  1. I have an X and 2 XVs and I love them. Works fine in the tunnel. Sometimes the coaches make me put a little tape over the visor release on each side. IMHO I'll take a phantom over a G3 any day.
Oh ya.... Other people can't see your mouth in the phantom.
I personally have never had to mouth words or do any lip reading, but I've heard others say that this is an important option for them.

  2. Probably doesn't happen very often but it could make sense with the right swap. I'm curious because I am down to the smallest (170sqft) that will fit in my container. I started with a hybrid 230sqft. What's the details of your rig?

  3. I'm on jump 115 and still no camera. However, I have tons of pics and videos from other experienced jumpers that they kindly gave me for free. There are probably some friendly jumpers at your DZ that would do the same for a thanks or a beer. If it's all about the pic... let someone else take it!!!!

  4. Me 110 jumps 42yrs old 3kids busy as hell. AFF/A license last year. I'm at the point where everyone is freeflying and I'm still doin belly stuff. I've tried a few back and sit flys. I really want to be proficient on my belly 1st. Anyhow.. I frequently remind myself to remember why I jump. I jump for FUN!!! Keep enjoying that you get to jump out of an airplane. That's the fun. Don't stress. Stay current stay educated and enjoy skydiving. It is what you make it to be. BLUE SKIES B|

  5. So my infinity rig needed new tuck tabs, chest strap, boc, wash job, reserve repack. I tried to time it perfect so I wouldn't be on the ground for long. The day after I shipped it Vigil comes out with product advisory for my 07 vigil 1. Shit!! So I email Velocity and Vigil to see if I could coordinate the AAD exchange and install for a Vigil 2+. It went perfect. I got my rig back after 27 days total. DAMN!! I didn't expect it to be so fast and smooth. It looks perfect. In the meantime I found a new local rigger/friend to patch a small hole in my main. Thank you Jerry!!!
That being said.. I gotta give huge props to the staff at both Velocity Sports and Vigil. I'm so freaking pumped!! Time for some PNW sunshine and all will be right in the world!!

  6. I'm 6' 1" 220lbs, bout 240 with my gear on. 42 Years old.
    Jump # 110 in 1 year.
    I know where you're at.
My student canopies were 285, then 3 jumps on a 265. I bought and jumped my 1st canopy on jump # 32. It's a pulse 230. I love it and still jump it. Hybrid skin LPV so it's easier to pack than some. I also found finding a container easier knowing that a 230 could pack small. It opened a lot more options for "big guy" main tray/harness combinations.
Going from a 265 to a 230 was huge for me. The landing speed was a real eye opener. Only fucked up a couple flairs in the beginning (sore ankles/knees for a couple days). Stood em' all up otherwise. I love long canopy rides and soft landings!!!! It's really exciting to shop for gear and as a big guy it's not easy. However I gotta agree on finishing AFF and getting some jumps in before you buy (20-30). Gear will always be out there!!

"Call Ralph" is a good option. Lots of gear.. See the back of parachutist mag for his ad. He's a real hoot to hang out with!!
