  1. Ron, I thinks it might be awhile. The current government will just keep bailing us out as long as it can. Businesses will keep charging us premiums with the hopes of keeping the dream alive until the market can't handle it anymore. It's gonna take a long time - probably after we're both dead. . .but your words are the ones that will survive. My attempts at compromise are futile. Stay Strong. 3. You didn't post any FACTS. What would a person with imaginary friends know about facts? Sez the guy who thinks his white skin is a "force field" You were the one that brought up Chicago. Quit deflecting. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

  6. ...but you're not listening to her needs. I don't mean to argue with you, but I suppose it in my nature. She is editing files from old SD VHS footage that have been transferred to DVD. It would be nice if her VHS footage was converted to mpeg3 (or some other editable format) and then transferred as mere data to DVD. ( similar to how you'd transfer data to any other storage device like a hard drive or USB thumb drive) But the odds are that her SD VHS footage was saved in a hurry to a real time dvd recorder in a format that's typically not acceptable in NLEs. Divicini's own support site say that it has trouble with VOB and other compressed DVD formats - hell, it says it will even have trouble with mp4, AVI, and MOV without converting it first - wtf is that? Ya, and it's still overpriced POS software that apparently can't even support the most common formats today, let alone VHS SD off a DVD. Ya, well she's dealing with SD VHS - good old 720x480. Ya, interesting that it will convert to those files for $900, but won't read them - what a joke. ...and you're absolutely right. Dvd format and H.264, mp4s are highly compressed, but even today's standard computers can hadle it. But still, you're right - if you're doing some serious composition/editing/color correction with HD footage, yes - you want to convert it to Pro Res or some other 4:4:4 color sampling - even 4:2:2 is acceptable. . . 4:1:1 for SD. The issue is that her footage is probably already highly compressed - there will be no advantage of wasting the time to convert, then taking the time to color correct and then wasting the extra time to render for results that will be virtually unnoticeable - and possibly even degrade the footage even further. 8. Ya, well apparently you don't know wtf you are - you pissed pissed when I call you a conservative - you get pissed when I call you liberal. Walks like a duck - talks like a duck, you're a duck. You crossed the line. So the fact that YOU require a label on people to talk to them is MY issue, got it. I crossed no line, simply responding to your posting habit. Hopefully you enjoy your vacation. Again. Out. There will be no vacation. You attacked me in one of the worst ways. If anyone needs a vacation it's you - at least until you can figure out how to respond to the content of my post without calling me a racist - what a load of bullshit. I expect an apology. . . 10. That's a goddamned PA and I won't tolerate it motherfucker. How about using your brain for once and addressing the issue instead of shitting out a bunch of ad hom bullshit like a typical liberal. Fuck you. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  11. Ya, you have to wonder if all those successful black families in Kallend's neighborhood were listed in the Book of Negroes where he granted them a certificate of freedom. Maybe Obama was granted a Meritorious manumission in Hyde Park that gave him the leverage to become president - those poor negroes don't have the ability to make it on their own these days, you know - especially in the free world. . . 12. Yes you are. You're not only ignoring reality, but also my response to that same "white privilege" article that John already posted in the other thread linked below: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4818905;search_string=bullshit;#4818905 Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  13. Ya, good stuff. It's a part of the Intuit family - Quicken, Turbo Tax, QuickBooks, all that - they're into it all. I personally love the budgeting software. Once you link your accounts it's able to categorize your spending. It even has options to input data for cash spending. After the first month, I was bombarded with all these charts on my spending habits - it was awesome. I couldn't believe how much I spent on all these unnecessary/trivial purchases. It showed how quickly a dollar here and a dollar there really added up. $500 on coffee and donuts a month!? Really? Are you fucking kidding me? It's an awesome budgeting tool with features that will help you save thousands. ...oh ya, and you can pay your bills too. I recommend the program a lot, but the biggest objection is security and giving this company your account info and spending habits - but these are the same people that have no problem giving their credit info to buy something - most of them give Intuit their financial info for online taxes anyway. My brother in law is one of the heads of security for Quicken. I don't doubt their security, but I asked him if he could access my account. He said the only way would be to coordinate info with the heads of multiple departments housed around the country. No one individual within the company has the ability to access someone's account. To even attempt it, would trigger a red flag just like any other hack. