Square1 Fullface Helmet KISS - Visor Problem
davenuk replied to browardct's topic in Gear and Rigging
i had this problem when i forgot to close the visor fully, and also subsequently lost it. the new one i bought fit fine and i've had no problems since. take the visor off, check the mech for damage and re-fit it. -
I landed mine Sunday. Hadoken was administered

i started packing my own kit recently and after 25 goes packed my first line twist. strangely, when i offered the dbag to the container, i thought to myself, did i twist this? now this may be self fulfilling but, i didnt look up at the canopy which im told can cause it to rotate if you arent symetrical, and i also noticed that i hadnt left a lot of line between the bag and the risers (i was told about a metre and this was half that) i've packed the same again so i'll let you know if the short remaining lines might be the cause.

speak to your instructors at the DZ. low pack volume means the canopy folds up smaller so you can get a bigger canopy in the same size container. see above

you could probably side step a lot of agro just by having him read this thread.

push through it, it will subside.. i think jump 23 was my first free fall that i actually relaxed and saw the horizon "open up". that and smile, just pretend you're fine :) breath relax you got this im on 70 now and it's all so much nicer, still thoughtful, focussed, mindful... just much more relaxed.

hello, I might have the chance to be out that way beginning of april. are there any gotchas to look out for or is it just turn up with your paperwork and either rent/bring your own and jump? no special fees/memberships/insurances? (ive seen the 300 jump limit for the palm, shame as that looks sick as) thanks!

Who knows anything about sub $100 quad-copters? Battery question.
davenuk replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
we bought an X5SC for the boy recently. and after experiencing the same as yourself bought this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162305679301? improved things no end, you can easily get an hour out of it now, only snag is the batteries are a very snug fit so putting a parcel tape pull tab on it really helps. -
A Better Canopy Wing Loading Calculator

i just measured myself this morning and my mirage g4 with safire 169 and a 170 reserve is around 10kg. can i ask - shouldnt the lower end of the scale have a .7 minimum or something? 100 jumps, 80kg jumping a 350 canopy!? -
26 jumps and about to jump a 1.2 wl fully elliptical!
davenuk replied to HendrickVDecken's topic in Gear and Rigging
it sounds like you were hoping people would reinforce your beliefs and you would be happy. have you talked to the CI at your DZ?, mine would laugh in my face i think . -
i saw those before, i think they look quite cool, particularly the mesh to protect the props. we're looking at buying a camera drone for the boy so i'll look forward to the review!

he's absolutely right, the thought has crossed my mind.

Using front risers for penetrating winds
davenuk replied to jheadley's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
necrobump! is there a broad rule of thumb for at what speeds front riser input is going to be useful when trying to get back from a long spot (or is it short spot, you are downwind trying to fly into wind to get to the PLA)? i get that if you are at a standstill, head on wind speed = usual canopy flight speed, then front risers will sacrifice height for forward movement, but at some point between wind = usual canopy flight speed and wind = 0 there must be a point where front risers are detrimental to the goal of maximum distance. is there a ball park like wind > 80% of usual canopy speed? sorry if i've not explained it very well. thanks -
i have absolutely no idea what i'm talking about. but could you compensate with your legs by bringing your heels towards your butt slightly? i assume you are going forward because the legs are too far out? again please see my original statement

this is good, what theyre really saying is more like - "I don't know anything about skydiving apart from I think it is really risky and i'd be way to scared to do it." then you can explain how, whilst it does have it's risks, they're really not as high as you'd think and many risks come down to the attitude of the person involved and with that they should try a tandem skydive. then another one enters the fold, MWUHAHAHAHAHA!.
