  1. ok, I am adding up the weight of my rig here using shipping weights given on gear store websites:

    Silhouette 150: 8 lbs
    Tempo 150: 7 lbs
    Cypres: 1.5 lbs

But I don't know how much my container weighs. It is an Infinity designed to fit the above canopies. It isn't articulated, it has mini rings, and a standard D style reserve handle. Oh, and it's BOC. Anyone know approximately what this would weigh?

  2. edit to say: pilot dave posted the same thing while I was typing this.

    oh well.

There's no such thing as centrifugal force. It's just something that people make up to help them understand centripital force:P.

If you think about it, this is true. What could possibly be pulling you away from the canopy when you are spinning? nothing. You body has the tendancy to travel in a line perpendicular to the direction of centripital force. This causes the feeling of a downward force (centrifugal) that isn't actrually there:)

Actually, it was invented by a Canadian in the US, Springfield, Mass to be more exact.

Alright I knew that but being invented by a Canuk is good enough for me:)

You're right there but he did invent it in Canada:P.

Ya, those are both correct. Don't know why they were on the list:S.

Canadians pushed the Americans back...past their 'White House'. Then we burned it...and most of Washington, under the command of William Lyon MaKenzie King who was insane and hammered all the time. We got bored because they ran away, so we came home and partied...Go figure.

  5. Double fronts has worked for me before. The winds were strong but steady (not gusting). In full flight I was coming straight down above a fence and was at about 100'. I applied some front riser pressure (only pulled 2-3") and moved about 10-15' past the fence. I released the front risers by about 50' and landed safely (not on the fence). I jump a silhouette 150 loaded at 1.1

  6. I am very light and fall slow (150lbs, 6'2"). When it comes to breakoff time, my track is usually flatter than other peoples and I can see everybody below me. This way I can make sure that I have enough seperation from everyone just by looking down and behind.

However, some of the other skydivers on these jumps have expressed concern because they can't see me easily. Should I try to track more at their level, or not worry about it? I guess they might feel nervous because they are putting more trust in me if I am above but what do you think?

  7. I jump a Sil 150 and have just over 100 jumps on it. The only other canopies that I have jumped are the Sabre and Sabre 2.

I bought the Sil used and it had about 50 jumps on it at the time. I load this canopy at 1.13:1 (about what you are planning)and it flies nicely providing fast turns and soft landings. I am still happy with this canopy and will probably keep it for about 100 more jumps before I downsize.

Retail value may be an issue but I bought it used so it was cheap to start with. Let us know what you decide:)

How long did your suit take(just wondering what delivery time is)?

You can order it rushed (15 working days) for $30 extra. Mine arrived at my door exactly on 15 days. I think they had it done in about 10 days:o.

Regular wait time is about 8 weeks. I had to get it rushed so I could have it for Florida next monthB|.

Awesome! Now, your next rig should look like this.

Sweet! When I do buy a new rig it will look something like that for sure. I bought this one used a while ago so I didn't have much choice;).

So, when Do you get to try it out?

Well, thats the part that kinda sucks. I am in Canada and our last weekend of jumping for the year has just passed :((the DZO has gone to California). However, I will be going to Florida to do some jumping around Christmas time:)

  11. Went to the DZ last saturday along with 4 other skydivers. Low clouds all day so we did H+Ps. Its the end of the season in Canada and we don't get much good weather in November so we all really wanted to jump no matter what. Altitudes ranged from 2800' to 4000' and we had a blastB|.

The other good thing about H+Ps especially on a cessna DZ is the short climb to altitude. We took off, jumped, packed and took off again inside 1/2hr:o. Where regular turnaround times for the plane to 12000' at our DZ are 1/2hr:S.

Hey....I'm gonna be there! I'm coming all the way from London, On, CanadaB|. I sure hope its warmer in Tecumseh....its like 3hrs south:P. Seriously though, I can't wait.

  13. My reserve is due for a repack within the next month. So, I am going to do an intentional cutaway(with a belly reserve just in case) within a couple of weeks. I think it is a good idea to experience a cutaway, although it would be different in an actual emergency. Also, my reserve has never been used, and I would like to see how it flies before I need it in an emergency.
