Yep.  And still do.  And we fight against those who say they will "terminate" it.

Wait.  I thought our religion was climate change?  Or vaccines?  It's tough to have to change your religion so often when conservatives change their mind . . .

But seriously no liberal I know worships government.  It's good at some things, bad at others.  It is at its best when it protects the rights of everyone - women, minorities, LGBT people - against the tyranny of the masses.  It is at its worst when it's used to support and enable individual strongmen.

Sure.  I support better control of our border, for example, even though I oppose Trump.

That being said, it's ironic that what triggered this anti-liberal diatribe was the mention of one particular politician.

You worship several things, correct, some would call it paganism.

    Diatribe?  Pretty dramatic sounding.

I understand opposing Trump.  I don't understand how you think the process honors our constitution or lady liberty.  You underestimate the threat to democracy/the constitution/liberty is enabled by how he is being opposed.

What is your limiting principle? What is out of bounds?

If I were in charge of preparations, repeated test jumps would be required to work out the protocols.  Probably too heavy for one pilot in the US?

Lady Liberty keeps her blindfold on as she cries for the state of American justice.

A rich White guy with 78.75 million shares of DJT stock sits $10 a share richer this morning alone than he did yesterday afternoon. She sees his new grifting of bibles, shoes, etc. to prey upon the weak minded cultists that whoreship him. He has figured out how to milk the cows dry. How to laugh at judgements and sanctions. Now recognizing what a lifetime of scamming the system has taught him.

Is it possible to make it more clear - the end justifies the means?  I don't think so.  How can you not see what you've become?  Liberals used to protect the constitution, and the liberties it ensured.  Now their religion is government, they worship it, see the constitution as an obstacle to effective governance, an impediment to doing what is needed to be done for the greater good, determined by...

Do you recognize it is possible to support policies without supporting the politician?  I don't think you all can have policy debates anymore, so much hate, intolerance, and bigotry has filled your world view.

Donald Trump and the GOP successfully trawling for imbeciles every hour of every day.

What kind of imbecile would pretend lady liberty still has her blindfold on?  What kind of imbecile would think trying to subvert justice so blatantly would work?

  5. There is a canopy manufacturer which is making me a main in 10 weeks, but only because they already have enough of the material.  That same manufacturer claims PD is known for offering/bidding/paying premium prices to get fabric "diverted" to them instead of the original customer.  Color choices, and not just the type of fabric should be confirmed for the schedule impact when ordering, even if it has to be speculative.

And that's why speedflyers should pick a 90° angle from jumprun. Speedflying is not purely vertical, it does have an (admittedly small) horizontal component.

I wouldn't want to count on it, or their ability to do it well.

    a) The old ones had the "flat plate plunger" design that shears the loop at both cutter holes.  Something not at all known to the public before, I think. Quite a different design.

Certainly don't remember them describing it as an advantage or innovative or whatever.  It could be.

  8. That cutter is really different in how it shears the loop - doing it at the perimeter of the piston face to cylinder wall, like how a 2 stroke engine cuts off the ports in the cylinder.  That is different than smashing it with a cylindrical cutter against the "top of the cylinder head".  Am I wrong about how the Mars cutter is different?  It might make a big difference in what should be expected after a reliable cut.

In fact, the blade in it is good, but very capricious in terms of manufacturing accuracy. The gap between the blade and the body must be strictly observed. If it is too small and the blade may jam. Too large and the blade will warp when the loop-locking charge is activated. I can understand them, I had to spin around while the patent from Airteс was valid, but now you can install a standard A-shaped knife. True, you can eat crap here too.... basically, Mars started this indecent dinner.

Cutting is actually shearing, I understand that, but the Mars design seems different in a big way - the shearing happens long before the end of the piston stroke, or maybe I'm seeing it wrong.  Perhaps the "continued stroke" of the piston after the hole for the loop allows for some final stretching/breaking of stubborn fibers?  It could explain why the piston doesn't look like a traditional blade.  Perhaps the remaining loop material after activation isn't necessarily as bad is it sounds?  Does someone know if my thoughts are close to accurate?  I'm trying to be generous, to give the designers the benefit of the doubt, there could be some logic to the unusual look and results.

But why are they biased? Is it because they know how rigs are supposed to function and they know which designs function better? That would be a good bias. Is it because they are dealers and are promoting a certain rig? That might be a bad bias. Is it because they want their clients to have the rigs that are easier to pack? That, too, might be a bad bias. Choose your rigger wisely.

You could ask some of the best riggers in the world, which is best.  How about Nancy LaRiviere, Bill Booth, the answers would be very different.  More important is to know what are the differences in the different rigs and their tradeoffs, unless you really don't want to spend the time to learn about gear.

Ask your rigger to describe their thoughts on +/- of various systems.

Riggers should NOT be considered an unbiased source of info on rigs.  Riggers are perhaps some of the most biased of any jumpers?

Back to the original question - Isn't the most popular system clearly the Vector?  Isn't the size of their production workforce enough to make that clear, even if you figure for tandem production?  I think the Velocity Sports Equipment Infinity is the best, but it has nothing at all to do with how popular it is.  In fact, my opinion of a rig increases if they don't have as many different people making them.

Even if they were "full fit", but inside the allowed sizes, that's not supposed to happen.I know the rigger who packed it and I'm willing to bet that the canopies are the correct size, the loop was the correct length and treated with silicon.

Now, you can say that the picture doesn't represent "a real life scenario" because the person on the picture doesn't wear the legstraps. To which I would answer, I'll never jump a rig where the reserve deployment depends on how tight you have your legstraps.

My engineering mind wonders about some not yet mentioned factors - the bulk, friction, and such that a skyhook adds, and the bulk that a lot of ballistic fabric and such has.  Just throwing it out there.

Our dealers do not agree, they are sometimes approached by dissatisfied customers who have "tested" the strength of non-installed stows. Despite all the warnings...

Why would testing the strength of non-installed stows make any sense?  They don't need to withstand stress until installed.  No glue is needed if made wisely, as proven by decades of personal experience.

I did not seek to repeat the original, our colleagues had such attempts. It turned out that the glued stows that can perform the PIA test unbound, serve less. They are weakened by strong glue.

There is no need for glue, never used it, and I've used and given out a lot.  Before inserting, "turn over" the tubing just a few mm and it will be much harder for it to come out.  If the joint is installed in the larkshead area where there is actually so little tension, I've never had one fail in that way.

I only use tube stows or similar for the inner locking stows of the d-bag.

  15. Just received mine.  The original sonoalti seemed cheaply made, not rugged.  This seems really solid, but haven't used it yet.  They say the KISS helmet is no good for their audible, I say that is not true.  My ear is nearly centered where it is supposed to be, and has worked well for other audibles.  Mounting it in a KISS is easy if you remove the back cover of the "ear cap", then use the foam from the box in which it came to pad/secure it.  I just use rubberbands secured over the screws (no clips needed) to hold the earcap in place.  No tools needed, not as thick, and the unit is protected by the cover.  Better to adapt an audible to fit within the cover and be protected.

Watching Larry Chernis making the original Infinity container in the upstairs loft of the packing hanger...it causes one to appreciate what it takes to make our gear.  Larry's endorsement is enough.
