  1. Hi :) You already answered your question.

At first, students are only told basics and mandatory safety instructions. If not, the amount of informations would be too huge and students coulds loose focus on primary things to keep in mind.

I think there's no way you'd annoy people by asking questions. It will demonstrate you dig in safety and progress which is a very good thing with students (you know, some saw freefly, wingsuit, mister bills and whatever looks cool and want to do it because they feel ready)

Just learn step by step. Is your DZ organizing events for rookies ? teaching some basic canopy piloting lessons, jump run understanding, how to plan a tracking jump, and so on ? I did learn a lot in these little classes.

Internet is also a great source of information even if you CANNOT rely on it like the messiah's parole. Always actualy ask some instructors / experts at your DZ even if you don't have doubts about new knowledge you got.

Welcome in the sky dude :) stay safe and blue skies ;)

Ok it seems that there is no answer for this question on the Internet...till now :D
No problem with mounting, only slight difference between helmet and flatlock curves, perfectly steady.

My savior :') What flatlock adaptator did you use ? The Fuel or G3 version ?

I was thinking about getting a custom composite plate made for my Speed (similar to one I saw here on an orange Fuel helmet)

  3. I received mines (after being litteraly robbed by the customs) These are very cool and as efficient as expected.

The only con is that it doesn't work with the Session mount (the end nut of the mount seams to be sealed on the mount and I didn't manage to get it out in order to replace it by the schier clamp. Fortunately, I still have some GoPro 3 mounts that work just fine :)

  4. waiting for mines to pass the Europe customs :D

But it's not a snag free mount (even if it's slightly better than the stock thumb screws) The real advantage of the Schier clamp is that your can set the angle of your GoPro very quickly and have it truly locked without the need of a screwdriver.

Pick NTSC/60FPS. 24/25P makes action look blurry.

That does not answer the question. PAL 50fps or NTSC 60fps are quite similar and I agree on the fact that 24/30fps looks less fluid than 50/60fps

If you plan to only use it on youtube or for yourself on a computer, no matter what you use, it'll work. By default, I'd use the NTSC setting because it has a slighly better frame rate than the PAL one and all computers or youtube can read it.

  6. Hi everyone. I didn't saw this part of the forum before posting elsewhere :D

So, I'm Dos a recent skydiver (2 years in the sport and 230 jumps as I write these lines) living in Belgium. I have a great interrest in freefly, angle jumps, canopy piloting and of course farting in the plane !

    Cheers all

And may the beerline be crossed many more time to quench my thirst !

PS. English is not my mother tongue but I think my posts are writen in a quite decent grammar. Well... It's understandable tho

PS 2. Here's my ugly mug

  7. You'll definitely need a freefly friendly rig as it will be exposed in the relative wind.

I think it's better to learn back flying, then sit flying and practice a lot ! In my point of view, freestyle is the ultimate static discipline incorporating "basic head up positions" + a great range of other ones.

IMO, the best way to get there is to get tunnel hours behind you.

I could be wrong as my experience is very limited (I'm currently getting experience in HU flying. Sky and Tunnel) but it's the long way to the top if you wanna rock'n roll :D

  8. Thanks :) I will still wait here for an answer as I got no satisfaction in the answers of chuting star and basik.fr

None of them seemed to have tried this before. I'll compare the curves of the speed to the ones of my G3. If they are similar enough, the adaptor could do ! I also found other solutions to get a flat surface on top of the helmet like this one which have an adjustable angle : http://www.chutingstar.com/skydive/helmets/helmet-camera-mounts/evo-tilting-top-mount

  9. Hi there. I'm currently using a Tonfly Speed with a simple adhesive GoPro mount on the front and I think about "getting more serious" about shooting videos.

I'd like to modify the helmet to get a flat mount on top but I don't know how to deal with that. I saw the cookie flat lock which seems pretty nice but I don't know if it would work on the curves of my helmet. ( http://www.flycookie.com/news/2015/6/10/fuel-flat-lock-adapter-now-available/ )

Have someone ever tried this or have any other solution ? The goal is to screw a cam on top and preferably having it easily removable.

    - a video noobie in the sport :D

  10. Thanks for the info. I didn't think about that. I just downsized from my Stiletto 150 to a 135 one and had great openings then a 360° turn after complete deployement (which I didn't have with the 150 in my previous rig).

The new rig has a D-bag with almost all sorts of stows on it too. I'll replace them all and try it next weekend. (will have the line trim inspected too)
