  1. If noone does anything wrong, why do you have to move all the time? Oh, everyone else is against the poor guys huh. Remember the joke about the two guys walking up on a pile of dog poo... If it looks, smells, and acts like it: it probably is. And noone wants that in their pool... lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  2. As apposed to the other way the ones you support have screwed tandem people for so long. You can't stand and scream about one thing and let a worse one pass unheralded. Just mho... tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  3. I think Matt is a good S&TA so there... I also question why you would bring up integrity when mentioning the people involved in slyride. They are definately mutually exclusive. Nyaa yaaa... lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  4. Thank you, thank you very much... lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  5. You wanted to make this public and now you talk in riddles. For the people that may know the sitch ok, but for the rest of us you make no sense. Do you know what is going on Matt? Could you fill in the rest of us? Do we want to know? lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  6. Seperating the landing areas is an area group members have agreed to abide by. While it may be a good idea a non GM does not have to comply with it to satisfy a GMship. So I see that as pertaining to safety. And this goes directly to appointing someone who does not go to the dz they were appointed to. At least it is a GM. Wouldn't it be even sillier to appoint one to a non GM and then have them not show up? See, we didn't hijack this thread, just made it more interesting. lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  7. I think we have gotten away from the S&TA being a safety nazi and moved on to them being in the chain of administration and paper work. We have all seen things go on at a dz that an S&TA should get involved in but doesn't because they make money or want that prestige of being an S&TA and don't want to piss off the DZO. I know not all are like that but some are. How about when a DZO is an S&TA. Some conflict of interest can come up. Being a GM should be about helping skydiving as a group. I have heard an awful lot about abandoning the program but I do not believe this would be in all of our best interests. We need to find a way to make the program work, for safety's sake. lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  8. I know jumpers want access to an S&TA. But if a DZO is not willing to become a member for any reason, should that same DZ have access to USPA ammenities? It is a choice for jumpers to jump at a non GM, so it is not like they wouldn't know they won't have access to an S&TA and all the other things that go with being a GM. It seems counter productive from USPA's point of view. Knowing that a DZ is not affiliated with the National governing body may make a difference to some tandem students, and shouldn't GM's get that advantage as well as every other one since they pay for it? USPA should be for USPA. If your not, don't expect the benefits. JMHO, tom tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  9. Mike was a great guy. I met him on several big ways in Texas. Blues Mike, loudtom Same here. tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  10. Thanks you two. After reviewing what you say, the dz in question is probably doing nothing wrong. I am glad that is what it looks like. It does look like foriegn rated instructors can only train people from thier country. If not Jan is right. *************Why would the Board not want to make foreign dz's that are gm's adhere to the same rules they make the dz's in our own country adhere too??????????????? That is discrimination isn't it? I see that the instructors would have to be USPA rated but so what. They are USPA GM's. I know Jan a whole nother can 'o worms... thanks for all the intelligent convo. tom tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  11. Thanks Jan, Now what to do when you know a dz that is doing tandems at a non gm dz with USPA rated instructors. Aff too probably. The RD knows about it but as usual has not stepped up and done anything about it. I tried at one time to have him do his job and he didn't. Sooooo.... Going to a National Director will only put it back in the rd's hands...The S&TA should be pulled but it isn't...because he said "what would they do without a s&ta"...how about not worrying about it and follow the rules. In a sport where we police ourselves, those that jump at a place like this only give permission for it to continue... lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  12. Why would my DZ want to have its people be USPA rated instructors or be USPA members? ============================= Not being from the USA I can understand your statement. What I can't understand is why you have nothing to do but reply to my post... tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  13. ---no. What do you mean by 'USPA handling all the paperwork'?--- I don't delve into every detail, but, if you have a manufacturers rating, to do tandems at a USPA member dz you have to have a USPA rating also. Is that correct? If you have don't have a USPA rating you can't do tandems at a USPA gm dz even with a manufacturers rating? Is that right? IF the dz is not a group member, you can get a manufacturers rating and do tandems there without a USPA rating. Is that correct? Why would a DZ not want to have its people be USPA rated instructors or be USPA members? In the current climate is it not prudent to use a National organization and have that affiliation? Lastly, I thought the manufacturers were having USPA act as something (I am not sure what) to handle paperwork after the original ratings were earned. Thanks for your help in understanding. tom tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
  14. Does a dz have to be a group member nowadays to do tandems with the new rating regs? I know they didn't have too before, but don't they have to be now with USPA handling all the paperwork? Just wondering... lt tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)

  17. I am glad to see that most of us agree. You may only find someone that cares about you, so that you know they will always be on your side, once if your lucky, maybe twice. NOTHING should stand in the way of that... Erin would agree, but she is gone, and I have to hope it happens again. ha lt You'll see I don't get here often, but the subject spoke to me...so to speak tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)

  19. Sometimes I miss you so much, other times I just miss you alot, I am working hard to make you proud of me. Slowly but surely. I am not sure where this came from but it seemed to fit. It was on an episode of Star Trek, a show I love and she hated. Go figure. In that book which is my memory on the first page of the chapter that is the day when I first met you appear the words Here begins a New Life i miss you erin tom #90 #54 #08 and now #5 with a Bronze :-)
