  1. My wings W10 fits a Pulse 170. Its a tight fit for sure, but not impossible in the summer. in the winter, forget about it. its about as maxed out as you can go. i have a OP176 reserve to match too (which is slightly larger than a PDR160)
  2. see it, the lower right is a copy of the upper left, and there are multiple copies in a diagonal direction. He has one toggle, the TI has the other and is wearing a hand cam. mystery solved! its a photo of a friends friend
  3. All jokes aside, what the is this guy wearing? it looks like a tandem harness.....with a canopy on it. His left hand has no toggle, and the camera guy is WAY too close. What's up with this rig? Am I overlooking something?
  4. I was wingloading my reserve a 1:1 and cut from 3000 feet with a wings reserve boost. I flew in half brakes until i saw the canopy fall into the tree line. ( i still had 1500 feet left and was hovering outside the holding area). i traced a line back to the hanger so i knew in the general direction it was in. It was difficult to tell how far it was, but i grapped my hiking GPS and went out there with a buddy on his ATV and found it within an hour. If the canopy is in the tree, it might be easier, but mine was the open ground laying flat. it was really hard to see it. Plexus makes an audiable beacon that can help guide you if you know the general area of where it landed. none of these items are turn key products though.
  5. ive got the wings with MARD and magnetic covers. the covers are nice, the magnets have to be very close for them to work, but they work great. you have to neatly put your risers in them and not rush otherwise it will not close. Ive also used the MARD as well on a recent line over mal. Worked great, deployed super fast. Quote
  6. it depends on who is your frame of reference and control volume. in the eyes of the pilotchute, the jumper is moving away from it, and it is stationary. from the eyes of the jumper, the pilot shoot is being pulled away from him with the relative wind. from the eyes of the jumper + pilot chute system, its the differential effect of terminal velocity. the jumper is at terminal velocity, and the PC is not, hence one is traveling towards earth faster. so there is relative velocity between the two that makes the gap.

    Storing a rig

great! thanks for the tips guys. i generally dont leave my main packed in my rig, but someone said its not a big deal, but i wasnt sure for the long term. ill definitely pull the reserve when i dump it off with the packer, i just want to make sure the reserve comes out cleanly and properly, i also wanted to take a look at the reserve boost in my rig first hand. Thanks for the tips guys!

    Storing a rig

newbie question: How do you guys store your main over the winter season (for those that live up here)? Keep it in the container? or do u pull it out and let it breathe? I was going to remove the main with the risers and store it in a plastic bin separate from my container and throw some of those dry silica packs in it. What about the reserve? Chances are i will not be jumping the winter and my reserve repack will be about 2 months over due when i begin jumping in 2015. Should i just leave it in there, or should i pop it open when its due and inspect it myself before getting it repacked by a rigger?
  9. that's aggressive. What if its a false alarm and your dog walks through. wait...dogs cant open doors. scratch that. If you set up an M134 at the door, i can only imagine you are expecting robocops evil twin.

    Wings brake stow

got it, ive been stowing the tuck tab first. if i remove it i should be able to bend the riser to create a pocket in the brake line stow...hopefully, damn thing is stiff as bricks! thanks!

    Wings brake stow

I purchased a new wings and the brake line stow on the back of the rear risers are extremely tight. Ive thought about jamming a thin rod in there to stretch it out while it sits on the days i dont jumpQuote, but figured i should ask if there are other ways before i do a brute force method. I fly a Pulse 170, so i have to use both the top and bottom brake stow. At the rate i have to work to get the brake line into the little tabs, ill need a reline at the stow location within 100 jumps! Any tips and tricks to this? The rig is about 2 months old, so it is still fairly new.
  12. Is this gun my own gun, or is it some video game style question where i just found a gun on the floor? can i take a knife instead?
  13. I have em on my wings, i like em a lot. they contain 4 magnets on each flap, totally 16 magnets for the whole rig. they dont work over a large range, so far, they work great. and i havent had them come undone yet. i can snap a pic of em later tonight if you like.
  14. Ive called up a the big guys, UPT, Wings, Javelin and started to get a sense of what is suppose to fit. It seems like an MLW thats +/-1" is about the maximum limit that would be safe to wear. I'm looking at used gear at the moment, but also open to ordering a new container (wings has the best price vs turn around time vs quality), and I was going to order the container new until my instructor said to wait a bit, something might pop up (and they have but people keep entering bidding wars to pick em up over me!). Thanks guys
  15. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I was hoping to get a sample of people with their measurements and what size harness they got. for example, wings has a stock container that fit every criteria for except I am 66in not 67-72. They say it won't fit me. Sure, but by how much? I re measured the torso per wings and per upt and mirage. I am 19" which translates to mlw15 to 17 depending on which manufacture is asking. I also have a 29" inseam. Im Short legged I guess?
