumps on (I have a total of 99 jumps). My current wing loading is .89 My landings are not consistent hence the downsizing in a few months part. I have taken the standard canopy course and plan to take Flight 101 this summer before downsizing. Looking to downsize to a 150 which would put me right around 1:1 My main reason for wanting to downsize is to get better wind penetration in higher winds. I want a canopy that is still fairly docile and newbie friendly. Considering sticking with a Pilot, but want to see what else is out there for someone in my skill/experience level. Any input is appreciated, thanks! I was put on this earth to do one thing. Luckily I forgot what it was so I do whatever I want.
