  4. The jumpers attitude was different during the weekend then normal. He was saying to his friends something like "Today is my show". There is also some suspect that he was involved with drugs. The jump was a 2way Freefly with a friend. The briefing was mad
  5. Jumper was on the last load, at sunset. After an uneventful freefall the jumper flew her canopy and for unknown reasons landed on a busy road near the dropzone. As soon as she had landed she was struck by a car and was killed.
  6. On his 5th jump of the year the jumper was doing a 3500' jump, when he went to pull his main pilot chute he was unable to. His rig was equiped with an Rear of Leg pilot chute pouch and had twisted the bridle around the leg strap making it impossible to li

  10. Jumper made a slow turn to land after an AFF jump and did not flare for unknown reasons. He died 2 days later from the injuries substained from this landing.
  11. Jumper was performing a demo into a staduim and was last out of the helicopter at approx 3500 feet. The jumper attempted to pull the pilot chute from the pouch but was able to extract it. The jumper did not pull the reserve handle but appears to
  12. psh ha ha ha... you should talk to him about hiring me ;-) Hiring? Would you need to get paid or will you do it just to show off? Safe swoops Sangiro
  13. You sure it's not the other way round? Where's NickDG when you need him? Sure there's cross over. There's cross over between a lot of very different activities. Of course there are people who participate in both. In the end this is what it comes down to for me: Do BASE jumpers believe they are a community unto themselves, or are you just part of the skydiving community? If it's the latter, I'll stop coding tonight. If you feel you're part of your own community, then here's your own place to hang out. Go, don't go. Like someone else said - you get to vote with your mouse. Safe swoops Sangiro

  15. Right up there with Jukskei and Horseshoe tossing. I already did.
  16. I agree - not all these sports are necessarily "related" to skydiving. If there are activities that's common enough amongst you guys that you want to chat about them on the side here, I'll consider them.
  17. Heya all, There's a suggestion over here in the Feedback forum that I create some additional "Related Sports" forums on DZ.com. With that in mind, I don't intend to create a forum for every activity out there. I thought I'd poll you guys to get an idea of which activities should be candidates for their own sub-forums. What else would you like to talk about on the side? (multiple answers allowed)
  18. Hey all, While I'm more than happy to host the BASE community here on Dropzone.com I've received a lot of requests over the years to set up a site similar to this, but for BASE jumpers only. I've always thought it to be a good idea but never had the time to actually make it happen. We've been working away at this over the last few months and I'm happy to say we're pretty close to wrapping it up and launching the site. I'll provide more detail as we get closer to the event. A few thoughts: 1) All the posts in the BASE Zone will be migrated over to the new site 2) Your account (username/password) will be migrated over so you can log in there with the same info as here 3) Your Dropzone.com account will continue to exist and you can use it as always 4) Private Messages and e-mail will not be migrated over 5) The BASE Zone will be shut down on Dropzone.com. A link to the forum will remain up but traffic will be directed to the new site. The functionality on the new site will be similar to what we have on Dropzone.com. The site is actually based on the Rockclimbing.com platform, so browsing around there should give you a good idea of the types of features and functionality you should expect to see. I'm hoping we will get this out within the next 2 weeks. Just wanted to give you a heads-up to set expectations. More to come.
  19. Jumper did a solo skydive and was seen to have a few line twists on opening at 3000 feet. The jumper kicked out of these and was seen flying straight again. At approx 1000 feet the jumper was seen to be in a spiral towards the ground. He struck the ground
  20. Jumper was seen to have a foot entangled with his main canopies lines and tried to cut the line but was unable to do so. He fired his reserve and it entangled with the main. He was unable to clear this malfunction and landed with the canopies entangled.
  21. Jumper exited at 1200 meters and did not pull his main. The reserve was activated by the AAD but at too low of an altitude to work.
  22. As jy niks konstruktiefs het om te se nie, hoekom probeer jy nie 'n slag jou bek hou eerder as om die eerste afbrekende belediging wat in jou kop opkom uit te blaker nie? BTW - I dare you, hit me with one of your insulting remarks... Safe swoops Sangiro
  23. Jumper was in a swoop meet and appears to have missed a riser or toggle during his approach. This caused him to do an abrupt turn at approx 45 feet and he struck the ground at high speed.
