  1. Hey, I knew someone would say that. But ya know what? It looks sunny and nice but since I am in CANADA, its still not too warm out. Our skydiving season is just getting underway.;)

  2. Wen't to the mud run today. I think it was a great way to spend Good Friday!

This place near Tillsonburg Ontario opens twice a year to trucks. There were over 300 trucks entered in the one day event and there were thousands of spectators to watch it all. Mud is fun!

    Check out the pictures:
1st pic: Some of our trucks before the mud
2nd pic: More of our trucks before
3rd pic: One of our trucs after
4th pic: Dang this is some deep mud
    5th pic: Sweet drag machine

  3. -Large door wherever it is
-High horizontal stabilizer to allow safe exits even with a premature deployment
    -Fast climb
-Fast descent (think straight down like a porter or mullins plane)
-Low jumprun speed with low risk of a stall
    -Good fuel economy
    -Low maintenance/cheaper maintenance
-Comfy interior (like a skyvan but not as loud or with as much vibration)

Thats all I can think of for now.

  4. I'm sorry Cheryl if I or anyone else have upset you. I really did not mean to make a big deal out of anything:(.

But the fact remains that Cathy made this post on a public forum. If she didn't want replies then it shouldn't have been posted here at all. Right[:/]?

Its good to hear that you think everythign will be ok:)

You can find people with an E, however, when the licenses became harder to get, the E was tossed.

There are 2 E licenses at our DZ. E-8 and E-11. Only 13 people ever got this license.

Oh, and I know this is picky but the licenses in Canada are actually called Certificates of Proficiency, or CoPs;).

  6. Wow! I don't know who to respond to because you all have excellent ideas.:)
We have only been able to locate a few experienced skydivers but they don't join our club because of they way it is mainly set up for first timers. You people have great ideas on how to keep everyone interested. Also, I think more advertising is an excellent idea, and a website is something we definately need.

    Keep the ideas coming!!B|

The main is included; it has to support its own weight, after all.

I see what you are saying about the chute carrying its own weight, however, the weight that matters in wingloading of a chute - that is the weight that affects the performance - is the suspended weight right? The suspended weight (you and rig minus main) is what affects turn rate and dive of the canopy. Sooo even though we are only talking about 6 or so pounds, I think that the effective wingloading should not technically include the main. Does this make sense?

The hardest thing about keeping a club going is finding capable people to take the place of those officers who graduate.

Apparently thats why our club went bye bye a bunch of years ago. Someone brought it back only a few years ago. I am already worried about this happening again and the last or our execs won't graduate for about 3 more years.

  9. Ok, here's the deal:

I go to the University of Western Ontario Located in London, Onario. I am one of the Skydiving Club execs there as well:)
The clubs members pay a dues fee of $20 at the beginning of the year to join and get a good deal on their first jump out of it. We do most of these jumps in the fall (our season ends in November) and we never see these club members again:S.

I want our club to be more than just that but am wondering if there are any ideas on how to make it better. As it sits now, taking ppl for the first jump is all we do.

BTW, our school has a population of over 30 000 so there are definately enough ppl to support a decent club.

Any ideas??? What do other clubs do??

Set the Wayback machine to 1999. We're going to the auto show. I figure 5 years is more than enough time to go from concept to reality.

Ok, so how many of these cars were ever actually manufactured?

I see at least 12 of those cars that made it into production. Some others are set to debut in one or two more years. Also, some of those cars were designed for the euro market and I don't know what they have over there....some of them may be in production too.

  11. Yes, SOBE is now owed or managed or whatever by the same guy who manages Skydive Techumseh (Ron Palowski or something like that:S). He is an awesome person and is very accomodating to all newcomers to his DZ:)
    Clay,

The ride to altitude in Tecumseh is extremely quick. Either they have the fastest Otter anywhere or the most badass pilot around (probably both)B|.

I am just learning freeflying but from what I can tell, the freefly scene is great, and the swooping skill there is impressive too:o.

The nightlife is also very cool, and the people are very nice:)
This was quite the rant but no, Techumseh is not my home DZ:(. I am in Canada and Tecumseh is a 3hr drive but very worth itB|!

Then again ours has an aerator in it

Does this "aerator" have blond hair and drive a Land Rover? :D

LMAO:D!! I know who you're talking about ... I did a couple jumps with him during my visit to Z-hills this year.

Back on the subject of the thread though. I am in CANADA and fortunate enough to not have this show on my TV;).

It's funny how fast a canopy can change from high performance to intermediate.

It's only been two weeks since the launch of the Katana and already the Stiletto and XF2 are considered "intermediate".

They are NOT!!! They are still HIGH performing parachutes!

Just to clear this up, I believe skydivingdutch called a Stiletto intermediary, not intermediate. As in a stepping stone to a Katana. As in lower performance than a Katana but more than a Sabre.;)

Anyways, I have no advice to offer as I don't have enough jumps to offer it. I just wanted to make sure someone wasn't getting burned for something they didn't do:)

  14. Nice jumpB|! Glen visited the Bend last year one weekend and from what I can tell, he is an awesome guy, and a badass freeflyer.

I think I am going to try to get on my head this summer too, and seeing that video gave me some encouragement:)

Mine says 6.5 lbs... Probably close to the same size as yours.

Thanks, I figured that would be about right:)
    Quote

If you aren't interested in accuracy, then just say 20 lbs or so.

I was just wondering how much the container weighed, not the whole rig;). Also, I can't seem to find shipping weights for containers anywhere, I con only find the weights of canopies and other things.
