  1. True. Ah well, four downsizes is asking a bit too much, but it still gets three excellent sizes into the container. Beats two. Drat, that always catches me out. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  2. Not sure I can make it. Need to be in a Europe through March. Hopefully will be able to figure out a way to do both but does anyone know if the PIA is in Europe this year? Or i it in the States? I really dont want to mis the PIA. Shame about this expo really, I always had an idea to do a expo in the UK at one of the UKS boogies, where we get all the manufacturers to come over, as they already do and more are keen to, and have a section that is dedicated like a PIA where they can show all their new toys off, just like the PIA but with it being a bit different where there is planes taking people up to try out all these cool new toys before they go onto the market. It seems like this Expo is very similar to what I am talking about? Would love to be at this event. May just have to come as I have to buy a lot of stock to take to the UK anyway, so maybe it can be a business expense? Does anyone know if all the manufacturers are going, is there a list or is it just the Florida bunch and a few others? Does anyone know how big this is expected to be? it is the first time right? Who is organizing it? If anything, I just want to come and meet those of you I have not met during my trips to the states. Also, if someone can put me in touch with a person who organizes this sort of thing as we have a beautiful winery dropzone here in Australia and would love to get something like this happening here. I mean, A winery with a international concert stage, a massive cask hall and planes and a swoop lake. Perfect place to set up one of these types of events for the Asia and Australasia jumpers. Please get in touch if you are the type of person who can help in making something like this happen in Australia as we would like to make it happen. We have an Australian skydiving forum that would also et behind it. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  3. To be honest, I am waiting for my homie Attila to get back from his holiday and get back to NZAerosports so that I can talk to him about what his personal opinion is, his and Jyros. I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe i should not come and post what he says to me but I would like to know their stance on it, personally and professionally. Bear in mind, hey dont make the Icarus reserve and did not design it, they hardly ever sell it either, but I think they can ask Icarus for me. Also, I am pretty certain that with this being dropzone.com it should not be long until a Icarus rep is here to say their formal opinion on it, which I am looking forward to. At the moment it seems a guy like myself who is only out of shape, not fat, just out of shape, can not jump any of their reserves below something like a 169 if i remember correctly from their chart. What this says to me, as much as I LOVE Icarus canopies with all my heart, it says that their reserve is more a 'just for the sake of having a reserve in their line' than having a reserve that is practical and stands up to modern container sizing. However, their canopiesdo have a low pack volume but im not sure how much, so maybe if it packs like a PDR143 then I could put it in a container that will take at smallest a safire 129 on a loose basis. Just does not seem practical and really makes me ask, why even bother making the smaller sizes as a Icarus 129 reserve can not be jumped by anyone who weighs more than 65kgs naked. A 119 can not be jumped by even a midget. So why make them? This is by no means a rant on Icarus, I love Icarus, I have always jumped Icarus. Icarus gave me courage under canopy and kept me in the sport back when i needed it most. I hope they see it as a mature question, topic, rather than, 'how do we shut this guy the fuck up? lol. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  4. OK, so a while ago we did a thread called Micron V308, is it the perfect container for a experienced jumper. That container would take a optimum 143 reserve and a safire 129 main and go all the way down to a VX99, or up to a crossfire 129. Meaning you could keep this conainer for ever without needing a new one. I have always told newbies wanting to buy a brand new rig with a 190 in it, that they should wait until being on a 170 so they can get good life from it before needing to sell it, However, Is the Icon I5 the perfect first container if buying a container brand new as a first rig? Here is why... You buy an Icon I5. It takes 150-175 canopies. Then you buy a Pilot ZPX 188 and it will pack smaller, so it will fit in the I5. (100 Jumps on average) Then once you are finished with the 188, you buy a Pilot standard ZP 168 for the perfect fit. (200 jumps on average?) Then you buy the Pilot standard 150 ZP for a nice fit. (300 jumps average?) Then seein the Pilot 150 zp packs larger than the PD and Icarus mains, i think cause it is measured from the bottom skin, that should mean if you purchased a Sabre 2 135 or eiher a custom made size by icarus of a safire 2 139 or 135, maybe even 129, then going by logic that should fit. (500 jumps) So if a Pilot 150 packs like a safire 139 or 135 and a Sabre 135 then it should fit the icon I5. meaning you get four downsizes out of the custom made for you brand new harness and could get an average of around 1100 jumps on the container and the reserve before you needed to or wanted to think about selling it and buying a container to take canopies that are smaller than a 135. Hence, this being the moment to then buy the V308, menaing two rigs