  1. Nope. This was a long time ago apparently. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  2. Someone told me today that there is an instructors \ CCI training video that contains a clip of an amateur Greek tandem master, who was carrying a glamour-model, who couldn´t deploy and they both went in. Apparently it was filmed both in the air and also from the ground, including the horrendous mess. Has anyone else heard about this? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." 3. There are so many wonderful dropzones in this wonderful country of ourse, staffed by such wonderful people. Everything is wonderful. Everything except Headcorn and Sipson. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  4. I think you're all missing a very important point. Wingsuit flying isn't the same as freefall, where one is falling to earth at 120mph. Falling at 35mph, one has much more time before they're considered 'low' and much more time to react. If someone pulled at 100ft in freefall...now that would be a low pull. 6. Yo, Alex. I'll be in Empuria from Wednesday 19th May till 6th June. Anyone want to jump with me? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  7. Hmmm, I used to think that clip was cool...until I saw 'Fastestmotherfuckerinthevalley'....and then I saw the Soul Flyers clip in Verbier...wow! "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  8. Anyone have any more information on Jane Buckel? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  9. It's not just Headcorn that's awful. I've jumped at Hinton twice, twice I've had extremely unpleasant experiences. On my second visit I spoke politely to 3 different members of staff on 3 occasions. Every one was rude and unhelpful and made me look stupid. There's a guy who posts on here called 'Trigger'. Search his posts for his bad Headcorn experiences. Also, a friend of mine who's jumped in Florida and Empuria and the UK, was told by Sibson staff that he was too fat. The thing is, there's no point telling everyone how bad the UK dropzones are, without doing something about it. I'm really angry that people here in the UK feel they can't jump at their local DZ because the staff are so rude. If senior staff from Headcorn don't reply with an explanation to these posts, I'm going to set up a website with footage of staff being rude, to name and shame them. 10. I mean, how do you feel about going in, not how WOULD you feel. Doh! "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  11. This isn't a reckless post, I'm genuinely interested. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience

    Flying

Craig, Just to clarify, does that mean that, with 250 jumps, one has to jump with an instructor first, but after a few jumps with a BMI one can jump alone? And that with 500 jumps, one only needs groundschool before they can jump solo? SL. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience

    Flying

Soon, I hope. I've heard that one needs 500 jumps in the UK to be able to fly, whereas in the US its 200. I also heard there are regular Birdmen courses in the US for people making their first flight. What does anyone know? Is it only 200 jumps? How much does the course cost, how long does it last, where is it held and how many jumps do you get? Is it like AFF where, once you qualify, you can jump your own suit? Any help much appreciated. Kjerag

Who can tell me about the first BASE experience offered at Kjerag? I've heard there's a 'course' there a bit like AFF, including accomodation, hire of rigs and coaching by top jumpers. Any idea how much it costs, how many jumps you must have, what the deal is, useful websites, etc. etc. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  15. The reason I'm interested in going smaller, is the harness. I only want to buy one harness, and one small enough to fit me (I'm very slim) and feel comfortable when I freefly. Is it possible to get harness that will fit both a 150 and a 135? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  16. I should really ask an instructor, yes. Anyone else? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  17. Sorry if this should go in the 'Gear & Rigging' section. I'm ready to buy my own rig. I have 140 jumps. I only weigh 60kgs (130 lbs) I'm not interested in swooping or hook-turning I feel confident under canopy My last 40 jumps were on a 170 Question: Would it be safe for me to purchase a 135 canopy with my rig? Or would it be essential to go for a 150 first? Remember, I'm only 60kilos (what would that make my wingloading on a 150 and a 135?) I can't find any DZ that has hire gear 150 that I could test for 30 jumps or so, and I can't afford to purchase a 150 that I would sell second hand after only another 50 jumps or so, which I'm sure I'll make in the next few weeks. What do you all think? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  18. Answers please... "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  19. I can average 89 mph but I´ve no idea whether this is ´slow´ or not. Any ideas? Has anyone done any better? If I´m this slow when tracking, any idea what I´d be like with a wingsuit? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  20. You may suggest talkback. But since the topic of discussion had turned toward skydive suicide, my post belongs here. It's certainly not an 'odd' thing to post for a Skydiver. I would imagine that we think about death and our own mortality a lot more than most. Every time we jump, actually. It's natural. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." 21. Eh? How can a stowed brake have the same tension as a pulled brake? A stowed brake is higher up than a released brake, surely? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  22. Sharks eat humans thus are higher above us in your 'food chain'. Would you be happy throwing a human to a shark? No. Deal with it. "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  23. A friend of mine wants to do her first tandem. I want to ride in the same jump plane and freefall with her. Am I allowed to 2-way her tandem? Do I need a CAT-10? Would there be extra dangers with the drogue chute? "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  24. Human animals are made of meat. You don't eat humans though, do you? No. All animals suffer pain, whether human-animals or non-human animals. If humans treated other species with a bit more respect by not eating them, maybe we could learn to treat each other a bit better "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
  25. I don't agree. If I'd had enough of living, I certainly wouldn't slit my wrists or struggle on the end of a rope. I'd have one last skydive, with friends. That's how I'd like to go. Quick, absolutely certain and the thrill of total ground-rush that none of us will ever live to experience "Into the dangerous world I leapt..." William Blake, Songs of Experience