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  14. ...and a good place to start limiting those 20,000+ suicides is with better parenting, and reducing depression - and the psychotropic drugs used to treat it in a dangerously capitalistic society. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  15. Well then allow me complicate the facts with reality. The reality is that there are a hell of a lot more white people, and thus, a helluva a lot more crazy ass white people that kill - but they're spread out over a much larger area throughout the entire country. The reality is that you're much less likely to be shot in white rural/suburban areas than you are in black inner-city/urban areas - dependent of course on equal frequency in those areas. It's cute how you guys are so quick you shove rates of U.S gun violence in everyone's face when it fits your narrative, but then ignore them when it doesn't. 16. What a load of bullshit. I think it's cute that you guys are trying to make it out to look like you're from the hood. (snicker) He's talking about Howard St. in Roger's Park on the north side that has about 3 homicides per year, but then posts a picture of 73rd St on the south side - probably from Englewood that has about 80 murders per year - what a joke. The majority of crime on Howard St. is property crime against that colorful marketplace of dollar stores, chicken shacks, West Indian restaurants, Arab-owned groceries and hip-hop sneaker shops that he was talking about. The murder he was referring to was the one where a gang member shot into a convenience store at 3 other gang members, killing one and wounding the others. What if McClelland was in that convenience store at that same time? Do you really think a stray bullet would give a shit about his "white privilege" ...but what if it isn't even gang related? What if it is just a desperate drug addict looking for his next jumbo? Do you think he's more likely to victimize a black kid in a hoodie with nothing more than a pack of skittles, or McClelland walking the streets at 1am with his geeky glasses and fancy watch? The fact is, is that there are a hell of a lot more blacks and Hispanics walking around the dangerous parts of Chicago that don't get shot, so his entire premise is just dumb - and those that buy his bullshit are equally dumb, if not dumber. I'm ashamed that he's a fellow MSU Alumnus. Ya, you live on the south side, but in Beverly, where the median income is 90k a year. It's one one the safest places in Chicago, and in the top 5 neighborhoods with the highest quality of life - you shouldn't be ashamed of that, nor should you be surprised that you encounter less crime then those in Garfield. Beverly is a relatively integrated neighborhood, it's similar to Hyde Park that is even more integrated - but everyone gets along. You don't have trouble with cops, nor do you have a problem with blacks killing each other over there. Do you think the black families in those areas let their children roam the streets of Chicago at 3am? Do you think there is a "violence inequality" issue in those areas as well? (whatever the fuck that means?) Now you may say, "hey, you just wait a minute there buddy - I've worked in Douglas for 30+ plus years, I'm practically an OG!" Ya, but the block or two that you've walked from 31st down State St. doesn't really have any crime, regardless of race - so you're not that special. Your white skin isn't a "force field," it isn't "bulletproof." Your "white privilege" doesn't mean shit in the face of someone looking for their next fix. If there is anything good that can come from this article, it's that it has shown me how isolated the violence really is - and that the vast majority of the country is just as safe as anywhere else in the cilvilised world, if not safer. We have contained the problem - now we have to attack it. ...but we don't attack it by forcing these poor black people to buy 5000 dollar safes - that will just give us an excuse to put more blacks behind bars that simply feel the need to protect themselves. It will only leave more children fatherless and exacerbate the problem. All we have to do is look to the black families in neighborhoods like Beverly and Hyde Park - they are educated. They have jobs. They don't let their children walk the streets at 3am - 'nuff said. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

