Drogue entanglement and reserve ride, Mesquite
radical_flyer replied to radical_flyer's topic in Safety and Training
wasn't very clear but yeah that's what I meant. Thanks. I tried to find it but I didn't think to check that forum. -
Just came across this, not looking to pass judgement or anything but I think this makes the TI look kinda bad. Thoughts?

What do you mean tracking tones?

Are there any US/CA dropzones that use snap shackle single point restraints?
-
Is that really necessary?

This guy's skyhook/ dropzone ban related posts make great reading. Not because they add value to the discussion (apart from entertainment value), but because he keeps repeating the same thing in all the posts and his arrogant know it all attitude despite still being a student. And the fact that he did 16 tandems before AFF!!!(19 total). I would very much like to read the orginal posts that resulted in his ban from the dropzone if anyone knows where they are.

Why is that?

Poor guy, didn't seem to "fight" the twists that much. Though. The bigger the better. I agree. Thanks. Is there a video of this?

I am still confused as to why someone clearly capable of writing intelligible content would post some nonsensical spambot-level BS, with a broken link. The thread title and post don't even mean anything... -
What's different about a silhouette that would make it dangerous? It's not that high performance is it? The description says "lightly tapered" which I think generally means it's not that aggressive. I've only jumped volts and pilots so I don't really know anything about different how different canopies handle, just that a fully eliptical like a katana for instance would be insanely aggressive and prone to spinning up, even at a conservative wing loading.

Anything in the UK? I know I would need to meet the requirements first anyway (200/C license).

Darwin award candidate...brain switched off...

I'm sure everyone's seen that video of the guy failing to route his chest strap properly in freefall before his AAD fires when still on his back and somehow manages to stay in the harness. The CI at my home DZ has a story about a jumper in the US somewhere who exited without leg straps on. Someone was able to communicate this to him in freefall and he went on his back and did them up. Fortunately for him this was back in the days of B12 snaps. After reviewing that video again of the former incident you wouldn't have a chance with friction adapters. -

What's the issue with that? -
This might help. I don't speak swedish, but it looks like B license for flip-up visors and C license for fixed visors (due to fogging, presumably). Not sure what the license requirements are, you might have to convert to a SFF/SPA B license if the license you currently hold is APF. We have a similar rule in the UK.

Any thoughts on sydney skydivers? I was thinking of going there for the skyvan and otters but I've seen some shit reviews, even from a sports jumper.

I don't know how it happened really. I was a noob, only done two minutes of first-flight at airkix (ifly) where they just hold you and you don't do shit. Forgot you need plugs, no one told me (I was flying at Bodyflight with an external tunnel coach). No doubt blasting a podcast at dangerous levels in my car to compensate for my new (temporary) deafness didn't help.
-
Ear plugs? I know they're not for everyone, in fact most people don't bother, but for me personally it's worth the hassle since I damaged my hearing tunnel flying without.

Canopy coaching on every jump.
