  1. My roomies and I were talking about this yesterday. Living in the Los Angeles area, the main thing is earthquakes. Or maybe the periodic forest fires, they got pretty close last time. But then the question was, say there's a huge earthquake, which is gonna happen eventually. Say something happened, or is going to happen, and you have to leave, now. Evacuate. And it's going to be awhile before you can go home. Where do you go? We're all in school, with family on the east coast and up and down the west coast but pretty much no one in between.. So - get in the car and drive back cross country? Hope whatever the disaster is is localized enough that family in San Luis Obispo is far enough away? Just go to whatever shelters they have set up? Grab a tent and go camping for awhile (not gonna work for long)? -- I think we decided that we hope nothing happens, at least while we're here. Oh, and that we need to set up an emergency-preparedness-type kit.
  2. I'd like to re-emphasize -- check out the LO's at Perris. Go to manifest, ask for them, they'll direct you. Those guys are great, and their goal (one of their goals, other than just having fun) is to get new folks jumping with other people. Cause doing lots of solos just sucks.. and isn't that great for learning, either Also, depending on how many LO's there are that day and how busy it is.. and how your freefall skills are.. they'll break the group into very small loads -- 2-ways or 3-ways -- which are great for working on skills. (tip: best for that is first thing in the morning) Totally, get with these guys! (at least if you want to practice belly flying. and it's probably a good idea to get good at belly flying before going too far over to the dark side -- but take that with a huge grain of salt, since it's total hearsay, I don't really know) Oh, and if you're gonna be out at Perris on a weekend after the beginning of June (I'm travelling before that), and want to jump (belly), lemme know!
  3. we were playing with a new toy; digital camera. with lots of fun settings. I was gonna put a pic that's like in nightvision -- all green and washed out -- but decided not to; this'll do
  4. scratch -- aaah, I see; makes sense. good luck with it! skystorm -- I've been told many times the first week or so is the worst (several friend quit recently), and these guys seem to back that up -- stick in there, you'll get through it!
  5. hey scratch -- why december 1st?
  6. Let's see... mom is african american, I don't know any more specifically; daddy's half welsh-irish, half other stuff -- which I also don't know; some native american, some german, some other things i'm a mutt

    phobia

I don't really mind most bugs and snakes and whatnot -- normal phobia stuff -- but I do have a big problem with needles -- I can deal with getting a shot, but I tried to give blood once -- nope. not a chance. I freak out when they put the cuff thing on my arm to get a vein *shudders*
  9. Yep, I'll have to do that -- always up for a road trip!!
  10. This does get you hooked -- No, I didn't make it out during JFTC; I was on a frikkin research trip the whole time. I was there a couple of weekends beforehand, so I did see lots of pink jumpsuits practicing
  11. Sure thing! um.. eventually. the only ones I know of are in my boyfriend's campus account, so I'm gonna have to get him to post them somewhere first. be patient ..
