  1. Those sound like great questions for PD, don't you think?
  2. Official release date: Wednesday, May 24!
  3. Have you jumped a Tesla? If so, can you compare it to the X-Fire for us?
  4. Yes Edited to clarify that this is an app that you download on your own personal phone and then just bring your phone with you on the jump.
  5. I'd say go for it. Although I don't have any personal experience with it, I know people crushed it last year.
  6. Not sure if you have seen this: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4813737#4813737 Edit: Oops. Just saw that you already commented on the post.
  7. This is one of the reasons I just bought and mounted a Flysight on my helmet. I definitely want to use it for canopy progression (and maybe wingsuting when I get into that), but I also hope to gain some valuable insight into my free fall movement.
  8. He's in the window for the 8 year service now. Purchased (although not necessarily manufactured) in April 2009, means he is 7 years 9 months past his purchase date.
  9. Just a thought: Maybe the issue is not so much that 3/8" is a big deal right now. Maybe they are concerned about how far out of trim the canopy will become in the next 17.5 years (you did say the re-certification would cover 35 repacks, right?) if left unfixed. If it's 3/8" now, will it turn into 3/4", 1", or 2" or more just when it is needed the most and the jumper is unconscious (or insert your worst case scenario)? From what I understand, nylon degrades over time. Not that it would necessarily break, but maybe it would deform more easily with age? I could be way off. Again, just a thought ... or two.
  10. HAHA. I saw that one, but there was just too much to say. I moved on.
  11. Warning!!!! Grammar police!!! Sorry, but I can't read another "relign" post without saying something. "Relign" is not a word. I think you are looking for one of the following: realign: to restore to a previous position, or reline: to replace line. Either will work in this case, but the latter is probably more appropriate. Sorry for the interruption. Carry on.
  12. I ordered a G3 from them. Prompt shipping, order was filled correctly, and I got a free power tool (advertised promotion with G3 purchases). What more can you ask for? I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.
  13. Is he still saying the same 10 years later ? Did he really use the word "weaker" ? Good question. Let's not forget, too, that "weaker" and "slower" are relative terms. Alone, they mean nothing. And even if OP reserves are weaker and slower (than what? PD reserves? Smart reserves? other reserves?), does that make them unsafe, improper for the use, or possibly better in some aspects (discussion in other threads about slower openings reducing impact forces)? I'm not making an argument for or against OP reserves. Rather, I'm saying that things are not so black and white. Simply asking whether a reserve is weaker or slower opening does not mean that it is necessarily worse than some other reserve that is stronger and faster.
  14. "To be honest I find the viso and optima interfaces pretty straight forward ..." To be fair, so do I. I have a VISO 2+ and love it.
  15. The interface for the viso, optima, protrack is really awful, and complicated. That has nothing to do with the decades in which a person has lived. Agreed, but kids of the 80s are more used to remember long key combos for Mortal Kombat fatalities and special moves, so they might find changing altitudes or modes on L&B products slightly more familiar. As an example, UP-UP-DOWN-LEFT-R1-HOLD Y - TURN ON YOURSELF- PRESS SHIFT FOR 3.4 SECONDS - RIGHT- RIGHT - ATTACK - PULL MY FINGER - RIGHT 360, gives you the number of jumps on your viso. NO, NO, NO! ... LEFT 360 gives you the number of jumps on your VISO. RIGHT 360 gives you unlimited ammo. DUH!
  16. I actually don't see any lines outside of the slider grommets. I can see how it looks like there was one (or more) when viewed on a small phone, but when I looked at the video on my large work computer screen all of the lines are inside of the grommets. There is a huge amount of slack below the grommets on the right side of the slider, however. That was likely caused by the right end cells failing to inflate and being folded under the rest of the canopy.
  17. Why do you say that the Viso is capped at 19,999 feet? The following is from the Viso II manual: Operating altitude: 0 to 40,000 ft (0 to 12,191 m) Maximum logging altitude: 39,999 feet (12,191 m)
  18. Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, IL. Awesome people! Awesome DZ! Just spent the weekend there and I had a blast. Feel free to PM me if you want details, but there is free camping, great food/beer onsite (tiki bar open at night), top notch aircraft, etc. Have fun on your trip.
  19. +1 I don't have any affiliation with PD, but since you mentioned the Sabre2, check this out for a demo: http://www.performancedesigns.com/sport-demos-europe/
  20. Not saying that I know anything about this subject, but this guy might disagree with you (and your 201/202 instrustors): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25aExv7YDYg Regardless, it looks fun!!
  21. Not bad, but I can only give you a 7/10. Takes a lot of work to read all of those threads and compile the info into one troll.
