Before the name came out CNN was reporting that, because the attack was on a government group, it appeared to be a right wing militia group. Fucking idiots at CNN did it to themselves again Not necessarily wrong, if they turn out to have religous motives they would be considered conservative/right-leaning. ;)

Even if i in some sense share your opinions about religion there is a little big easier to grasp reason these thing are able to happen. These are people who have pretty much been born and raised in war. Everything in thier life has been circled around it, we can talk about how a soldier cant recover from being out on the field for months or a few years, imagine growing up in it as a kid all the way till you're grown up (if you ever get to grow up) with people close to you dying in war or are just victims of the people fighting the war. Combine that with a bunch of leaders with the mentality of Trump times 10 and you got yourself a army of people who will do anything to retaliate on the people they've been told are responsible for thier situation. The religion is a motivational tool used to gather around, like patriotism without a country.

If you want to make an analysis on the dangers of X, lets say cars, it would be pretty useless without taking accidents into account. They are still a result of X.

Looks great when you compare to contries like Honduras, great goals. When you look at the current list of homicides per capita you will also see that the US is in level of many African countries that are in Civil war, same level as Albania which is basicly controlled by criminals. Other western countries are pretty much all found at 1.0 or lower.
