  1. 1. Actually, Rob mentioned a Service Bulletin, then Craig quoted a Safety Notice. Two different things, with different likelyhoods of being passed on to skydivers overseas. 2. The Service Bulletin posted earlier is a different one entirely. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 2. Interesting. Actually thats a "Safety Notice", not a "Service Bulletin". This is the Service Bulletin http://www.apf.asn.au/documents/pdf/Service_Bulletins/thomas-sports-equip/tse197.jpg Makes no mention of the "Three bloke test" C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 4. Nothing but unabashed applause from here. Nice to see a manufacturer with the balls to call a schoolyard bully like Fradet out. 7. Well Duh. As it happens, I don't have one of each lying around to check he cards/labels on. Thus the question Again, anyone got an actual online reference I can lookup? C. 11. I'm on the horns of a dilemma. My regular helmet runs HC3s and/or stills. I really like the widescreen I get from the HC3s, but it's just too damn heavy to fun jump, so I'm building up another another rig for everyday use. I tow drouges weekends, and have been using my PC101 for handcam until now, but I'd like to up the product quality with a better camera. I picked up a PC1000 a while back, haven't taken it freefalling yet, but jeeze what a nice camera. The footage I’ve shot on the ground looks great on our big screen, it's natively wide, 3 CMOS, and, well, gorgeous. I've been chasing another one for three months now, but even ebay's slim pickings. I'd like to have a couple of identical cameras and use them for both handcam and on my "fun" helmet. I have the opportunity to pick up a couple of PC350s for a reasonable price, and I know I could shift the 1000. I was thinking of getting another 1000, but I'm not sure that it's built strong enough to use as a handcam longterm. The 350 is stronger, but not natively widescreen. Anyone experienced both and have a strong opinion either way? Should I lose the PC1000 and get 2 PC350’s, or wait and get another PC1000? Thanks Craig. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 12. I chose the title "Cypres 2 Ground Fire." because the report it references mentions a "Cypres 2 Ground Fire". I didn't use the words "fails self test" or "skydivers jump anyway", because the report doesn't mention if the unit failed a self test or if it was jumped. I does however report that it had been switched on for about 4 hours (without mentioning or suggesting a problem with its self test) and that the rig had been repacked about 5 minutes before the Cypres 2 fired on the ground Clear enough? 13. A discussion of the recent Airtec cypres service bulletin which was prompted by this incident, and possibly also this problem, have led to the following being reported on skysurfer.com.au as happening at Toogoolawah two weeks ago. Cypres 2, 18 months old, had been turned on for about 4 hours. Rig had just been repacked and after about 5 minutes the unit fired on the ground. Airtec notified. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 16. They're a little way off (hmm, 12 months should do it?)... but I gotta say, the CD didn't include instructions for those, just prices for top plates when I get that far The only disappointing thing about the whole investment! Fortunately I now know ya phone number Thanx for your help so far, C Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 17. "One of them is quite tight, the other has small amount of play." Which way is the play? Up and down , side to side, or vertical? The curved metal inside flush curved metal design of the cookie has always struck me as pretty damn clever, as has the moving of the compression agent (the o-ring spring) to being not "is the catch in", but "how far is the catch in?" I'm genuinely curious not combative, I'm happy to learn. I think Cookie would be interested too. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 18. I'm yet to see a cookie quick connect with play. That's why I like them over the others. I have a Bonehead helmet worked over by Schumacher, but I don't use either of their quick connect systems. You're a special case as to your access to camera's, most camera jumpers have a choice of "take the XXXX or not" as opposed to "what should I bolt on there" Do you have a cookie with play in it, or are you assuming? Do you know anyone with one where the plate has play in the base? Bogen etc may work for you, but my stroboframes are getting swapped out, due to excess play. Any actual data to stop me from giving Cookie my hard earned? C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 19. I'm yet to see or hear of any of the three letting go and causing someone to lose their gear. I've tried a number of others, and would by a Cookie today if I needed another. My Manfrottos may double lock, but the bases don't sit flush. Cookie's do. YMMV. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day... 20. Everytime an exceptional skydiver waits until s/he has cracked he minimums before trying something new and survives it, we hear nothing, and they and we move on. Everytime an exceptional skydiver shortcuts the minimums and is hurt, maimed or killed, we sigh and move on, and all to often they're left behind. Dead or maimed. Minimums are for all of us. C. 21. Actually Matt, I respectfully beg to differ. If you park yourself 18 inches out from and 24 inches below a tandem, you have to think harder to adjust the paralex of (up to) 9 inches between the ring sight and the lense of a top mouted PC series, than the 2-4" between the ring site and lense of a side mount. Horses for courses. I site a long way out, but adjust accordingly up real close. C. Brother Wayward's rule of the day...
