  1. any disadvantages to the Kodiak for skydiving? For example C of G issues? Would be interested to hear from owner/operators...
  2. too bad you cannot get vectran or hma. if you go with spectra do NOT go with the 550. can go out of trim in no time.
  3. it is all there in the earlier discussions. It all has to do with some (I believe still) unanswered questions... "A larger reserve ain't worth a dime if it does not inflate before you impact. I refer you to my earlier post also. MEL"
  4. for me, while MEL refuses to pack anything with an OP reserve in it, I would not buy one. I would go with the tried and true PDR.
  5. just fyi there is the angelfire. looks to be cert to 330
  6. try Mark "Mel" Lancaster Owner skyworks rigging 2222 Buffalo - West springs Hwy. P.O. Box 507 Buffalo SC United STates 29321 (864) 429-8428
  7. Juan in Midland, Ontario makes them. Whatever size you want. edit.I sent you a PM with how to get hold of him.
  8. I would replace the risers and toggles right away. I use racer risers with snap toggles and they are bulletproof.
  9. most have but if you have not watch the PD vid by John LeBlanc about factors affecting speed of opening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVAoiLl2B6M
  10. excess speed will cause hard openings. maybe the instructor can tell.
  11. the snaps on racer toggles do not see load at opening shock. On sigma to do seem to see some load. Like I said the racer toggles for me have been perfect. I pack lots of other rigs and about half I would not jump. a toggle fire can be the first of a chain of events. If it happens once fix it.
  12. agree with some here... racer riser/toggles are bullet proof
  13. great people at both. however...lots of lift capacity now at Parachute School of Toronto in Baldwin. 3 planes now including (I am told) the fastest climbing 208B Caravan on the planet.
  14. if you are visiting Toronto, Ontario Canada please bring your gear, look us up and jump from the turbine that has arrived for the summer season --- the SkydiveMex 900HP supervan. June-October 2014

  16. you cannot just drop off with any rigger. find the guy in your area who does not mind racers. or ship it to deland ---- I have done that before.
  17. what matters is the cd (or in the end, drag) not mesh vs non mesh. was there a design change on the rig that towed the reserve pc? if not I cannot understand how the sell any... or used ones are sold at any price...unless like bill b says skydivers do not care about safety.
  18. " so the question is should every rigger check this from now on?" agree on a test method and YES.
  19. John Sherman has this published... http://www.jumpshack.com/default.asp?CategoryID=TECH&PageID=18pounds&SortBy=DATE_D
  20. I asked Nancy at JumpShack that question once....here is the answer... "I'm sure if we made a step-in harness (no legstrap hardware), with a 97 AngelFire, and say a 101 FireBolt, I could get it down to 8 pounds"
  21. I was reading a post the mentioned "Found Aircraft" and looked up their newest model the expedition e350. For skydiving maybe it would be as good or better than a 206? www.halls.md/expedition www.northwestbackcountryaircraft.com/pdf/E350Specs.pdf
