  1. Sorry for the late reply! Wish I could have made it to the Boogie this weekend! work-1 jumping-0 I will be out at deland next Saturday for some fun jumps and working on A license. These cooler temps are nice!! Hope to see you there.
  2. It is by only about 10-20 mins difference. I don't mind making the drive. Finished AFF today and made my first solo jump. Once I earn my A license I will check out other DZs. But I think my home will be deland.
  3. Finishing up AFF at Deland this week. Completely addicted to the sport, it is consuming me already. I'm a air traffic controller in the US Navy for 8 years. Looking forward to meeting new people and would eventually like to get into freefly. -James
  4. I will be completing my level 7 jump at deland on Monday. The whole AFF course has been awesome! Lots of instruction and from 3-4 different instructors which IMO it's better to learn from many people. I live in jacksonville so it is a little further away but I don't mind. After I get my A license I will check out other DZs around Florida and south GA. Like others have said great DZ, gear shop, food, vibe. Jumping out of the skyvan is a huge plus too. Good luck and blue sky's!
  5. Hawks vs pens. Hawks take it home in 7.
  6. Thanks for the input guys. Just a curiosity question more than anything, I plan to jump DZ gear for quite some time.
  7. New to the sport just finishing up AFF and just to set this straight, in no way am I thinking about downsizing yet but just trying to wrap my mind around it a little more. Are there big differences in canopies if you go from say 280 to 260. I calculated wingloading and the difference is very small. I'm sure it would fly a little faster but were only talking .0x in difference. The reason I ask I was looking at containers online and some only hold up a 250-260 and would like to get my own rig someday. Thanks in advance