to see you through your entire skydiving days. People say by a second hand rig first, and i agre if you are starting on a 190 canopy. But with the Icon I5 and the ZPX it seems to me that it might be more financially viable to get that custom made Icon I5 when you buy your first rig (get new or second hand canopies, aad etc, whatever) and you have the perfect comfort and the perfect fit to your body and you have the ability to get 1100 jumps out of it downsizing at an average pace making this the perfect container to buy brand new custom made. Does this make sense? IS the logic correct? Is this the perfect container to buy if you are buying a brand new rig as your first rig? Has ZPX made that much of a difference? I mean 4 downsizes out of a single container in increments of 20sqft per downsize is a huge deal! I never looked at this container like this before but I am dealing with a customer who was asking the right quesions to get me really thinking about it. or am i wrong somewhere and all excited over nothing? The reason this works specifically with the Icon is because Aerodyne make their cnaopies fit their containers, so with the Aerodyne canopies packing a bit larger and their ZPX packing a bit smaller it works perfect for three downsizes, then throw in a Icarus or PD canopy to get the 4th downsize. Maybe if i went to school I might have gotten a real paying job. If only i was 15 again and enjoyed education. I would be a genius.......... .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  5. I have 15 stock deepseed suits. www.deepseed.com Let m know if you want to borrow one and try it out and then go to deepseed and buy one or make an offer on my stock ones that are really for demos. Here is a picture of some of them, not sure if you can make the photos out on the rack, but on the dummy you can. He is wearing a Multispeed suit where the arms and legs zip up to make it tight. HAve about three of these in different sizing if you wanted to try one out before you buy. Disclaimer: I do not sell Deepseed suits directly, I only send customers directly to them, just like to let people have shit to try out. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  6. I have only hear good things about it. Apparently the price is a huge factor of it not taking off along with the owner not really putting a big marketing campaign behind it, from what i can tell by choice. However, I think it is a top three option if you live in Europe to buy one of these. Someone I trust very dearly who sells alot of rigs tells me it is an excellent rig, the only reason they do not see many is because of the price, hopefully the euro will change that in time to come as it may be expensive living outside of Europe to buy but living inside of Europe it should be a first choice, especially ahead of the PDF bullshit everyone is sick of (customer service that is, not gear). It seems BKR is joining forces with another business minded guy, 'freeatlast' and getting to work on the marketing and giving it the time and effort it needs to get known in the USA. Its a hard call to see if it will take off in the states as i get the feeling people are set in their ways in the USA with the long time manufacturers. With gear prices here in Australia being so damn expensive compared to the USA, I think it would have a reat chance over here and with the popularity of the Icon and the wings over here it could quickly take off as what goes into this rig is very impressive. It sure would give PA a run for their money. Whoever commented on it looking like an owl, yes, I have always thought that, but I see a strange shape or animal in every single rig i have seen. Anyway, I hope some of you guys get the chance to demo the container, from what i can tell it would be a perfect fit for me as I think the spacer foam on microns and Javs etc was an ecellent idea until i put them on and thought, 'wow. they could of been a bit more generous'. With this container being a heaped helping of spacer foam, it gets me interested. Good Luck this year Jerome, i get the feeling its going to be a good year for your container and I hope to one day sell them here in my Store in Australia. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  7. Poll means... Yes I do and I have over 1000 jumps and my main is smaller than a 139 for the first option.....etc etc etc. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  8. I dont know, the poll was a quick one. OK, so here is the real situation and why I have suddenly been asking about this..... You guys deserve it because of the decent answers that have been given. I have just purchase a bunch of demo rigs, only two of them are full rigs with reserves etc, the rest get loaned out with the customers stock reserve and cypres and my demo container and demo mains. Now, I wanted to put a Optimum 143 into the V308 with a safire 129, as this demo rig i would keep at the dz and i would use it as my personal rig as well. However, I am warned by UPT that it will be very tight and they went as far to more or less tell me that I shouldnt go for this combination, so I of course had to then decide between a PD 126 or a smart 120 or a Icarus reserve 129. I went with the 129, cause it is the largest and it packs the smallest. So the reserve arrived, personally I dont mind jumping a 130 reserve, however i then look at the packing card and it shows a maximum weight of 78kgs. and i think WTF!!. I then go into my records and realise I have just delivered a customer a 129 icarus reserve as well. So I pull his Micron file and i relaise that he is heavier than me. I then posted here to find out what I should do about my customer, who I am