  18. exactly...but if they're black, it's racism! If they're female, it's sexism! Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  19. Ummm, surely if those women were in management positions then you were subordinate... Just because some is your subordinate doesn't mean you should lord it over them. I've always treated my employees as business partners. Even during my management positions in my early twenties I knew this - and always tried to lead by example. If they fell behind, I picked up the slack. If they weren't doing their job, I'd do it for them and hope that I built enough respect for them to take notice - and they did. I never had to reprimand nor fire anyone. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  20. Black woman are disproportionately killed when it comes to domestic homicides - should that anger be directed toward the man as well? ...and the FACT that he's considered part of the majority does not decrease it's value, but try telling that to people like Jakee. That also holds true against those falsely using racism/sexism to gain an edge in obtaining something they didn't earn. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour
  21. In my teenage years growing up in the inner city, black security guards would follow us throughout the store - and at times would even take us to the backroom to search us. I didn't get to blame the man or shout racism! Or sexism! - nor would I. The fact is that inner cities with higher levels of poverty have higher rates of theft. Everyone is a suspect, especially those between the ages of 13-25 since they commit the majority of crime. The numbers seem disproportionate because the majority of blacks live in these poverty stricken areas where there is a higher level of suspicion overall, regardless of race or ethnicity. Now I'm not saying that racism/sexism doesn't exist - but the victims with legitimate cases are the ones that tend to suffer when you have so many people crying wolf. I don't doubt your personal experience with this, but I've heard far more instances of women treating other women unfairly in the workplace. In the corporate world, new younger female management will treat older female subordinates with disdain. In the lower wage food/service industry, female management seems to hold other females at a higher standard. It seems women are more comfortable disrespecting other women than they are men. No, they don't have to listen quietly - people like Sulique and Darius have no problem voicing their opinions and defending their faith - and if you go back and look through those threads, you'd see that the majority of crap they received came from conservative atheists - but at least they're consistent, unlike the some liberals that displayed their typical double standard when it comes to Islam vs.Christianity. That's fine - and if there is a legitimate case of discrimination, they should be compensated accordingly - but I think there are far too many instances where people are simply using it as an excuse to take advantage of the system. 22. This is one of the issues I have when it comes to our country's lax enforcement of gun laws. Here is an instance where a black woman finally built up the courage to report her husband after he kicked her, punched their 8 year old son and then threaten to shoot her with the same gun that was presumably recovered at the scene of the police shooting. After she was granted the restraining order, her husband was also ordered to relinquish the illegally owed firearm. wtf? I mean really? Black women represent only 8% of the population yet account for nearly 30% of all domestic homicides. This risk dramatically increases when there have been prior threats, such as in this case. The police should've arrested this POS and confiscated his 9mm, especially since it was illegally owned. If they did, then none of this probably would've ever happened - but instead, they just ask him nicely to turn it in - what a joke. In the end tho, it's probably a good thing that the cops got his ass before he shot up his family. You have to remember the level of funding that supports most police stations and courts. Most 911 centers are on shoestring budgets and don't even have something on par with a single smart phone to send or receive location data. Just because she filed it doesn't mean it would get into someone's hands who actually looked at it twice. I presume she went to the court to ask for the restraining order and when she cancelled it a week later that was the end of it. One of the reasons black women are over represented when it comes to domestic homicide is because of their reluctance to report prior abuse - but regardless, there was still an order for him to turn in the illegal weapon - so it WAS looked at twice. The police should have been ordered to confiscate the gun, not just for her safety and that of the public - but who knows if that gun could've been used to solve other homicides. The lack of a budget is a lame excuse - these things should be a priority. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

  25. Ya, I was addressing yoink that insists that we don't care about gun violence and do nothing about it. I didn't say that gun crime wasn't a big deal. I have no problem with laws against murder. This is all beside the point tho - in general, my stance against abortion isn't to advocate for laws against it, but to promote negative public opinion with the hope that it's lack of popularity would encourage women to choose life. Likewise, stigmatizing gun crime and murder is a good thing, especially in areas when it's looked upon as a rite of passage - but that's not what boink was doing.
