I have maybe 50 or so on the reline. I didn't do anything to it during my downtime less leave it in the closet unpacked. I think I will take it in to a rigger to get checked.

Since I came back, 1st jump fine, last 3 have been hard openings...the first one was really hard. I had never had a hard opening before including 100 jumps or so on this canopy.

I took about a 6 month break from the sport and recently came back. My first jump back which I packed was fine, the 2nd bam, seeing stars and car crash like bruising anywhere the harness touched me. I thought I either forgot how to pack or didn't slow down from freefly to belly long enough. Next jump a week or 2 later, a similar but less painful hard opening after taking more time to pack and slowing down a lot longer from freefly to belly. I then decided I suck at packing (admittedly I have always been a crappy packer) and paid for a pack job, it was a belly jump doing camera for a tandem and 3rd time in a row a slammer that left bruising on my thighs. I watched video of all 3 and my body position seems fine. I fly a larger canopy, Safire2 149 at about a 1.3 WL with maybe 50 jumps on a new lineset. I am starting to consider I may have something going on with my canopy or slider. Any recommendations of what to check for? I searched through a lot of hard opening related threads but couldn't locate an answer of what to do to try and eliminate repeated hard openings. Thanks.

I am traveling to BA and Santiago tomorrow. Does anyone know if there are DZ near either that will rent gear to a licensed skydiver to do a couple jumps? I don't feel like lugging my gear around while traveling about. Thanks.

I am going to Celaya for work next week and was looking to make a jump while there. Does anyone happen to know if this DZ is open through the week (Wednesday or Thursday)? Also, do they have rental gear? I don't want to check a bag to bring my rig along. Thanks.

Thanks I will check it out.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any organized balloon jumps upcoming on the East Coast (I am in NC)? It is on my "skydiving bucket list". Thanks.

Hey, I got my shortie suit after 3.5 months and unfortunately I think it is too baggy/long. How far below the knees do y'alls shortie suits fall without a rig on? Is the shorts part of the suit sort of baggy? I am thinking the fit is more like cargo shorts I used to wear in middle school rather than my tight pegged khakis I wear now. Thanks for any help and if you have a picture with the suit on without a rig, that would be amazing.

My rig is covered by my renters insurance while traveling. I have discussed with my insurance provider to make sure of this.

I like my VISO a lot and have never done a jump with anything but a digital. I used one in AFF so I am partial to it. With that said, I have noticed quite a few people at my DZ rocking duals (analog and digital) lately.

Can you post a pic please? I am thinking of going with the same setup and want to see how it turned out. Thanks.

I like my Infinity for the following reasons: quick turnaround, they look smaller/sleeker to me than other containers with the same size mains/reserves, top notch customer service. The only negative for me I can think of is they tend to hold wrinkles more than other rigs so you have to make sure to get those out when packing (not an issue if you pack well). I will not buy anything else going forward solely due to the great customer service I received on my first container purchase.

AFF student sudden fear of skydiving
cebra replied to MAD1210's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had the same thing when I was a student and think it is pretty common, the longer the break the more nervous you get. I just jumped and as soon as I hit the air, it was old hat again and made many more jumps the same day. Heck, I am still slightly nervous on my first load after an extended break (did I turn on my aad, i wonder how crappy i packed this, etc). -
I actually found rental gear to be much more comfortable due to the amount of use vs when I first got my new gear which was quite stiff for awhile. It helps in comfort if you twist the pad part between your legs out toward your hip before cinching it down.

Newbie first rig. Container advise, pah-lease!
cebra replied to garyhugo's topic in Gear and Rigging
One thing to note is that different manufacturers come standard with different things (i.e. Javelin is standard with stainless hardware while it is an upgrade on Infinity). Build exactly what you want and compare prices then. I went with articulation and stainless on my Infinity for my first rig. I highly recommend used main and reserve as you can get one with no rides for 2/3 the price and let someone else take the depreciation hit. AAD doesn't matter used or new as they depreciate a set amount per year. I got a new container because I have a long torso and broad shoulders for my weight. I would highly recommend a used container first if you can find one that fits, I love mine but I wish I had been able to go used first and then get a new one for my 2nd container. Side note: Pilot ZPX 190 doesn't pack down as well as a Pulse 190 and my container is fit for up to a standard ZP 170 canopy. The packers have a heck of a time getting my 1,000 jump Pulse 190 to fit in the container.