writing an email to now. So the customer is the concern as instantly i realise there is no way in hell I am going to use this reserve as things are going well at the moment after a few years very hard work and I aint going to have you wankers reading about me in the incidents section. So right now i am waiting to see what the customer has to say, but with the reserve I have gone and purchased to use in a demo rig for myself and others, I am not going to be letting anyone overload a reserve on my kit during my watch. So if anyone would like to swap a Icarus reserve 129, brand spanking new, like a week old for either a PD 126 (used of course) or a Optimum 143 and i will give some cash, or a Micro raven 135 and you can give me some cash, then someone is going to get a hell of a deal. I am all up for swapping this outright for a PD 126 that is three or four years old, or if someone wants to pick up a very cheap reserve, then fast sale appreciated. This is not an advertisement, this is a situation we are discussing and i am explaining the conclusion of this topic for me and seeing you guys are all regular riggers on thsi forum i doubt you would mind a offer as you know I am not looking for a fast buck or to make money here. Thanks for all the replies, I would much rather a PD reserve that says 215lbs rather than a reserve hat says 78kgs, cause 78 kgs is my ideal weight i would love to get down to, and that is not including wearing a rig ;) .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  9. Any chance you could scan a copy of that review? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  10. have a look at 10.6 and 10.7 on the manual. it seems to be conflicting with page 12. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  11. It also says in the manual that it is NOT allowed to be jumped at an exit rate exceding 1.3 wing loading. So back to my original question, Are people allowed to jump reserves with such high wingloadings and are people allowed to jump the icarus reserve say the 129 with a weight that is over the max allowed on the icarus table? Can someone get away with jumping a icarus reserve 129 with an exit weight of 95kgs? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  12. So you are saying all size Icarus reserves are Tso'd up to 116 kgs? Even though they say the maximum exit wirght is 78kgs, but at the same time their 219's and up are maxed at 116kgs. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  13. Sorry, I dont have a manual. Yes it is an Icarus reserve 129. The max exit weight is 78 kgs. So, how can it be TSO'd to 116kgs? Are you sure you are not talking about a larger size icarus reserve? 219, to 279 reserve that is max weight of 116kgs? You will ntoice i am talking about the 129 that has a max loading at 78kgs, not the 219 that has a max loading at 116kgs. http://www.square1.com/Manufacturers/Square1/p1649.asp Thanks anyway though. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  14. Just curious. I have a customer who has purchased a system with a 129 qft main and a 129 sqft reserve. Now he 129sqft reserve has a max exit weight of 78 kgs (Jumper +gear + clothing). Going form the jumpers order form he weighs 85kgs in clothes alone. Now, I imagine this is a regular occurance to be honest with those who jump small reserves. Otherwise, all those jumping 109 reserves must all weigh about 50kgs (110lbs), and i doubt that is the case. So what i want to know (yes as a distributor, i am also learning every day) is it illegal in the USA to jump a reserve that is overloaded with exit weight? How do DZO's or CSO's let this et past them? Are they required by ops to ground the jumper? Is there a blind eye to this? Or Is this actually allowed and the max exit weight just a 'suggestion'? Look forward to some replies and some honest anonymous poll results. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  15. Hey, I really appreciate the massive words mate, but if you could maybe edit the title into lower case letters would be great as I feel a bit embarrassed at the moment. Nice container though mate. Glad it got to you, I was wondering what the Blue would look like and it looks damn fine!. I actually have the V308 arriving today with a safire 2 129, Icarus reserve 129 and cypres 2 arriving assembled. I cant wait to start jumping again this weekend. All our demo rigs are out now except for a single V350 with Pilot ZPX. Once aerodyne and UPT reopen we will be buying another stack of demo rigs and hopefully picking one of the designs everyone sent in, .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  16. Nah mate, They are just in the 'play around' stage with the camera. From what I can tell, they are just figuring out if there is anything they can or should do. Once they make that decision you can rest assure that they will have somehting out fast. With the holidays and everything at the moment things are on slow play with everyone everywhere. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  17. Cookie will sort that issue out shortly. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  18. They dont really fall in the same category. The GoPro is a camera to be played around with and mved around and creative with, bordering on a novelty camera. Awesome cameras, but not a Sony. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  19. Liz, I will let you know and exact answer in a few days. I will be able to try it out myself. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  20. LAst time I ha a tent next to a swoop area I was woken by someone ending their life. Anyway, will find a hotel. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
